I know you didn’t specifically ask. I’m sure you may have wondered about it, and I have done the same thing. I’ve been excited for a while to see if there will be any more updates, and there might be if NHTPG feels the need to address any remaining loose ends. But it seems all the meaningful stuff has been taken care of, and I can confirm from my end that 11 runs with the efficiency of a nuclear clock. While 11 is my go-to version, I do have uses for 12 and 13.x, and they do run well on the Pentium D for most things. I will absolutely use one of these versions for a site that has problems in 11, but I haven’t run into a major one yet. Audio/video tend to stutter in these versions, but I’m sure they have no issues on more powerful hardware. In 11 there are almost no problems with stutter, and you have to load a lot of tabs to get it to the point where there is stuttering. In 12 and 13.x it takes only a few to get to that point. I appreciate your work, my brother, and I am thankful for how you have kept us posted on these newer versions. I understand NHTPG’s perspective on how newer doesn’t always equal better, and his efforts to ensure that the fastest versions of each browser, based on a series of tests, were the ones he targeted. I think at this point that he’s happy with his last few releases…after months of daily use, I can say that they are as close to perfect as you can get. If the 360 developers had retained 32-bit XP compatibility with the latest version then it would probably be a non-issue as I have no doubt NHTPG would have taken a look at it and would be working with it right now if he felt the urge or desire to do so. It’s all up to him and however he feels, and what he wants to do. The best thing we can do is to be encouraging and show gratitude. If all that has changed with the later 13.x versions is that they moved the telemetry around, then I agree with him that it doesn’t necessarily warrant putting in the effort to make custom versions of them. If rendering improvements from later Chromium versions were to be backported to the Chromium 86 engine, or if a later Chromium engine were to be targeted for XP, then that would constitute a major change and would definitely warrant taking a closer look. But again, that’s all up to NHTPG.3 points

Speaking only for myself, I want to thank you for your work on the versions of 360Chrome that you targeted. Having experimented with your final releases from January for the last few months, at this point I can say with tremendous confidence that you got them as close to perfect as possible. It's interesting to compare the differences between 11/12/13.x...on my Pentium D, 11 absolutely smokes the others as far as speed goes but is the weakest of the bunch in web compatibility, 12 balances speed/compatibility quite well and 13.x is extremely compatible while not being as fast (of course, on more powerful hardware, the speed gap becomes less apparent). You can count me among the 11 users, and I use it on a daily basis now; while I was using 13.x for a while for 'future-proofing' purposes, the majority of websites still work great in 11 (and run significantly faster there than in 12 and 13.x). Without any doubt, you earned the right to take some time for yourself (after all, you were doing this in your free time anyway), but I'm very thankful for your efforts in making it possible for us to have some great, telemetry-free modern Chromium browsers in XP. To Draker and anyone else who may be wondering "when is he going to release a new version?", I say to you that this man has no obligation to do a thing for you, me, or any others in this forum. This was a project pursued with personal passion and interest in mind, and it's a fortunate bonus that we have all been able to reap the benefits as he was kind enough to share his mods (which he put a significant amount of effort into, over a long period of time) with all of us. There's nothing ruling out a comeback, and I'm sure if he finds something that interests him as much if not more than 360 11/12/13.x did, he might be willing to do some more work, at least in his free time for his personal use. If he shares any of it with us, we can count it as a bonus too. Thank you very much, @NotHereToPlayGames!3 points

The 32 bit part of it is very broken now. I am trying to fix it. However, I consider the new 64 bit enhancements to be finished.3 points

The same for me. Tried it a long time ago and even then it had troubles with many websites . I remember it just crashed when I tried to login to my streaming provider, for example . So it's dead for me .. like the rest. With some minor issues 13.5 (thanks to @NotThereToPlayGames is still OK but I started to use MiniBrowser (chrome 87) for some websites (I mean @Humming Owl's release, thanks to him again!). Have to note , I use them both with the old (red colour) Dixel's launcher that he wrote for (Opera 48?) . It gives like .... super-boost , esp. at the start. Just needed to rename the main executable and the folder where it starts from.2 points

You've always been very helpful to me when I've had a question :)2 points
-
Where exactly did I ask that question ? All I wrote was just informing there were several new releases available . I totally understand you don't need new though , being on a Pentium D. As for no obligation , I might somewhat disagree . Even though I understand there are no direct obligations , we still help each other no matter what. This is what this forum is for . For example , I'd gladly help you or anyone else whenever needed. Perhaps even if I'm busy.2 points

It looks like Mozilla at least keeps the user informed and in control: That's the way it should be. You can disable it, or choose a DoH provider other than the default Cloudflare. I don't entirely trust Mozilla, but I trust them more than Google!2 points

The latest version of putty (https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html) does not run in XP. However, it works applying patchPE to the exes. Except for pageant, that in this latest and the previous version generates an error.2 points

no, it will not run x86 apps, it's an entirely different architecture from x86. Itanium IA64 was bad at what it was designed to do, it was slow even back then.1 point

dmiranda, thank you for that. It didn't solve my all problems but it may a great milestone for my research motivation after than. I tried now and it's still working with Google Drive as you said. I have Amazon, Icloud and one more local service. Can't try with others in CarotDAV menu. Amazon and Icloud, no success unfortunately. Btw, maybe after some try-fail it may work with Google IMAP but till now i can't do it. (tried ports 993 or 465 or more but no way) Still, that little software which seems from 90's (favorite times of web for me) a good catch. Thanks again.1 point

