FantasyAcquiesce Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 360 Explorer came out with a new version https://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Browsers/360-Browser.shtml I haven't tested it yet to see if it works on Windows XP though.
Dave-H Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I think it's unlikely. My understanding was that versions after 13.x would not be XP compatible, and in fact would be 64 bit only. Be very careful if you do run that installer and it works, I tried one installer (13.6 I think) and it installed a lot of unwanted crap on my machine! 3

VistaLover Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 (edited) For starters, Softpedia isn't the official vendor of 360 products, the Chinese firm Qihoo is... The browser linked in that SP page is, in fact, 360 Secure Browser/Explorer (a "relative" of the more widely familiar here 360 Extreme Explorer), which is mainly targeting mainland China and is bundled with Qihoo's "Security" products... Official download page: https://browser.360.cn/se/ Support forum (in Chinese): https://bbs.360.cn/forum.php?mod=forumdisplay&fid=141 https://bbs.360.cn/thread-15948589-1-1.html Newly released version 13.1.6066.0 is based on Chromium 86 core: i.e. the exact same core 360EEv13/13.5 are built on... Unless Qihoo have backported security fixes for publicly released CVEs from Google, I see no real merit on choosing this over the "sanitised" 360EEv13.x versions offered here in MSFN... For those of you feeling more adventurous, "Russian-Board" Forum thread for 360SE: http://forum.ru-board.com/topic.cgi?forum=2&topic=5854&start=0 "X-Portable" Russified+"cleaned-up" packages are linked there-in (but for older version 13.1.1774.0) ... As cautioned by Dave, NEVER run Chinese installers directly (extract the minimum set of required browser engine files and launch via portable launcher...) ! Edited July 26, 2022 by VistaLover 3
mina7601 Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 (edited) Strange, in June 10, 2021, I accidentally ran the 360 Extreme Explorer installer (I don't know what was the version that has installed at that time) and it somehow did NOT install unwanted Chinese crap, and I also was able to uninstall 360 Extreme Explorer by suddenly clicking on a random button on its uninstall setup dialog, and it successfully uninstalled (despite me not understanding Chinese language). All of this was done on a XP virtual machine (just to be safe), though. How did that not happen to me at that time, I have no idea. Edited July 26, 2022 by mina7601 1

Recently as posted here by @NotHereToPlayGames: Quote Yes, I trust build 2107 more. It's been more stable for my use. Mileage may vary. It's NOT a "downgrade". The build numbers seem to confuse far to many people. Halfway through v13, the original creator went to Chromium v86.4240.198. Some of the earlier v13's stem from Chromium v86.4240.112. Even v13.5 and v13.6 use the same exact v86.4240.198 - YOU GAIN NOTHING. Sorry guys, trying to correct this. Ugh. So this latest build would appear Chromium v86.4240.198 is as updated (and sanitized) as its going to get. Edited July 26, 2022 by XPerceniol 1
AstroSkipper Posted September 28, 2022 Posted September 28, 2022 (edited) Update notification! My favourite registry editor Registry Workshop has been updated and its current version is now 5.1.0. Link: http://www.torchsoft.com/en/rw_information.html It is still supported in Windows XP, but it's commercial. This program is definitely worth its money. You can try it 30 days for free. Here are the download links of the English and German version 5.1.0 (other language versions are also available): English version: http://www.torchsoft.com/download/RegistryWorkshop.exe German version: http://www.torchsoft.com/download/RegistryWorkshop_deu.exe Cheers, AstroSkipper Edited September 28, 2022 by AstroSkipper correction 1

FantasyAcquiesce Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 (edited) OnlyOffice works gloriously on Windows XP and Vista I like it far more than WPS Office with its tabbed word documents. Keep in mind the x64 version requires Visual C++ runtimes! Also, OnlyOffice and WPS Office are a lot heavier compared to OpenOffice. My Duo Core 2 U9600 laptop's fan turns on every time when I run OnlyOffice or WPS! Edited October 30, 2022 by FantasyAcquiesce 1
MilkChan Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 game (Left 4 Dead 2) Who keeps it? December 10, 2021 (2.2.2.2) I tested a long time ago a Windows XP compatible version before they updated with this.

December 10, 2021 (2.2.2.2) I tested a long time ago a Windows XP compatible version before they updated with this. Pretty much all steam versions of valve games no longer work on XP because they updated all the steam apis for steamdesk support.

dmiranda Posted November 7, 2022 Posted November 7, 2022 This may be of interest. John Haller says: I've been working on ensuring that links to legacy versions of our apps at PortableApps.com are available for a bit. After reading through a bit of the XP compatible software topic and the recent What does your XP looks like in 2022? topic, I thought I'd consolidate it a bit more and formalize it. I created a Windows XP/Vista Compatible App Versions, Adding To The App Directory topic over in the PA.c forums to track it. I've added a new entry in our listings to link to legacy builds for our apps setup in a way that they install alongside the current versions (ex: HexChatPortableLegacyWinXP) and won't be affected by the PA.c Platform's updater. If there's a PA.c Format app that's missing or an app where we released it after XP/Vista were dropped and you'd like a build of it, drop a post in our forum topic or here and I'll add it to the list to get it put together for interested folks. If there's enough interest, I may put together a legacy PA.c Suite and/or add it to our app store. https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=25941 4
xrayer Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Hi, please is there some unofficial build of Telegram client newer that 1.8.15? I use this version on XP but recently it stopped working adding new users and cannot chat with them. Existing users still works. I have newer client installed on other PC where I added a new user. On XP PC this new user is seen as "Unsupported user" and I can see chat history that was done in newer telegram but I cannot reply back. With older contacts I can chat normally. So the compatability is broken but not fully and maybe fixed? I don't need full featured Telegram client, all I need is to send and receive text messages, no need for calls, embedded videos and other fancy stuff. Or is there some working plugin for Miranda NG or Pidgin? I know there was some attempts but outdated...
beansmuggler Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 (edited) You'd probably have to attempt building it yourself using the source available, but keep in mind that they monitor users accessing Telegram wit unnoficial clients iirc (though it might not count as unofficial if it's just the source code?). If you have a newer browser that allows desktop notifications, you can use the browser version at https://web.telegram.com to simulate the same experience. For older browsers that only get a white screen when accessing the website, you can try the legacy web version that they link at https://github.com/zhukov/webogram (this is linked to by Telegram despite the strange github url), which may possibly have the same "new user" problem. If you are interested in attempting a build, there is a semi-guide on building C++ apps for XP and earlier here: https://building.enlyze.com/posts/modern-visual-studio-meets-ancient-windows/ Edited November 29, 2022 by beansmuggler 1
