  1. What is your budget? How much are you willing to spend?
  2. I wonder why people are so reluctant in switching over to the 64 bit platform. Honestly is MS even selling x64 copies of XP? I mean if I buy a comp from Voodoopc that is 64 bit will they bundle me a copy of a 64 bit Xp?
  3. Just turn off the security nanny then! I mean you are all grown up so I am sure you know what is safe and what is not! Turn off the firewall and the security center and so on so forth. You save some resources as well. And if you are behind a router you are quite safe.
  4. Ho hum did you notice if any of your personal setting in your user account get messed up? I think that could be it. What were you doing prior to something like this happening to your machine? Were you trying to tweak something?
  5. I had this question myself and frankly after nLite installing the other softwares for me at least do not take more than 2 hours. Then another additional hour to get all sorts of registry tweaks and turning of services and so on. I cant believe it took the first poster 12 hours to reinstall his setup!!! Thats insane!!! WOW!
  6. Curious what the benefits of installing this way are.
  7. What are the advantages to using 11 over 10?
  8. Nice thanks for the info.
  9. And also what stock timings and clock speeds everything is running on.
  10. Hmm...I have read changin boot screens is trouble enuf!!! Sorry to hear about your problems but it is a good thing you were using VMware because one time like a jackass I tried to mod the bootscreen and I lost all my data......which was not too bad cause I had backups.
  11. Dont like smokers!
  12. Cool thanks.
  13. Yes I dont like Limewire but did you know Azureus was written in Java as well and it runs **** fast!! It is a darn good desktop app if you ask me!
  14. Anyone care to explain why disable quick launch?
  15. Could this be the "page" you guys are looking for heheheheh? http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/1015/
  16. Hahahahaha
  17. I have reservations about using this tweak because I have not yet read a satisfactory explanation on the benefits of increasing this. DMA as I learned from my architecture class is a hack...an x86 legacy...for device drivers. No other hardware architecture uses this. Hnece my doubts.
  18. Doesnt the task manager have something liike that under the networking tab?
  19. Well I voted for AMd but if you are talking about P4 with the northwood core and if you are comparing that with the AMD athlon xp then ok I will still choose AMD. But are you talking about the 64 bit procs or what? Cause I think it is retarded to get a desktop with an Intel proc in it!
  20. Java is a great language but it has not become mainstream in terms of desktop apps simply because of that fact that the basic premise of Java to write once and run anywhere requires that the program run on top of a virtual machine and that is why there is a long time to load up the program. Though performance has improved and though I am an avid Java fan I still dont think that despite all its improvements in JDK 1.5 in terms of performance Java still has a long while to go. There are options however where you wrote the app in Java but then you compile it into an exe file and you run it natively thus giving you full speed. I am working on getting my Java cert next week for the programmer version and then hope to get the dev exam out of the way as well if I pass the programmer exam first!
  21. I am about to take the Java programmers certification soon...and then the developer cert...is this A+ for hardware builders?
  22. Agree with above poster....how much are you willing to spend and AMD is definitely the right choice. There is also another thread in this very forum a few threads below talking about the best socket 939 mobos that are available that you can check out. Hope that helps. Sorry for the dbl post!
  23. Haha hbinded nice sig! If I build a desktop I am definitely sticking 2 x 500 gig hdds in there with RAID 0.
  24. Wow 2k3. That must have cost a pretty penny to get a copy of that! And does nLite play well with 2k3?
  25. Well the title says it all....I was wondering what the best hi-res web cam was available for XP users of course. That is one thing where I am rather jealous of Mac users....their IChat with the H.264 support is awesome. It has vdo conferencing features as well and it makes me drool.....anyone knows something similar to that for us poor XP users?
