    People, which people? For me the html5 player works better/faster than Flash did. VP8/Vorbis only streams since the bundled gstreamer runtime doesn't support newer codecs but that's actually surprisingly fine as far as quality goes.

    Yeah, was talking about AGP cards MrMateczko, which, as you mentioned in an earlier post, is likely off topic as the OP appears to have PCI slots only. Typical internet age ADHD makes me sometimes answer topics without actually properly reading the OP... Unless I am wrong there is no PCI-e mobos officially supporting 9x OSes???

    One or another nVidia 7800GS 256MB is the best compromise IMO. Most powerful you can run is a 7950GT but I was having fan settings issues with both versions of it (256MB and 512MB) that annoyed me so much that in the end I downgraded to the 7800GS.

    It's now been 5 years since I bought a 23" 1080p monitor for my Windows ME machine, it works fine with a graphic card as low as a Geforce FX 5200, going to anything lower in size/resolution would really feel like punishment.

    You should be able to play downloaded Youtube videos with VLC. I have experimented downloading the same video from Opera and with youtube-dl, in the former case I got a small size clip with VP8 video and vorbis audio in a webm container, in the latter case I got a 1080p clip with AVC video and Opus audio in an mkv container. Both play fine with VLC 2.2.8 which is current latest stable version. I can play them fine too in Zoom Player MAX 12 (Giveaway Edition) which is configured to use system installed Lavfilters (version 0.66.0.10-git).

    In my experience too, lost file fragments can be safely deleted. If scandisk made other corrections they will be detailed in the file scandisk.log and this will tell you precisely which files/folders are affected and what scandisk did with them. Most often all these will have been truncated or deleted as to correct filesystem errors and will need to be replaced if they are of some importance.

    I recently bought an Audiotrack Prodigy Cube and an Audinst HUD-mx1, they both run great under Windows ME.

    ME is OK as I still use it as my sole desktop OS those days. This said I have a couple of laptops with Win 7 (I hate that OS) which I use only when I need to do one of the two things I can't do with ME and that is making a payment on the Paypal website or downloading something from Mega.

    I have 1.9.5-preview20150319 installed but git.exe itself doesn't seem to work in fact (I thought it did) as it uses pipes, maybe older version would, I am not sure. I use it as a bash/msys environment with added mintty.

    What's your USB audio device Ruthan? The fact it automatically installed under Windows 7 doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't use third party drivers.

    Sorry, I am afraid I can't recommend anything as I only have a cheap Behringer UCA202 whose headphone out sounds like crap and a cheap Zishan Z1 which sounds very good but has latency issues, in addition none have the feature set you're looking for.

    Plenty of good to excellent Windows 98 compatible USB Audio devices listed here: http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/HW/USB_Audio.htm 98 supports USB Audio 1.0 (UAC1) which is PCM up to 24bit and 96khz without need for third party drivers. USB Audio 2.0 (UAC2) is supported by Windows without third party drivers only in recent iterations of Windows 10, all lower Windows versions will need third party drivers to use those interfaces. I am not aware of any 9x compatible third party drivers for those. Some USB Audio 2.0 compliant devices can also work without third party drivers in legacy USB Audio 1.0 mode.

    1) In Application Data\Opera\OPERA\TOOLBAR\standard_toolbar.ini under [Document Toolbar.content] section. 2) Presumably you can drag tab out of Opera to regain a new working window. You can then close the original window and reopen tabs in in the new one. If you don't have a download you don't want to interrupt it's best to just close Opera and restart it IMO (provided it's configured to reopen all tabs that were opened when closing).

    It's been a while I didn't bother trying watching vids on youtube even with Flash as it's so slow. If I want to watch a vid I just open the url with youtube-dl and watch it from my desktop once it's downloaded.

    I have an msys version of git running fine here. I couldn't run more recent versions based on msys2 when I tried. Nice thing is I can use Mintty which gives me, command history, copy/paste, drag&drop, color scheme and 10.000 lines or more scrollback buffer, etc, you can't run command.com in it however but win95cmd.exe runs just fine in it as most console programs do, generic Mintty issues apply of course.

    Maybe you just need to uninstall and reinstall TCP/IP, worked for me a while back.

    Well this won't eliminate your windows loading error as this is likely either hardware or driver problem, it just allows you to conveniently intercept boot mode options and manually change it to normal if you wish so, best you can do I am afraid.

    You're right, risks are low but it's still in the realm of the possible that someone snoops on your connection or that some banking/payment servers use insecure ciphers.

    Frankly I feel safer using my Windows ME desktop for making online payments than I feel when I occasionally do with my Windows 7 laptops.

    Vulnerable to being decrypted by a third party somewhere between your browser and the server you connect to and not speaking about MITM attack which everything is potentially vulnerable to on any browser/system currently. No one can take control of your PC but your credentials such as credit card details could be stolen easily if you use one those 7 protocols, regardless whether you are wired or wireless. And yes I meant cyphers indeed. If you disable those on the pic plus the two zero bit ones you will be fine.

    There are 7 vulnerable TLS protocols in Opera 12.02. Once they are disabled, I would think that my encrypted connections are no more or less insecure than those made with another more recent browser on another more recent system such as latest Chrome or Firefox on my Win7 laptops which I hardly ever use. If you know otherwise you'll let me know.
