I've created a silent installation package for IE7Pro 1.2, which also adds several additional dictionaries. IE7Pro includes a custumisable web site overview page called Easy Home. I would like to configure Easy Home in advance, so that once my silent installation package for IE7Pro completes, Easy Home is already configured to my liking. Does anyone know how this can be done? I have watched for file and registry changes, but cannot discover where these Easy Home changes are saved. The HTML-file is included in a DLL-file and I can therefore not edit and save it. res://C:\Program%20Files\IE7Pro\IE7ProRs.dll/easyhome.html

I would like the uninstall string to point to the correct path, hence the wish for a variable. If it's hard coded to look at the C-drive, it won't uninstall if it should have looked at for instance the D-drive instead to uninstall. Is there another way to solve this, as apperantly it's not possible to change the uninstall path to a variable? Can the file TitanLog.log be removed safely, or does it break the installation?

After having looked at your LOG-file for two seconds I already noticed several things which do not belong there. You are missing many updates and several included updates should be removed because they are either replaced, unnecessary or not even compatible with your installation. Also, why are SFC_OS.DL_ and SYSSETUP.DL_ in your FIX folder? The following files in your HF folder should be removed for starters: Windows-KB913433-x86-PLK.exe WindowsMedia6-KB925398-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB319740-v5-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB885222-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB887742-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB888111-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB889673-x86-PLK.exe For as far as I could quickly see, the following files in your HF folder are not required: WindowsXP-KB884020-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB884883-v8-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB889527-v3-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB896256-v4-x86-PLK.exe I don't know the following two files in your HF folder, but judging by their names they're codecs meant for Windows Media Player 6 and Windows Media Player 9, so they would not be needed then. WM9Codecs.exe wmp6cdcs.exe Please note that I did not check the following files; I didn't want to spoil all the fun for you WindowsXP-KB896358-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB896423-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB896428-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB896626-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB899587-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB899591-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB900485-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB900725-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB901017-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB901190-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB901214-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB902400-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB904412-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB904706-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB905414-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB905749-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB906569-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB908519-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB910437-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB911280-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB911562-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB913538-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB913580-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB914388-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB914389-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB916595-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB917021-v3-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB917537-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB917953-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB918005-v4-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB918118-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB918997-v6-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB919007-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB920670-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB920683-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB920872-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB921503-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB922582-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB922819-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB923191-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB923414-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB923980-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB924270-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB924667-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB924941-v2-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB925902-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB926247-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB926255-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB926436-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB927779-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB927802-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB928255-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB928843-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB929123-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB930178-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB931784-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB935448-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB935839-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB935840-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB936021-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB938127-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB938829-x86-PLK.exe WindowsXP-KB941202-x86-PLK.exe Please go through all the above files to see which ones are needed. Be honest, you didn't bother searching yourself, now did you? By clicking here you will see that 2003 is supported. If specific R2 features can be configured, simply give nLite a try and find out.

The quoted link does indeed not work anymore. Perhaps you found out yourself already, but the links in Shark007's signature do work and the file is available there, as I just downloaded it from there myself I haven't installed it yet, but only took a look in the archive file and I noticed the file TitanLog.log, which I believe can be deleted from the archive. As for the file wlss.reg, the uninstall string at the bottom of the file hard links to the C-drive, which should be changed to %ProgramFiles% in my humble opinion. Nothing which I cannot do myself, but I thought I would let you know Shark007.

Thank you for informing us of what you want. Now, what is your question? For starters, read "Complete Beginners Guide to nLite Unattended CD's" and "What Not To Remove For Some Programs". This should get you on your way.

If you don't want a password set, you would have to use the following: NET USER xp * /ADD To have the account login automatically the first time, import the following into the Registry during installation: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] "DefaultUserName"="xp" "DefaultPassword"="" "AutoAdminLogon"="1" Hope this helps.

I have never experienced any problems with Symantec products such as AntiVirus or Endpoint Security. As for Norton, it cannot be compared to Symantec. It uses more system resources and bugs the user more with alerts and such. I've used Norton 360 for a test spin, but it didn't compare to Symantec. I never advice Norton, always Symantec.

Why not simply burn a bootable DVD with the Ghost image? You could add the Ghost executable to the bootfiles of the DVD.

Adding a new shortcut to Control Panel
Arie replied to Arie's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I found out what the problem is with the border. When you open the Control Panel, the icon does have a border. This is how it should indeed look. However, if you open the Control Panel cascaded from the Start Menu, the icon should not have a border. Thank you very much for your help, but please don't bother fixing this "problem". The reply of "os2fan2" above helped me solve this whole issue myself. I downloaded Uuidgen.Exe from the Microsoft web site and used it to generate a CLSID. I used this CLSID in my REG-file, which you can see below. It works like a charm now and the icon displays correctly in the Control Panel (with a border) as well as in the Control Panel when it's cascaded in the Start Menu (without a border); see attached screenshot (the top one in red is mine, the bottom in red one is yours). Thanks again for your help! You too "os2fan2"! Oh, and thanks to "Oisin" for the REG_EXTEND_SZ hint! Unattended install from OEM XP Pro disk
Arie replied to Jacqui's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
There you have your answer -
What version of Media Player do you have installed? Upgrade it to the latest version or reinstall it.
-
What did you use to integrate IE7 into your source? I personally use HFSLIP and I have no problems.
-
I thought I would share this with you. Some updates which I didn't find listed on Tomcat76's list, but which I do include in my source. - KB907265 (MMC 3.0 Update) - KB917021 (Wireless Client Update) - KB922120 (LLTD Responder) - KB925720 (Windows CardSpace Hotfix Rollup Package) - KB936021 (Microsoft XML Core Services 3.0 Security Update) There are also new versions available of the following two updates, which are both outdated on the before mentioned list: - KB936357 (Intel Processors Microcode Reliability Update Version 2) - (Microsoft Update Catalog Engine) MuCatalogWebControl.cab There are three more useful CAB-files which I include in the HFCABS-folder: - ultrashim.cab (Adobe Shockwave Player) - wuredist.cab (Windows Update Redistributable) - (Windows Update Engine) wuweb_site.cab I'm doubtful however if wuredist.cab is required, as the standalone Windows Update Agent 3.0 is included in the HF-folder?
-
You don't need nLite for that necessarily.
-
You could simply follow the guide and replace the mentioned files. Use nLite on this source. You'll encounter one problem though, which is quite big, and that is that your install won't be unattended since you will need to click through various driver signing screens and such as mentioned in the guide. In other words, why would one even bother using nLite still if it can't make your installation unattended or why would even want to make an installation such as this unattended?
-
The above can be done by applying registry tweaks. Monitor your registry while you make the changes to find out which keys get changed.

Adding a new shortcut to Control Panel
Arie replied to Arie's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Tested it. It does indeed add an icon to the Control Panel, but the name of the icon is wrong; it should be LightScribe, instead of LiteScribe. Besides that, the icon seems to look different compared to the normal LightScribe icon; it seems to have some kind of border? Is it possible for you to please fix these two points? -
