Hi Experts, I am facing a strange problem in my Vista laptop. Every time I connect something to my USB port, I get Safely Remove Hardware Icon on the task bar which is quite normal. When I click and select the device, it says 'device can now safely be removed' which is also normal. But the problem is, it is not actually deactivating the device. If I try the same on my other laptop everything is working fine. It is deactivating the device and the light on the USB device goes off. Is this some problem with the hardware/USB (or) something missing/deactived in my Vista installation? Any help from the experts? Thanks & Regards Chandu

Dynaletik, Its a corporate firewall and we can't disable. Yes... I agree that we can't do many things on net with this restriction...

I used a tool called 'Registry Compact', but after that also when I restarted the system worked fine. I am getting this problem after one day now... When I right click 'start' and click on 'Open' it is going to the user folder that means it may not be a problem with profile path also.... Is there anyway to restore to defaults...

Hi All, I am facing a strange problem with my windows XP machine today. When I click on the 'Start' -> Programs, nothing gets displayed the programs list to be diplayed is showing empty. But, every thing else works fine. When I go to any programs installation folder in 'Program Files\xxx' directory and run the application, everything works fine. Hi, thanks for the info. I have already tried the trick mentioned there. I am able to display thumnails but not for all the Video files. But my problem is thumbnails not displayed for cerian files. Eg: files with same extension also, some are displaying thumbnail some are not. One more thing I observed is erlier it used to create thumbs.db in the folder now it is not creating.

Hi All, I have a Windows XP Machine with SP2. I am not able to view the thumbnails of videos properly. - MPEG files are showing half-truncated Media Player Icon as the thumbnail. - AVI files are showing the Video thumbnail but they are also truncated only top left corner of video image visible. Anyone faced this problem erlier? Can anyone suggest how to coreect it. Thanks...

Is there any theme available to have windows xp in Black & White(Monochrome) mode on a color monitor? (Or) Any other method to achieve this? -chandu
