  2. Try getting a later version and modify the INF with your device ID and then force install it and see if that works.
  3. In your first post you mentionned that you were using Webrender, is this still true? Did you manually enable it? Because most of these settings only work on W10+. In about:config those two options are for W10+ so maybe you can try setting them to False : gfx.webrender.all -> true (Windows 10/11 only) gfx.webrender.software -> true (Uses CPU instead of GPU but requires Windows 10+) The following options might also need to be reset to their default values : gfx.webrender.enabled gfx.webrender.compositor gfx.webrender.compositor.force-enabled
  4. Thank you, I will have to remember that. The internet seems to have a surprising lack of information regarding the low-level specifics of older versions of Windows (sometimes even Archive.org and the Wayback Machine don't yield much), so it's nice being able to consult with people who know much more about them than I do
  5. ... You're using St55, so the wording there (about:profiles) is still "Restart with Add-Ons Disabled" ; in St52, MCP have reworded that to "Restart in Safe Mode", to more accurately indicate what happens when you click that button... As you've found out already: "Restart with Add-Ons Disabled" != "disable every add-on manually and restart" http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
  6. UPDATE: I've gotten the Windows 7 PE to boot. However, I cannot interact with the Mac at all, even with USB drivers slipstreamed.
  7. Yeah! That did it! It's starting up fine, hasn't crashed again. Now to install extensions, import bookmarks and keep testing to see how it behaves. Thanks Astro!!! First you brought my comment here and then you helped me. You leave me speechless my friend. Thank you!!!
  8. https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=31185 ... Probably for the best that you did not detail there how this "came into your awareness" ; "MSFN" and "VistaLover" strings would have triggered many "alarms" in the official PM forum ; what's of concern, though, is that no-one there has acknowledged the issue so far; FWIW, I would've posted this in a more "visible" subforum like Web Compatibility Support ... Take care ...
  9. @chermany4ever Replace the string %~dp0% by the path to your main Thorium folder! That is the path where the thorium.exe file is located.

  11. Hi ; In the past, I have politely asked you to put some more effort into improving the quality of your problem reports, but it appears I can't get the message through ; indeed, "one picture is worth a thousand words", but in this case it's far from it... Please, provide "clickable links" of the actual problematic URLs and also try to include English translation(s) of the error(s) your Russian-localised OS generates ; if the errors you encounter are manifesting themselves ONLY when being logged-in, few here (including the developer) without a proper account already will go into the trouble of registering just to troubleshoot your errors ... As a rule of thumb, social media portals, be it western (e.g. Facebook) or eastern (e.g. VKontakte) are relentless towards anything "legacy", i.e. H/W, OS, browser; they're veritable beasts of Javascript and CSS that put a heavy tax on older desktop machines; I avoid social media with a passion, but if "one" must use them, better limit "oneself" to a mobile device with a recent version of Android/iOS... Small rant aside , I launched latest NM28 [v28.10.7a1 (32-bit) (2024-05-23)] and tried to load: https://vk.com/megaslava The browser struggled for a few seconds (5-8s) while trying to render huge blobs of code , but in the end the URI was successfully displayed: As a further test, I reloaded that same URI ten (10) consecutive times, not once did I get anything similar to what's contained in your first screenshot ; as I don't have a VK account myself, I only tested as an anonymous VK user ... As for your second screenshot, it would appear VK use serviceWorkers, so in "about:config" just enable them (if not already): dom.serviceWorkers.enabled;true FWIW, I didn't get any of the errors depicted in your second image, probably because I'm not being logged-in ... My friendly advice to you: If you can, use one of the XP-compatible Chromium derivatives for VK.com (and likewise for other "offenders" like Instagram/X/Youtube etc.) ... Regards.
  12. Hope I've done what you ask correctly. By doing so a folder was created called %~dp0% which has more folders and files inside. Actually, a user data folder should be created with the name USER_DATA and not %~dp0%. The whole command starts the browser with some flags which were originally part of the batch file and creates the user data folder USER_DATA if not already existent.
