  1. Azul OpenJDKU262 is now available. It supports TLS 1.3 and there is no changes in dependencies vs U252 which means I was able to successfully visit the TLS 1.3 test site for the first time with Opera 12 via Burp on my Windows ME machine.
  2. I'm able to use it on Windows Me + KernelEx and KernelEx extensions but I had to downgrade sunmscapi.dll to an older version that doesn't have an ncrypt.dll dependency. I also didn't install it but unpacked the zip and then did run jar files with it (java (or javaw) -jar whatever.jar). I've tested it running Pixelitor and Burp Suite as an HTTPS proxy for Opera for an entire session without a problem. I imagine that if I can run it on Me there must be ways to run it on XP too even if it doesn't out of the box.
  3. Azul OpenJDK I guess but U262 builds aren't online yet. Hopefully I can run it as good as U252 and can use Opera 12 with TLS 1.3 on Win ME via Burp.
  4. To register VoptXP it you should merge the linked reg file to the registry. I only defragged all my drives with it when I installed it a few years ago, new toy syndrome you know, otherwise it's been quite a while I don't bother defragging at all anymore with any tool. Windirstat is a very nice disk space analyzer but it has no functions regarding fragmentation indeed.
  5. The defrag software VoptXP has been made free after the passing of its author in 2016. Version 7.22 is for 9x. Not sure if it's ever been mentioned round these parts. https://web.archive.org/web/20160904115809/http://www.goldenbow.com/index.html https://web.archive.org/web/20160816083906/http://www.goldenbow.com/aftp/VXP_v722.exe https://web.archive.org/web/20160816083906/http://www.goldenbow.com/Vopt7reg.reg
  6. It downloads the entire video to a temp file named like BANCEG or similar before the player gets it, there is no advantage I can see here. But then again, I've spent little time fiddling and maybe I've missed something.
  7. @Wunderbar98: I've fiddled a bit with various commands (without using tee) after visiting the "stream to vlc" github page. Unless I missed something it doesn't seem to stream, it downloads the whole video to a temp file and then passes it to the specified player which cannot be any player as the temp file is without extension. I don't see any advantage over simply downloading the video to desktop.
  8. I'm using (latest) youtube-dl using python 2.7 & KernelEx, no problems. FFMpeg & FFProbe are also pretty much a requirement for using it optimally, I use Corone's FFMpeg builds for XP. RTMPDump and/or Fribidi might also be required for some downloads/link extractions.

  10. AFAIK 9x OSes can't use WDM drivers for graphics, only vxd. I highly doubt WDMEX can help with that.
  11. I don't think it's possible to insert it directly on desktop/folders background as adding shell commands isn't supported there on 9x AFAIK. You need to use a shell extension that lets you add items to desktop/folders background. I use Open++ for that purpose (KernelEx required), Fast Explorer might work too.
  12. I have no conflicts between the two but I only use a fairly old KernelEx because newer ones broke too much stuff in my system. Also I'm not using RP for skinning Windows but only for having ClearType and the LDT resources counter it adds to the Ctrl-Alt-Del dialog .
  13. Reg file header should be REGEDIT4 and not REGEDIT 4. Reg file should also end with at least one empty line.
  14. "One of the file requirements is XFILE in PATH. I'm honestly not too sure what to do here..." It just means the slipstream scripts use rloew's xfile.exe and in order to be able to use it it must be in the windows search path such as the windows dir or the system dir or any dir set as path in your environment variables.

  17. I have no experience with P4 but I use an Opteron 154 (equivalent to Athlon 64 FX-57) since many years now and never felt there was any kind of problem with it.
  18. Showing the menu every time is the best you can do I think, my boot is configured like that too. I've put a 5 second delay so I have ample time to intercept it if I need to.
  19. @Goodmaneuver: I use the default theme I think (not sure what this IPS is and where to set it) and have no width issue but have these blue bars between posts indeed. Sometimes the reply widget works and sometimes it doesn't, I have no clue why and have to use Firefox instead of Opera to make/answer posts when it doesn't.
  20. @Bruninho: Vogon icons: https://www.vogons.org/styles/vogons199x/theme/icons.woff or https://www.vogons.org/styles/vogons199x/theme/icons.woff2 Very easy to find by looking at the html btw. No TTF seems available. WOFF (unsure about WOFF2) can be converted within a 9x system that has KernelEx with Fontforge, otherwise an online converter should be fine and I believe internal font family name should be set to vogons-icon (as per Vogon CSS). LAV & VSFilter: these are DirectShow (ActiveX) filters, the only browser that could instantiate them is Internet Explorer, they won't work with any other browser. I don't think there is any solution for playing youtube vids in a browser on a 9x system. Download and play locally is what I do for youtube.