Hmmm ... for some reason (I don't know why) 12 (for me) is worse than v13 Perhaps I didn't tweak it properly and gave up on it too soon and decided I preferred @Humming Owl's DCBrowser over 360V12; but again, I will give it another try as DC Browser is now too obsolete. By the way, DC Browser has been updated several times and I checked upstream and its been updated to a new version, but like @NotHereToPlayGames stated, we're talking about browser that will work on XP and I don't know that would/is the case. I'll do the best I can with V13 but with only 2gb of reliable memory, its not promising for me and V11 thus far does what I need and I prefer the Arctic Foxie un googled versions.1 point

I don't think @looking4awayout is around any more. His last post on this forum was Sept. 2020. But I think you can still tailor his UOC patches as you wish. They are merely text files containing very simple JavaScript: just a series of calls of the pref function to set default preferences before the user preferences in your profile are processed. You can edit them or create your own with any text editor - even Notepad.1 point

That's different! You and I are both on XP. Which is / was the "targeted audience" (ie, as if my skin didn't tell the end-user that, lol).1 point

Yeah, you're right! Probability of using 360Chrome v11: for @XPerceniol 50% and for @AstroSkipper 50% too. That's a classical Laplace distribution! Of course, my favourite pants! Never worn any other pants!1 point

I see ... I'm also beginning to think I represent 50% of the V11 users as it would appear, now, its just myself and you on V11. I don't know, too bad more people didn't take to this project as it was (still is) a great learning tool and opportunity to benefit from chromium even on older systems. Guess, you could also blame me @NotHereToPlayGames as I've also been asking you to update V11 into something new a "all the rage" Lol with the "hip crowd", ya know, the cool ones with grease in their hair ... wait ... what era is this we're in?? Eh, I wouldn't go that far, violence begets violence. These devs are the products of hyper-capitalist society based on everything being rushed and relying on huge framework libraries. You'd need some kind of systematic change. Thankfully, I still get by with Pale Moon mostly, sometimes I "need" Firefox (*cough* *cough* Skype *cough* work-related *cough*), but Edge (Chromium based) is the absolute last resort and I'd prefer it to stay that way. I'm also of opinion one should at least be equipped with a decent computer made at least since around 2009 or so, too old is just self-torture. At least that's my speculation from personal experience, I actually went straight from 2002 tech (with slight upgrades) to 2009 tech, 'been content ever since.1 point

I use two screens, LG W2361V (2009) and Samsung SyncMaster 710N (2004). If I'm not mistaken, first one is LED while the second is CCFL. The effect of changing color in the evening is helpful as far as I'm concerned regardless of which screen I'm looking at. I use f.lux every once in a blue moon when booting to some older Windows. I normally use Windows 10's Night light, which is good enough unless you "need" something fancier.1 point

My Firefox 3.6 problem has been solved! Remember that Firefox 36 vc71-20171108 NewNSS would not run for me, even on XP? Well, when trying what you suggested, moving the files and folders around, I noticed something. In the unpacked folders there was a folder called "defualts". It should of course be called "defaults"! I corrected the typo, and it now all works fine, including retrieving the downloads from the Trend Micro page! Who would have believed that it would be something like that? I've checked the package, and the folder name seems to be OK there, so how it got changed is a complete mystery to me. I would certainly have had no reason to do it. Anyway, all's well that ends well there, I just hope it now keeps working. I'd still like to get K-Meleon 74 working better though, so I'm happy to carry on experimenting with that. Cheers, Dave.1 point

Good to hear that MS fixed your issue @VistaLover. I googled around but found no similar reports. One thing to note: Server 2008 only has Windows Defender if Desktop Experience is installed. Otherwise, System Center Endpoint Protection would be the MS security solution for enterprise customers running 2008 SP2, and it looks like MS will end support for the old SCEP version on July 12, 2022: https://redmondmag.com/articles/2021/10/11/system-center-2012-support.aspx?m=11 point

Finally, some good news! After a faulty 1.367.4xx.0 series of WD definitions, which included buggy mpasdlta.vdm files of versions 1.367.413.0, 1.367.415.0, 1.367.423.0, 1.367.432.0, 1.367.435.0, 1.367.447.0, 1.367.457.0, 1.367.472.0, 1.367.487.0, 1.367.491.0, WD defs of v1.367.494.0 and higher are, once again, "OK", i.e. they no longer cause WD's Windows service to crash under Vista SP2 ; series "5xx" is already "out", I successfully ran a "Quick Scan" with v1.367.502.0 : ... I won't go as far as saying that MS staff monitor this thread (), but either via internal testing or via some other party reporting it to them, the issue has been identified and mitigated... Until the next c*ck up and until Jan 2023 (when I expect WD+MSE standalone defs to be retired by MS) ...1 point

At the Windows 11 OOBE, On newer bulids, You can't select the option to use a offline account. Like the XBOX One. Working around it is pretty simple. Note:This workaround was made by Microsoft, Meaning it's unlikely it will be removed. Tested on 21H2. 1.At the create account screen, Hit SHIFT+F10. You'll see a command prompt window. 2. Type 'oobe\bypassnro' or cd oobe and then 'bypassnro' Your computer will reboot. 3.Then once the reboot completes hit 'continue with limited setup' and on your way! Comment if there's any problems. -Nerdulater1 point

As another probable solution you can use @heinoganda's certificate updater for XP. I used it on Win 7 and worked to solve some certificate issues I got a while ago. It is a manual process but some people would prefer it over an automatic update. https://msfn.org/board/topic/175170-root-certificates-and-revoked-certificates-for-windows-xp/?do=findComment&comment=1110568 Cheers.1 point

I suspect that this type of reasoning is made up by people who aren't or haven't any farming experience. I did work (and live) on a farm for some time and I can say that it makes no different if there is DST or not. You work from sunrise to sunset (or beyond but indoors) and you determine what time to wake up based on what time the sunrise is the next day.1 point
