  1. Title of the thread is "MPC-HC and Winrar backported for Windows XP" so anything else is off topic. If you have nothing of value to add to this thread please refrain from making silly comments. I've found what I was looking for elsewhere, so I'll consider this matter closed.
  2. No offence, but your reply is off topic. You're trying to offer assistance for something I didn't ask. Furthermore, having paid a licence for Winrar I want to continue to use it.
  3. I want to use Winrar for this not any other program.
  4. There are archives created with Winrar 7 that can't be unpacked by previous versions. I tried VLC, works but it's not as good as MPC-HC.
  5. Hi guys, I've got a 32bit XP system that I can't upgrade and I'm currently running MPC-HC.1.7.13.32 and Winrar 5.11. I'm looking for the latest versions for both MPC-HC and Winrar backported for XP and couldn't find any. Snipping tool will be also a good program to have under XP. I found videos I can't play anymore and archives I can't unpack anymore (created with Winrar 7) Any ideas? Thanks!
  6. That sounds a bit complicated for me...
  7. Subtitles are one of the reasons. Newer codecs are the most important reason. There are movies I can't play on the latest XP build but can on latest builds that run on 7 and above.
  8. Hi guys, Currently running MPC-HC.1.7.13.32 but can't download any subtitles and can't play certain videos that newer MPC-HC can play. I googled for a newer version backported for XP and couldn't find any. Any ideas? Thanks!
  9. Hi, I've followed your advice and switch from IDE to AHCI using your modified drivers and now my XP works like a charm ! Thank you so much, you are the best ! Best regards, T.
  10. Hi Fernando, I checked 4 drivers (don't know why they are doubled): Intel® 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (added by Fernando) Intel® 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (added by Fernando) Intel® 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (added by Fernando) Intel® 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (added by Fernando) I would like to redo the driver inclusion with nlite, can you advise if I should select both "Intel® 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller (added by Fernando)" ? Best wishes, T.
  11. Hi, I've booted off the flash drive went through the text mode(it saw the HDD) then GUI and when it was supposed to start Windows I saw the start animation and then the PC rebooted itself. I couldn't install it this way so I tried installing from a cd, with the exact same outcome. Next step, I disabled AHCI and used IDE in BIOS and install XP from the CD which worked. Now I have to dig to find drivers since XP is not supported anymore by ASUS. Thanks, T.
  12. Thank you Fernando for the drivers you've provided. I used nlite to integrate the drivers and created the ISO. I used Novicorp WinToFlash, Flashboot to create a bootable USB and installed XP but when it boots it keeps restarting. AHCI is selected in BIOS. Any ideas ? Regards.
  13. Hi everyone ! I've got an ASUS mobo H81M-A and I want to install XP pro x86 on it. The manufacturer doesn't provide any drivers for XP. My question is: what SATA driver do I need ? Thanks, T.
