We understand that this is frustrating for our users, but as others have pointed out, we've been hit with many posts with crypto-currency spam. They are even taking over regular member accounts to post spam. These attacks were originating in Russia so unfortunately, we had to take steps in order to prevent this from happening. This isn't just MSFN specific but other forums are experiencing this as well. The last thing we want is the board to become compromised to the point where someone causes major damage. Therefor, xper employed a few tactics to help curb these attacks. We're not blocking Russia due to anything political, because of their beliefs or current events surrounding them, it's simply to keep the board safe.

The new Inventory system works now on all Windows versions. The last update available is from March 2002 on Windows NT4.0.

What is ViStart? ViStart is Start Menu replacement that works with Windows XP or modern systems like latest Windows 10! This application is here for a long time, I remember back in 2007 it was very requested as fully working Windows Vista Start Menu with real search bar. During time ViStart evolved to version 8.1.5208 compiled 14.2.2016. After long delay was 31.3.2021 released version 8.1.5254 and Lee Chantrey decided to make it Open Source and released source code on GitHub Now I created fork 26.1.2023 with v8.1.5254 and during my testing I realized many features that I need are unfinished or missing. Admins/moderators have already DELETED THEM and have already FIXED the forum from getting future BS. We had a "software update" early January or so largely in part to keep this BS from POLLUTING our neighborhood. I witnessed a good dozen or so of these BS cryptocurrency NUISANCES and our awesome admin/moderator teams was very quick to remove them. The ones that I witnessed seemed to always occur between the hours of 3am and 7am Eastern Standard Time. (between 9am and 1pm Central Europan Time [France])

And then ExplorerPatcher's weather widget is causing unexplainable crashes of explorer.exe after some time...when I check the stats in Process Hacker at time of crash, it shows USER handle count as 10000, which is the default limit after which it's reached no more can be created, but it doesn't look like handles are leaking during runtime, they just explode in number at some point...one minute it's OK another it's crashed... And what the heck is one supposed to do in such cases other than nuke everything and start over...

You may have to consider that "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". MSFN has been hit HARD with cryptocurrency spam BS. It is entirely possible (though admins would need to chime in to verify) that what you call a "bug" is NOT a bug but the best method available to keep the BS spam off of MSFN. I would rather have a spam-free MSFN and "hinder" a few rule-following Russian users then revert to a non-hindering setup plagued with cryptocurrency BS.

Right, I forgot about that, I used the boot disk from 10, I replaced the system image file in it. WinPE of 7 does not support NVMe, and there is no way to add support there. But if there is an official driver, you can add it in the driver loading window.

Helping others can reduce your focus on your own symptoms, according to a study. By OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY FEBRUARY 1, 2023 New research suggests that people with depression or anxiety symptoms can aid their own recovery by performing acts of kindness for others. The study discovered that acts of kindness improved symptoms more than the other two therapy methods for treating depression or anxiety. Most importantly, the acts of kindness technique was the only intervention tested that helped people feel more connected to others, said study co-author David Cregg, who led the work as part of his Ph.D. dissertation in psychology at The Ohio State University. “Social connection is one of the ingredients of life most strongly associated with well-being. Performing acts of kindness seems to be one of the best ways to promote those connections,” Cregg said. Cregg conducted the research with Jennifer Cheavens, a professor of psychology at Ohio State. Their study was published recently in The Journal of Positive Psychology. The research also revealed why performing acts of kindness worked so well: It helped people take their minds off their own depression and anxiety symptoms. This finding suggests that one intuition many people have about people with depression may be wrong, Cheavens said. “We often think that people with depression have enough to deal with, so we don’t want to burden them by asking them to help others. But these results run counter to that,” she said. “Doing nice things for people and focusing on the needs of others may actually help people with depression and anxiety feel better about themselves.” The study involved 122 people in central Ohio who had moderate to severe symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. After an introductory session, the participants were split into three groups. Two of the groups were assigned to techniques often used in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for depression: planning social activities or cognitive reappraisal. The social activities group was instructed to plan social activities for two days a week. Another group was instructed in one of the staples of CBT: cognitive reappraisal. These participants kept records for at least two days each week that helped them identify negative thought patterns and revise their thoughts in a way that could reduce depression and anxiety. Members of the third group were instructed to perform three acts of kindness a day for two days out of the week. Acts of kindness were defined as “big or small acts that benefit others or make others happy, typically at some cost to you in terms of time or resources.” Some of the acts of kindness that participants later said they did included baking cookies for friends, offering to give a friend a ride, and leaving sticky notes for roommates with words of encouragement. Participants followed their instructions for five weeks, after which they were evaluated again. The researchers then checked with the participants after another five weeks to see if the interventions were still effective. The findings showed that participants in all three groups showed an increase in life satisfaction and a reduction of depression and anxiety symptoms after the 10 weeks of the study. “These results are encouraging because they suggest that all three study interventions are effective at reducing distress and improving satisfaction,” Cregg said. “But acts of kindness still showed an advantage over both social activities and cognitive reappraisal by making people feel more connected to other people, which is an important part of well-being,” he said. In addition, the acts of kindness group showed greater improvements than the cognitive reappraisal group for life satisfaction and symptoms of depression and anxiety, results showed. Cheavens noted that just participating in social activities did not improve feelings of social connection in this study. “There’s something specific about performing acts of kindness that makes people feel connected to others. It’s not enough to just be around other people, participating in social activities,” she said. Cregg said that while this study used techniques of CBT, it is not the same experience as going through CBT. Those who undergo the full treatment may have better results than those in this study. But the findings also show that even the limited CBT exposure given in this study can be helpful, Cheavens said. “Not everyone who could benefit from psychotherapy has the opportunity to get that treatment,” she said. “But we found that a relatively simple, one-time training had real effects on reducing depression and anxiety symptoms.” And beyond traditional CBT, acts of kindness may have additional benefits in creating social connections, Cregg said. “Something as simple as helping other people can go above and beyond other treatments in helping heal people with depression and anxiety,” he said.
