I am still working on editing the list and keeping it up to date. While Windows Vista Extended Kernel has made the list somewhat obsolete, not everyone wants to or can use the extended kernel (namely x86 users). I just haven’t been able to keep up with it lately due to things happening in my personal life, but I’m going to try to resume working on it soon. Unless you have contributions of your own, you can keep your disrespectful comments to yourself I’ve poured a lot of blood, sweat & tears into this list since 2016, and I think it’s one of the best resources for Windows Vista users today. To anyone who wants to know if an application is already listed, press Ctrl+F in your browser and search for the application name.

With the Vista extended kernel, I have managed to get up to 111.0.5520 working with sandbox, and up to about 111.0.5550 without sandbox. However there is some problem with shared memory brokering that has broken it in both cases. Couldn't map an API change to it yet, as this code is well abstracted from the win32 API.

Though as I say that out loud, I do see that post number one was last edited on October 9, 2022.

This build is targeted to be more RAM-friendly than earlier builds. The chrome.dll file now has a default base address of 0x3e1c0000 and this seems to work well for both x86 XP and for x64 XP. Limited to no tests whatsoever were performed outside of XP. "This device working properly" only means that the device driver is loaded and doing whatever it is supposed to be doing. The disk had trouble reading data in the past and it's possible that some files have been altered since.

It will never be able to update on it's own anymore because of "SHA-2" I always quit defender and also disable the windows defender service from services.msc (type that in a Run box or just search it using the start menu). It's useless anyway

Congrats, very nice work dude! I think v111 - up to 5520 was working on 8.1 with the —no-sandbox hack as well. You think we could port pack newer builds or even v112 to 7/8.1 ? It has that weird DiscardVirtualMemory dependence that is missing on older versions

Actually I did walk today because I'm so weak in the legs from too much inactivity and sedentary lifestyle. My doctor this summer I am ordered to walk to the dollar store and back home. I used to love it and meditate while walking just breathe in the white light and hold for 4 seconds listen to the atmosphere and breathe out the black darkness and exhale all the way for only a few times and I do it whilst in motion. I look up at the sky and just *feel*.

Why use Win8/10/11? I cannot understand this. Capitalism is their goal. On every new M$ OS, more backward compatibilty is missing. They implement newer DirextX for every new OS, so that gamers need to switch their OS to newer ones if they want to play modern games. High OS -> more CPU power is needed, thats an insane policy against sustainably living, hundreds of (modern) "old" computers got thrown into city trash area every day. Programmers could do everything, but they don't want to, money interests are far more important than humanity. The same thing exist in the game developer industry. Userfriendly programmers would never remove compatibility. Hope to see a XP revival (driver support for all new GPUs, DX12 support, possibilty to install modern browser) or a massive switch-over-to-linux. It is time to stop the insanity, it's already urgent since 20 years...

My grandfather haunted me for decades (and still does). We had a strong connection, so after he passed away, I could still see him (from time to time) in his room. In the evenings mostly, just sits on his couch and does nothing. Then I burned almost all of his things except some - his dagger, and the motorcycle etc., so I could channel the energy to summon him, Why ? I decided not to fight it 'cause he meant no harm and I accepted to just live with it . I don't mourn him. Never did. I loved him , yes, but didn't mourn. I sometimes need his advice and he visits at night, after I channel the energy . With years he became less apparent. And I need more an more energy to summon him again. Creepy, I know.

Hi Sal, how do you do ! XP chkdsk is a total joke ! The only thing that really remaps the sectors is a FULL (not quick!) reformat . It will delete all of the data on the disk.

Hmmm ... overall things seem to be pretty good here as far as I can see. Hi, I've found a method to create a proxy server which will restore WU & MU websites as well as AU on every system (including the website for Vista and 7) (but for some reasons AU won't work on XP RTM, SP1 and SP2 if MU is enabled). You have to use ProxHTTPSProxy v1.3a and another proxy to edit web requests (I used Requestly). You have to configure ProxHTTPSProxy (in config.ini) to use the other proxy (add a section [PROXY http://127.0.0.1:port]) for www.update.microsoft.com, fe2.update.microsoft.com and web.archive.org SSL should also be bypassed for web.archive.org In the other proxy you have to create the following redirects: https://www.update.microsoft.com/v6/ClientWebService/client.asmx -> https://fe2.update.microsoft.com/v6/ClientWebService/client.asmx https://www.update.microsoft.com/v6/UpdateRegulationService/updateregulation.asmx -> https://fe2.update.microsoft.com/v6/UpdateRegulationService/updateregulation.asmx https://fe2.update.microsoft.com/v11/3/legacy/windowsupdate/selfupdate/wuident.cab -> https://web.archive.org/web/20070110011725/update.microsoft.com/v6/windowsupdate/selfupdate/wuident.cab (this only for GET requests) Then modify response headers for any address containing /wuident.cab: ADD Content-Length: "7427" ADD Last-Modified: "Fri, 20 Oct 2006 02:00:03 GMT" On the clients install Windows Update Agent 7.4.7600.226 (not the latest version, not needed on Windows 7), add ProxHTTPSProxy's IP address into Proxy settings and import its CA (Trusted Root\Local Computer). Reminder that Chrome Web Store is intentionally broken in the "ungoogled" version. The best route I have found to return a degree of functionality to Chrome Web Store but to do it without the telemetry/tracker/persistent-cookie is to manually install this extension -- https://www.crx4chrome.com/crx/265228/ Scroll down to the Download Now section and click the Crx4Chrome download link (the other links should work as well, I have only ever used the Crx4Chrome link). Note that the download will download without any "where to save" dialog, it will download to your default directory as set in chrome://settings/downloadSetting. To manually install, drag-and-drop this .crx file onto "empty whtie space" on your chrome://extensions/ page. You should get a dialog asking to confirm installation - click the Add button (then close the self-advert nuisance tab). Now whenever you visit a Chrome Web Store addon page, you can download the .crx directly and manually install as opposed to installing via the Chrome Web Store.
