how to make multiboot with Hiren, ERDCommander 2007
Arie replied to truonglv's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
I would suggest asking this on the EasyBoot forum. Otherwise, look into SYSLINUX to make a multiboot disc. -
Be honest, you didn't read the FAQ, did you? You seem to have no clue as to what you are doing...? I'll try to explain it short and as simple as possible. You can use nLite to make an unattended installation disc of Microsoft Windows XP. You can apply various tweaks to your installation source files, so that once you install Microsoft Windows XP, these tweaks get applied straight away. These tweaks can be anything from disabling services, changing visual aspects, et cetera. By adding Service Packs and hotfixes you can make sure that the installation source files are fully up to date, which means that once Microsoft Windows XP is installed, it will be fully up-to-date. You can also add applications to your installation source files. These applications will be installed automatically either already during the installation of Microsoft Windows XP, or once the installation of Microsoft Windows XP is finished. You can't simply add all applications to nLite; you will have to make add-on packages yourself or download pre-built ones. Read more about that in the previously mentioned FAQ as well as here. This means that once your whole unattended setup is complete, you'll have a fully up-to-date installation of Microsoft Windows XP, which has all kinds of tweaks applied so you don't have to do those manually anymore and there are already several applications installed, so that saves you the work of installing those as well. I hope this makes things a bit more clear. Make sure that you read through all the documentation available. Applications such as nLite are very easy to use, so you shouldn't have any problems. Download pre-built application packages and extract those; inspect the contents to learn how they are set up and how they work. Read, read, read. Don't expect to be spoon fed. Good luck and if you have any questions after reading through all the documentation, trying yourself first, please post them here still. There are a lot of people here who are willing to help, but you need to show that you're willing to learn and investigate yourself. All this is not meant in a bad way; I hope it helps you.

Since there is already such a thread here, why create a new one and not simply contribute to the already existing one?

You could apply a registry file via login script as well.

RunOnceEx install list isn't showing!
Arie replied to Gompedyret's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Nah, don't think so. Same problem here. Used to work fine, until a more recent built where all of a sudden the screen would not appear, but the installation of the software did run, you just didn't see this window. I believe that Gray could be on to something. I guess it's a patch which blocks this window from showing up. Gray mentioned KB939653 in his post. I'll have a look this evening to see if I include it and what would happen if I wouldn't include it. Anyone else with a simular experience? -
Final version of Ubuntu 7.10 has been released by now. Grab it here.

With the current hardware which people use, compressing the contents of a hard drive is seldomly required. It's not advisory either.

Your question can't be answered that easily. The most important question is, what do you use your system for? Also, do you use software which is Microsoft Windows specific, or would you consider switching to a different, free operating system such as Linux? By simply looking at the specifications of your system which you supplied, I would simply suggest Microsoft Windows XP Home with Service Pack 2. Simply boot from the disc and create two partitions; one of 30GB and one of 50GB. You can use the first for your operating system and the second one for your personal data and files. Format the 30GB partition and install the operating system on it. After the installation update your system and configure it properly. Make sure to install a proper anti-virus and anti-spyware solution. This should get you started.

NERO 7.xx (All Versions) EASY TO SILENT + REG
Arie replied to midi2k6's topic in Application Installs
Thank you for the short guide. Will give it a try this evening hopefully. -
I honestly have no idea what you're on about... If you want to know how certain applications work, I suggest reading the help files which come with the application in question and by using Google to look for documentation.

Advanced Batch scripting Question ;)
Arie replied to Valvaris's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
You can delete Windows Messenger as follows: rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %SystemRoot%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove As for quite some of the other things you want, install a freeware Registry monitor such as RegShot, make the changes you want on a test system and monitor the Registry to see which keys are changed. Import those via your batch script and you're done. -
you also need to apply the reg file (from the installation folder) after registered. Try that
Wake up there This topic is over one year old now!

Probably a problem with PE as with XP the above works. I don't believe that VPC2007 supports PE.

Not nLite related. I would advice you to ask a moderator to move your topic to the correct forum.

Advanced Batch scripting Question ;)
Arie replied to Valvaris's topic in Programming (C++, Delphi, VB/VBS, CMD/batch, etc.)
You can do quite a lot of these things via a batch file, maybe even all. For some you will need to import registry keys from your batch file. Hints? What have you done thus far yourself? -

What do you mean by "it is not going forward"? -
I would suggest asking Ryan instead

Not nLite related, so you should have posted this in the Software Hangout. But to reply to your question, you could give Alcohol a try. They offer a freeware and a paid version of their software.

Threatfire complement to antivirus
Arie replied to mamas6667's topic in Malware Prevention and Security
Agreed. The reporting of false positives seems to be a built in feature, to convince users that their software discovers more than other applications do. Avoid! -
Make sure that you run nLite as an Administrator. Disable Windows Defender while running nLite. Also disable any anti-virus or anti-spyware application which you are using. Make sure that the directories where all the files are localed don't show those annoying security pop-ups asking you to continue if you copy files to them, et cetera. If it's still not working properly afterwards, contact Nuhi about it, who created nLite.
