  1. Tis a DVD iso...he figured he would download and then burn into a few cds....so he was asking if that was possible is all.
  2. From what I have seen the windows time is pretty accurate.
  3. Wow that is weird. Hmm...have you tried directly connecting your comp instead of going through the router?
  4. I would go with Zxian's suggestion that is for sure. But I think that you really dont have too many things installed. It seems you have 1.1 and 2.0 beta installed.....and also the hotfixes for 1.1....but yeah I would get rid of all of them, clean out the registry and then reinstall.
  5. I usually dont bothe much with the swap file. My idea is this as long as you have a lot of memory you are not going to cause the hdd to thrash. So why worry about swapage? Most of the time with a lot of mem you wont access the hdd but in the off chance you do, since Windows itself is managing the page file it should be optimal by default. thats how I see it.
  6. Is he prob looking for a site that has some files in store so that if you corrupt them by accident you can go and download and replace the corrupted file perhaps? I dont think there is anything like that....
  7. Well I think that with more popularity comes more hostility from malware writers. So this is only to be expected. No software is perfect.
  8. Haha thanks Aegis....but from what I see not really worth upgrading...
  9. Hehe thanks for the update. Usually when I turn on Winamp it says if there is a new update available....but not this time for some weird reason. Checked out the site and found out that the version is 5.1 Surround Edition or something like that.....that right?
  10. Sweet. Didnt know about Total Recorder....I have always used SoundForge for anything with sound. Works pretty cool.
  11. Intel blows...look at benchmarks and just keep quite peeps. Intel was dominating in media benchmarks but not anymore! For those who are hardware oriented a nice piece on future processor manufacturing technology http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20051020-5462.html
  12. I think there was a program called xplite was it...that let you turn off protection adn turn it back on...I am sure someone else will post quite shortly to help you out.
  13. Cool will be wiating for ur results. Somehow I dont know if it should help any. I think in certan scenarios the makers of XP made sure that it was optimized given certain parameters. Maybe having such large page files is good in some scenarios like running a server or something and maybe it is not beneficial if you are running a home machine. who knows? I dont!
  14. So what is the beenfit of 7 over 6.6? Is it really beneficial or is it just another way to repackage something that is essentially the same? It is not like the software will be able to make your burner burn faster or anything.

Yeah heard about this website but never really used it. Looks pretty cool tho!
  16. I usually wait for a version or two to increase before I upgrade the drivers. Have not been gaming much lately. And also the newer games dont have much of an appeal to me. Splinter Cell 3 was really the last game i got into. That and Battlefield 2. I also wait for the omegadrivers.
  17. I think it is time to upgrade my friend! Yike a 4200?! You are like what 3 generations behind? Isnt that a DX 7 part?
  18. Hey that must be a pretty cool office to work at if all your coworkers know about Battlefield 2!
  19. I dont know about toaster hot. Shizz my bro got an HP with an amd 64 clocked at 2ghz and that processor is insanely fast esp in computation intensive applications!!! I couldnt believe how it smoked my 3.4 ghz desktop proc from Intel! **** forget Intel! AMD all the way.
  20. Thanks for the heads up.
  21. Yeah. I just downloaded last night the release candidate and I am going to stick with it for a while till they release the first update to OOo2.0. Too much hassle reinstalling and so on....
  22. Have heard of minlogon but never really used it or got to know how to use it....seems intriguing though!
  23. Hehe they need to bring the price down. Honestly I dont think XP is worth the price they are charging on the market. Heck we see OS X to be cheaper than XP. And it has more features....though I hate that everytime an update comes out for OS X you have to shell out money for it....whereas MS makes the updates for free......so I guess it is kind of a balanced out situation.
  24. Make sure your install of XP is an nLite install. Make sure you turn of system restore, and indexing service if you are not using it. Make sure that you go here : http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/i...w/registry-fix/ and apply some of the filesytem tweaks, like disabling tiemstamps and so on to speed up hdd performance. Also go to cmd prompt and type in without quotes "diskperf -N". Go to www.blackviper.com and check out what services you can disable just as teh above poster said. Also check out tweaks that could apply to you in conjunction to the above mentioned registry site...www.tweakxp.com. And get executive diskkeeper pro. CHange the MFT setting to the recommended setting. Get CCleaner and System Mechanic so you are able to keep the registry light and also you are able to defrag and compact the registry before reboot using System Mechanic. Then do a boot time defrag using Executive Diskkeeper once all your softwares are installed so every thing gets optimzied on the hdd for maximum performance. And if possible upgrade RAM. Hope all this helps and I didnt confuse you. Also this forum is great for people who want to tweak the s**t out of their comps so keep searching and reading posts.
