  1. Akelpad supports UTF-7, UTF-8, UTF-16 and UTF-32 as well as a large variety of ANSI encodings. Encoding options in the open/save dialog or by right-clicking the encoding field in the status bar.
  2. Akelpad sure can do it, try again. Of course you need an adequate font selected (Arial Unicode MS is fine), then you can save your text file in a variety of unicode encoding or as ANSI 932 - Shift-JIS. There won't be any text editor that will automatically select the right font, for this you need to copy as rich text and paste in a rich text editor such as Polyedit Lite.
  3. Akelpad!
  4. Just FYI, you don't need to post on Facebook, or even go on their site for them to harvest data about your browsing if you don't block, with something like Ghostery, their beacons that are embedded in 90% of web pages out there. Same goes for Google, you can clear your cache as often as you want, they'll still log all you visit if you don't block their scripts that are also on 90% of web pages out there.
  5. Since there was no specifics about what they do with the biometric identification data generated by Windows Hello, I googled it and found out they claim they only harvest Windows Hello usage data but then I wonder why this data is sent encrypted as it is not sensitive... What are the odds they actually can and will harvest people's biometric identification data, hiding it with encryption? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-10/windows-hello-privacy-faq
  6. Looks like it's working for me on ME with 82.69 and 7950GT, maybe I'll shutdown my PC more often now. Thanks!
  7. I am wondering why patching drivers that don't need it??? Unless I am missing something here.
  8. For free LookDisk lets you search for text content in zip files, then if you've got those associated with 7-Zip you can open open them with it from LookDisk's results and edit in place. You'll need an old version of LookDisk from the wayback machine as I don't think current/recent versions work properly even with KernelEx. For pay there are tools such as PowerGrep or ZipScan but I don't know whether they run OK under 9x. You may find something else along those line by googling adequately.
  9. It works, albeit not with https for google, and no need to reboot, thanks. This tweak might well be obsolete the next time I'll run IE6 though.
  10. Yesterday I fired up IE6 for the first time in many, many years to see if I could run Flash 18 in it (I can) and, as it was opened, I tried to google and yahoo but could neither, I only could bing.
  11. Noel, do you think it would be possible for you to do a 64bit compile of MaDdoG Software's context.exe from their cmdutils package? I miss being able to add a custom command button for that exe in foobar200, Xnview , Akelpad and a few more to display the context menu of the opened file in those programs on my Win7 lappy as I have done on my 32bit desktop system. http://www.maddogsw.com/cmdutils/ Sorry for off-topic guys but I couldn't resist asking after seeing the posts above....
  12. I can confirm it doesn't work here with a 7950GT in an ME system.
  13. I don't know, I applied the patch to 82.69 which I have installed and rebooted once since without issues but I I haven't try to shut down and haven't a series 6 or 7 card in the machine at the moment. Tomorrow I'll probably try to replace the FX5200 I have installed with the "new" 7950GT 256MB AGP I bought a little while ago but haven't tested so far and hopefully I will be able to tell more, that is if this card work at all.
  14. 82.16 drivers here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tk2bofyo36l9qvh/NV8216.7z?dl=0
  15. I'd try to use PC Hunter. It lets you delete anything in the file system or registry regardless of permissions, 10 is not in the list of supported OSes but since it supports 8.1, chances are it works on 10 too. I only ever used it on my Win7 x64 laptop so can't vouch for its efficiency on anything else though. http://down.epoolsoft.com/pchunter/PCHunter_free.zip
  16. Active Desktop in Win98-XP, Gadgets in Vista-7, and now Metro in 8-10. This is all the same thing they push over and over again without much success to make a computer permanently vulnerable to ActiveX instantiation exploits IMHO, call me paranoid if you want... But it's interesting how this "idea" evolves from OS to OS, In 98-XP it lived in the background, then floated in between in Vista-7 and now it is at the foreground covering everything else which makes you wonder what the next incarnation of it will be, direct injection in one's brain perhaps...
  17. SRFreeman might well be a certain Shayne Freeman from S.R. Freeman, a guy who's got ties to Microsoft according to his small bio on the S.R. Freeman website...
  18. Non-working Flash on Youtube in K-meleon is a javascript issue, use Opera 12.02, it still handles the new Youtbube javascript and is fully featured. No crash with sumatra plugin for me with NtSetInformationProcess def in kstub822.ini. (tested 2.5.2 and 3.0).
  19. I suggest you reboot when your system becomes sluggish and a restart of explorer.exe does not help as it's just going to get worse and worse until it completely locks up eventually. You're not on your own with such issues believe me but there is no solutions, it's 9x after all and it's not very stable in the long run with heavy use. And I recommend doing disk checking after bad shutdown. I have disabled autoscan but I run Norton Disk Doctor (much faster than scandisk) after any system crash/freeze that force me to reboot through the power button.
  20. Free HoloLens for all early adopters....
  21. I had similar problems when I tried to create a LAN with a switch and modem only. Then I figured out I also needed a router.
  22. Sorry about that Jumper, you're right. Any news regarding the kexbasen issues of the latest builds btw?
  23. You can probably just leave it empty, eg: DnsRecordListFree= If some dialog ever pops up about that function try f2 or z2 (2 because the function's got two parameters as per MSDN doc). Only COM/ActiveX files are registerable (and require registration to work) and that's not the case here AFAIK so don't worry about it in this case. I use plenty of those files not designed to work with a 9x OS, mostly directShow filters but also some shell extensions and everything is fine, no dummies though.
