  1. hahahahahhahahhahhahah thats an awesome vidd! Everything from Finding Nemo, to the Rock to Monty Python! Brilliantly done! I wonder how they were able to use some of those camera angles on the characters. They prob recorded from the perspective of 1 person looking at the other....awesome stuff...enjoyed it tremendously! ahaha
  2. Nice numbers dude. AS really really works. If i wasnt scared to open up my laptop i would have installed AS ASAP!
  3. He sounds like a rather mean brother to want to limit his upload and download...
  4. godogg I dunno if you have been asked this question before but I will ask it anyway for my own curiosity. So in your sig it says windows currently @ 57 mb...is that the windows install cd size or is it literally the windows folder in the harddrive post install?
  5. Heh that is a good question. I guess there could be situations where the requirement to connect to the net might be a possibility so he just wants to be sure. Anyway it is good to know that you can get the updates some other way like that.
  6. That was a very helpful post...to know for reference. Thanks a lot rumbia.
  7. I read Seagate is coming out with a laptop hard drive with a 160 gb storage capacity and 7200 rpm rotational speed....early next year...I cant wait...honestly the 60 gig hdd in my laptop aint cutting it!
  8. You guys can check out the hexus.net article on performance of the ATI as well. It is a great part with an all new architecture no doubt but I would wait till the Nvidia gets released with 512 mb of memory as well so that will be a fair comparison with the ATI cards.
  9. That is awesome! I am looking forward to your presentation! That would be a landmark day indeed when the fastest XP is a community driven project! Heck I would gladly pay for a copy of this OS!
  10. Spybot alone is enough for me...but MS is not bad either.
  11. One post said Windows Firewall rocks...I dont know enuf about it so someone care to enlighten me why it rocks? I voted for zone alarm...didnt know about the other contender sygate. Will check it out if I ever need it.
  12. DiskKeeper....hands down.
  13. Haha thanks for the advice! And nice info on UltraVNC...sneaky!
  14. Meh its aight I guess...some dev at MS decided he himself would find this feature rather useful so he just made a patch for adding tools into msconfig? Thats prob it. Thanks for the instructions to get it to work.
  15. Glad you got it fixed...didnt know RAID drivers affect hibernation though now that I think about it it makes an awful lot of sense!
  16. Release and benchmarks as well...boot up times, app loadup times, some 3d benches...see if games get an overall boost or not. Honestly I wont see the appeal in shrinking XP to the point where performance does not go up anymore!
  17. Your second link shows you used a hotfix pack. I am not good at German at all haha but that is what I understood. Yes the patches will download normally. But then crash and burn when it comes to installing them. That is from personal experience... Sorry buddy but the best I can do is be a bit more patient and check out some other threads of users with similar problems under the nLite section. Anyone else care to offer their insights?
  18. Not having seen HDR in action I cannot comment on it but from what I have read on reviews online its either a love it or hate it feature.
  19. Actually 3dmark scores mean jack...check out more reviews from beyond3d, driverheaven, xbitlabs, firingsquad. While the ATI card has less pipelines...16 compared to 24 from Nvidia, the performances are more or less the same overall because the ATI has a slight edge at really high resolutions with AA and AF enabled....whereas the Nvidia just beats the pants off of the ATI at OpenGL based apps. But being that there are more and more games running on DX instead of OpenGL I guess that is not much of an impact. I am interested in seeing next gen engines like Unreal Engine 3 and the Stalker game engine being run on these hardwares.
  20. I know what update you are talking about. But I have been unsucessful at getting the tools tab. I dont know if there is something funky going or if that hotfix wont work with nLited installs or not. Basically nothing happened after I installed the hotfix so I just uninstalled it. It was a half meg download of nothing.
  21. That is exactly how I created my nLite cd. I didnt bother with the update packs because really it took me 5 minutes to validate my XP, download the updates after SP2 and then reboot with everything updated.
  22. See I think therein lies your problem. You used the hotfix pack right? Ryanvm has one that i am familiar with and I didnt know there was another one floating around. While the use of the pack is pretty cool, it does have some problems with the ovreambitious deleting of certain files required for future updates. You my friend need to make a new install cd. But before you do that, tell me what kind of errors you are getting. IS the system running for a long time trying to update the patches and then throws an error? I am almost a 100% sure that the hotfix packs are the culprit. I therefore dont use the hotfix packs anymore. I suffered the same problem as you are with my last nlite cd when I used hotfix packs as well. But this time when I reinstalled I did not bother with that. To me its not worth it. I just hit Windows Update and got updated in 5 minutes.
  23. Also there should be an option under power options in the control panel. You prob have hibernate disabled there.
  24. Agree with gamehead....good luck
  25. May I ask why you are increasing the size of the DMA buffer? Are you hoping to gain overall I/O performance increases?
