  2. I decide to give a shot GPT Loader with Windows 2000.. but even without any GPT disk connected, reboot with and withou PAE always end with infamous 000*00x7B boot error.. Its on the Ivy Bridge machine with Intel 7x chipset in AHCI mode. I can confirm that Paragon GPT Loader Worked fine with Marwell chip controller in XP as normal data drive for games etc, on drive bigger than 2 TB if my memory serves.. Yeah i never worked with Intel chipsets im not sure about Asmedias. I bought Paragon long time ago, im not sure if was using older version than probably - 10.0.16.12944_000, its really shame that they integrated newer version in HDD Manager 15 and their support or online account not even anounced it Check this is seems to be alternative solution: https://article-pchome-net.translate.goog/content-1324506-all.html?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=es&_x_tr_pto=wapp

  4. and..., yet another caveat: I still use g4d 4.5c with ahci/nvme memory-mapping-based ramboot patch, the fastest ramloading implement I have found so far, altough it leaves us at least one version behind. unfortunately good old Kai Schtrom, the inventor of svbus, has not made the remapping kinda thing compatible with g4d 4.6a. this possibility is apparently even more remote if we consider the invasion of uefi-based mobos that, albeit probably wrongly, convinced many people to go along for the innovation ride in order to feel on the safe side (lest it should not work as it used to during the bios-based-mobo era. I say probably wrongly because the find line in the menu.lst file can be successfully adjusted to a full UEFI scenario. to cut a long story short, at least with new mobos, which still have a csm facility, the problem that might arise is the system's failure to boot even after mapping ok. I solved it with disktuna, a very effective disk and vhd analyzer, defragger, optimizer and converter. I suggest u should run it both on the host disk (for outer vhd contiguity) and each of the vhds u use after mounting them, one by one. it will spare u various headaches if u use this ahci/nvme patch.
  5. Well now 12 years later, virtually every machine has more than 8 GB of Ram.. and to use it, you would need DataCenter OP version which has its own sort of the problems or increase hack to support memory. There hack for WinXP to Win10 32 bit to use 128 GB, but it seems that nobody bother to port it for Win2000, when i tried 128 GB universal how its for WIndows XP/2003 and above.
  6. Now that i got my NT 4.0 VM back,i have tested ScummVM and DosBox-X and these work. So if there's any app you want me to test, tell me about it.
  7. I wonder its possible to add project on GIthub more people be able to learn and contribute?
  8. I just started using StartAllBack and get this strange disaplay error (see enclosed picture). Seems like the taskbar is shifted to far to the left. Anyone one now why this is happening. Usually it look OK, then suddenly this error happends...
  9. Is it possible to add a feature to hide taskbar thumbnail previews, as ExplorerPatcher used to do on Windows 10?
  10. The trouble I have is with the start menu icon. I have a flag icon PNG file in three different sizes. But all shows to big when I try to use them. And they are not scaled to the height of the taskbar. Is there any place I can fix this? I also use OpenShell for a classic Win98 style start menu. But that start menu icon is "overwritten" by the one in StartAllBack 🙂 Tried using a transparent icon in StartAllBack, and that kind of half works. But sometime then the start menu button disappear 🙂
  11. @Zorba the Geek Not sure if you should update VC++ 2019 found the final version of Windows XP that installed all dll api correctly Link x86 https://archive.org/download/msdn-compilations-p2/Microsoft Visual C%2B%2B Redistributable/2015-2019/Microsoft Visual C%2B%2B 2015-2019 Redistributable (x86) - 14.29.30024.exe x64 https://archive.org/download/msdn-compilations-p2/Microsoft Visual C%2B%2B Redistributable/2015-2019/Microsoft Visual C%2B%2B 2015-2019 Redistributable (x64) - 14.29.30024.exe
  12. Strange, but it appears that the issue has completely resolved itself.

