  1. I had to build my own api-ms-win-core-delayload-l1-1-0.dll and api-ms-win-core-delayload-l1-1-1.dll. I also had to make a patch to prevent it from continuously polling a non-existent ALPC port. I may also have to write a bcp47mm.dll to go along with it, because the DLL isn't working for much other than Chromium due to a null function pointer somewhere. The breakage point is between 5547 and 5555 as a result.

  3. Try one simple thing... use Chromium 110 or 111 without modification and without disabling the sandbox. If it doesn't work, that's proof enough that porting this kernel won't make any sense at all, because there are no new features that are in Windows 10. Compare the two kernels in CFF Explorer under the export tab. I am almost sure that the amount of new features will be quite low.

  4. So, on Android, Firefox 79 is required, but on desktop, FF 78 is required - I assume both Firefoxes use the same GUID so you can't set different minimum versions for each.... This one actually sounds like a Mozilla mistake to me. But the more interesting question to me is, why is FF 78/79 suddenly required at all, when 68 was adequate before? What new uBO feature required a 10-version jump just to keep blocking unwanted sites/scripts/CSS? This doesn't seem like a mere matter of not testing older browsers; I think it more likely the latest uBO uses a Googlism. Googlism: (noun) Any JavaScript or CSS feature which was proposed by Google, Inc., and which causes browsers unaware of the feature to render Web sites using it, or to execute add-ons using it, incorrectly. (Note that Googlisms aren't necessarily all bad things; but they do, by this definition, necessarily have one bad effect: breaking older browsers.)

  5. I will not continue with this project, I have outgrown it. Thank you for all your kind comments, advice, etc. My modified versions are removed - they are unsafe due to sandbox bypass, embeded videos do not work.

  6. @msquidpl Hmm, I noticed you removed the information in your main post about "copying several libraries from Windows 8.1 x64 to run build 5535 on Windows 7". Does that mean it's still required to do it? Edit: It's still required, just that the main post has been edited to a different text for running build 5535 on Windows 7.

  7. I am trying to backport DWrite from Windows 10 to Vista. It will probably succeed after copying certain DLL libraries from 7 or 8.1 and resolve some dependences. This will probably allow Chromium version 111 to run up to build 5535 (then Opera 97 Dev should also work fully, but I'm not sure about that)

  8. @yoltboy01 This thread should be retitled “Future of Chromium on Windows 7.” (The future of Chrome on “vanilla” Windows 7 is simply version 109.)

  9. My partner and I just built an Alder Lake system. I installed Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP2 with the Extended Kernel and it works great! There is absolutely no drift-like behavior as seen on Haswell (4th gen) thru Tiger Lake (11th gen). Here's a screenshot: Just like Windows 7, the processor cores do not show up in Device Manager, however it is recognized in System Properties. Ethernet drivers are also currently unavailable, however since I am friends with win32 and speak to him on a regular basis, I asked him if he could possibly get the ethernet drivers working. He said he would have to add functions to NDIS & ntoskrnl, but he could do it at a later time. Right now, I use USB wifi which works fine but I could just install a Vista-compatible PCI ethernet card if I wanted to. Specs: Asrock Z690 PG Riptide Motherboard Intel Core i7 12700KF 32 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 980ti GPU w/modded 398.11 drivers by win32 Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SSD Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 I may try UEFI at a later date with UEFIseven, but for the time being I am using Legacy boot with no problems. Windows Vista/7 also do not properly turbo the P & E Cores, however enabling High Performance in the BIOS simply makes the cores turbo up constantly so it runs great with no performance issues. I dualboot with Windows Server 2012, which does turbo the cores properly (and has drivers for everything, including ethernet).

  10. For the regular release yes it would break but 78esr isn't a problem. I actually have kept a portable 78esr version on hand because it's the last one that allows me to easily import search engines using an old script.

  11. Needless to say, its been rough going and I've been incapacitated for much of the day and only ate because they make me and I cam here looking for comfort because I consider you my family, but, I will say, I'm glad my dearly departed father instilled within me to just be myself and no conform that what this TOXIC society expects of me. I can't even think or write so the computers will be off and I'll rely on my DVDs to get through this.

  13. Windows 7 Pro 64bit forever!!! I just joined this forum & am watching this thread with great interest, especially @msquidpl's posts. A browser is my one concern because browsers are major entry points for malware. However, I surf the internet while in Shadow Defender's "Shadow More" -- it's like a virtual computer -- so a permanent infection is extremely unlikely. Even so, an updated browser for Win7 would be delightful. My Plan B is Zorin Linux Pro -- it's very similar to Win7 & I am getting fairly proficient with it. Aloha to all from Hawaii... bellgamin

  16. Guys, my try to port it failed (in theory, resolved dependiences, but browser still not worked). But on @win32 modified DWrite.dll from W10 1809 and these api-ms files, build 5535 of Chromium and Opera 97 Dev based on 5532 works fine. Thank you so much! I will try newer builds

  18. Okay, then tell me, what tools will you use, in what software will you compile kernel32, etc.? Extended kernel is not and will never be about just pasting a few files from another system. On its own, it is downright unfeasible. Sorry, I know you are ambitious, but I want to make you aware that it is not as simple as you think. The kernel is not an interchangeable part of the OS, virtually everything depends on it. Different system, different appeals. You'd probably have to spatch 90% of the files in C:Windows for it to work, and it still wouldn't be a sure thing.

  24. Great work! Was this implemented through a change to Chromium source code? If so, it would be extremely worthwhile for you to join efforts to port v110+ to Win7/8.1 with the esteemed Alexander Frick. He is developing a highly optimized fork of Chromium (details here) and he also intends to port 110+ updates to Win7+. I hope you can combine your efforts 💖

  37. Yes I saw your post at @roytam1's browser thread. As long as MailNews works well with all your email services, there's no reason to try to troubleshoot what might have gone wrong with IceDove, eM Client, or what have you! Stick with what works. MailNews also supports several useful add-ons, although editing install.rdf may be necessary to install them. A lot of email services have gone to OAuth2, but most at least offer the alternative of app passwords. I just happened to get put on the one service - M$ 365 - that decided against app passwords, so the browser interface - slow and cumbersome as it may be - is the only choice I have left on XP (aside from OE Classic and its numerous issues).

  39. This one is definitely faster. Pulled more keys also (11 in total, but 5 were identical but stored in diffent places, 2 more were identical in different places, another 2 were identical in different places), but I cancelled License Crawler after a couple of minutes (at which point it had only found the one key). This one also revealed which was the BIOS key. I suspect License Crawler would have found them all also, if I were patient enough to wait for the whole scan.