  13. Every time I run the bat I always get a command window that disappears as it appears and nothing happens. Tried to run thorium.exe directly and the same thing happened but generated a debug.log that says: [0528/184635.171:ERROR:registration_protocol_win.cc(136)] TransactNamedPipe: Pipeline has terminated (0x6D). [0528/184635.203:ERROR:crashpad_client_win.cc(144)] crash server failed to launch, self-terminating Hope I've done what you ask correctly. By doing so a folder was created called %~dp0% which has more folders and files inside.
  14. Ok. What did you see when you applied the starter batch file? Open a command line window in the main folder of Thorium and execute the following command: thorium.exe --user-data-dir="%~dp0%\USER_DATA" --allow-outdated-plugins --disable-breakpad --disable-encryption --disable-machine-id What do you see now?
  15. Yep, the first thing I did prior to paste the 3 files into the Thorium folder. While doing it progwrp.dll was the only file to request an overwrite.
  16. Breakage of discourse-based forums/communities under UXP-based browsers (NM28/St52 and probably St55) is an already known issue, that has been reported more times than I'd care to remember ; discourse serve a script that checks for a specific platform feature in the client browser, which isn't present in the UXP platform per se but, at the same time, isn't strictly necessary for the discourse-based forums/communities to function properly - thus, "their" browser-checking script categorises UXP-based browsers as "unsupported" and then "they" serve the "dumbed down" version of the forums ... I have offered two mitigations for this predicament, one based on a custom uBlock Origin filter and another in the form of a userscript (requires a userscript manager to be installed); search my MSFN posts with the keyword "discourse" ; probably inside "My Browser Builds (Part 4, 5)" megathreads...
  17. I use the THORIUM_PORTABLE.bat, too. I try to avoid installing those ported browsers. When you copied these three files of the Chrome XP API Adapter into your Thorium main folder, did you also rename the chrome-win7-xp-api-router.dll file to progwrp.dll?
  18. I've never noticed a difference either, so I too am interested in knowing of any "tests". Quantifiable measurements, no "gut feelings". I've always had better luck with having Hardware Acceleration DISABLED. Largely in part due to needing to screencap from online video conferencing and HW disabled will screencap the video image whereas HW enabled will not (at least on my work laptop).
  19. I beg to differ - I use winntsetup for regular systems, I never use winpe, and I know quite a few people who can share the same situations.
  20. I suppose it should also be asked of all three of the members that always cite these brightness issues - your profiles all cite Vista, are you also all using extended kernel? I suppose "one of these days" I will see if I also get PURE WHITE active tabs for all of these browsers in Vista - but it is very very very "back burner".
  21. Ok guys. Followed the instructions and pasted the 3 files into Thorium folder but now it just won't start. I ran it more than 20 times and nothing. You should know I use THORIUM_PORTABLE.bat 'cause I try to use portables whenever I can. Besides I never install programs in C: and using INSTALL_THORIUM.cmd installs it in C: without options. My programs are always on another partition. Thank you Astro and Dave for the tips! If you think I can try something else and it's no bother let me know.
  22. Is there a way to test GPU acceleration? Chrome://GPU tells me Compositing, webGL & webGPU are enabled, but i can't notice the difference. On the plus side, no negative effects. Almost. WebGL aquarium used to give me blistering 6fps; now the frame rate's improved, but the frames are invisible
  23. No clue where to find "Brave". But I would be willing to bet "your membership" that Brave will show an active tab in PURE WHITE on my system. I will document proof wholly and completely. This whole HUBBUB seems to not revolve around Catsxp/Brave/Supermium/Thorium but rather something SYSTEM-BASED.
  24. "Whatever" At least I'm jumping through all of these hoops to show you "brightness complainers" SOMETHING. This seems to be SYSTEM-BASED. My system simply shows PURE WHITE in real Chrome/Chromium, shows PURE WHITE in Supermium/Thorium, and shows PURE WHITE in CatsXP!
  25. My NVIDIA driver version is 307.83, the last official version I got via the updater from NVIDIA. This version is also the last officially offered one when performing a driver search on their homepage. However, I could update to the more unofficial 307.90 version which was offered by Microsoft but there was never any need to do that. And I don't think such a minor update could change anything. My DirectX version is indeed 9.0c.