  14. Update: So i was able to get rid of the outdated driver related error that would happen when a usb drive was plugged in by doing the following - rename "wmdmps.dll" and "wmpnssci.dll" to "wmdmps.dll.bak" and "wmpnssci.dll.bak", and the driver error went away. the suggestion was given by chatgpt. for the two files, one of them resides in the program folder and the other one is in system32. Additionally i was able to get "0.65.0.47-git" version of lavfilters to work in replacement of the lavfilters.ax file that is used in combined community codec package 2015-10-18, which uses 0.65.0.05. Simply copy the newer "lavsplitter.ax" from the "0.65.0.47-git" package (which you can get online) into the "Filters" folder of the installed cccP program files folder, as well as into the "LAVFilters" folder, but the "lavsplitter.ax" file that resides in this folder is case sensitive and must read exactly "LAVSplitter.ax", otherwise, it will not work. 0.66 version of lavfilters were not able to work on my system that has "Windows2000-UURollup-v11-d20141130-x86-ENU" installed.
  15. Check out here. While it is still up, anyway :)
  16. Well, this would be a solution for many retro systems. A person could probably make a small Linux router for the task. Maybe a RPI-zero or something. For virtual machines, one might also be able to modify Qemu, or intercept it's traffic. Something on a bare metal install, without a router, might still be nice. @FranceBB, thanks for commenting. Glad people are thinking about it.

  18. So I updated my Vista SP2 x64 to 2016, still no joy. Chromium for Windows 7 by e3kskoy7wqk starts with the same method! Ideas? I don't understand what else CatsXP wants, aren't those both made for win 7?
  19. What for? It's obsolete, no matter how good it was 2 years ago. D.Draker no longer recommends this browser due to the age. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186346-i-moved-to-centbrowser-im-not-happy-about-it/page/5/#findComment-1275874
  20. they did this because they want jemalloc to be integrated into C runtime, which is un-recommended by MS later.
  21. At least the acronym (BSoD) will still be valid, since both black and blue begin with the letter 'b' c
  22. If you can install Visual C++ 2008, it will produce Windows 2000 and XP compatible software (but with manifest errors affecting both Visual C++ 2005 and 2008). Mozilla got around that by building "mozcrt19.dll" somehow, but I have not been able to build it. Should I upload the source code and resulting executable?
  23. Okay, is there a modded version of this browser?
  24. I think there is no much difference between vc2005 and vc2008?
  25. Yes I have, but my plan is actually to get New Moon 27 working with Windows 2000 (and XP/SP1), then create a Visual C++ 5.0 build of Firefox 3.0 (I have no idea how to make it work with Windows NT 3.50 or earlier, nor can I test it, but I'll eventually open the door to someone who can). I know I want Gecko 1.9, but I still struggle to figure out if I want the default theme of Firefox 1.5, 2.0, or 3.0.
  26. Hey Nicholas, have you heard Retrozilla 2.3 released updates? Are you gonna merge changes from retrozilla 2.3 to your fork?
  27. Can you see yourself ever using Visual C++ 2008 to produce Windows 2000 and XP RTM/SP1 compatible browsers, or do you need Visual C++ 2005 compatibility? I have a Visual C++ 2008/Windows 7 SDK compatible build of Firefox 35.0a1 I was thinking of uploading, but don't know if I should or not.
  28. ah great to know. i wouldnt have had any idea how to even know what was wrong, because it wouldnt ever show any information at all before the site would crash instantly, in the "Tools => Web Console" (or browswer console) window. Thats good you knew though.
  29. I finally managed to get Firefox 48.0.2 to work on Windows XP RTM! Notes kernelxp.dll stays in the "firefox" directories after patching, or else it will NOT work. The unofficial guide "How to get Firefox 48.0.2 / 45.9.x ESR to work on Windows XP RTM!" is now available. This guide is made by me. https://sites.google.com/view/clara-incorporated/modernization/windows-xp-rtm/firefox-48-0-2-firefox-45-9-x-esr
