  2. Most of my precious time has been devoted to the Chromium issue, which is continuously unfolding as they gradually remove legacy codepaths. The job object server is nearly functional (right now it isn't, but Chromium seems to be OK with it, in --no-sandbox at least). Then I need to add some things to NtQueryInformationProcess and that should get Chromium 111 100% functional. Some more functions will need to be added for Chromium 112.

  3. C'mon, guys, get a grip! If you bothered to read my entire post, you should've known I was speaking tongue-in-cheek: @NotHereToPlayGames, you in particular should be ashamed! The whole point of the post was that MCP's so-called "ancient" browser was enhanced so that NextCloud did work - and then a few weeks later, it stopped working again! No, I don't think NextCloud deliberately broke Pale Moon. But the coincidence was so striking, I think one could be excused for being a little suspicious in this case. Not "each and every time a web site is discovered not to work on our 'ancient' browsers" as you wrote. Next time, try to read what I actually wrote, and give me the benefit of the doubt. OK?

  4. The first website has a big problem to be displayed here... I didn't manage to display it completely, but from what I could understand from some of the sentences displayed, they seem to be pro-abortion, poor guys... I am against killing babies, period, so this site is right not to be displayed as it should be, probably out of shame they hide... maybe the communist site is trying to scare the readers... so I couldn't see your article at all! The second site displays correctly, but here they say it's "cruel" - "to deny women full control over their bodies" as MAGA's would like... so cruel not to kill the babies??? The world is turning upside down... Maybe it's time for people to turn away from this fear propaganda... to wake up... I'm really well inoculated against the propaganda, really... 6. Agreed. I suspect it has to do more with "ad revenue". (ps, the narcissism reply was NOT directed at you specifically or I would have quoted you directly... just saying MSFN likes to "always" think developers are "out to get them"... moving on...) I'm not quite sure how the "ad revenue" works. But the web sites that you have written (it's been several years since I have), I suspect they don't use third-party "resources"? I've often wondered why my BANKING web site (if I allowed it to!) pings FACEBOOK. Then there's the obvious googleanalytics ping (again, if I allowed it to). Then there's the countless dozen of "cdn" web sites that are also attempted connections (that my banking web sites work even without). Another common one of late is "techlab-cdn".

  8. AGREED! It's actually quite narcissistic of the MSFN Community to "always conclude" that each and every time a web site is discovered to not work on our ANCIENT browsers that "developers" are out to get us. I assure you that they have much more important things to do than maintain compatibility for ANCIENT browsers.

  12. Some thing I have been work on in my very little free time. You know "Browservice" project right? He made a software that pushes endless stream of JPEG images to the browser that contain a website rendered by Chromium engine. Complete with fake address bar and front end JavaScript to capture keyboard and mouse. The idea sounds so ridiculous, so crazy, but it actually works on almost every OS and almost every old browser. Problem of "Browservice" is it doesn't feel convincing. IE constantly downloading images and status bar goes crazy (it appears that the memory leak exists). Also very slow when website has a animating. I did something similar but using RDP. Only for IE5 and IE6. Should work Win98/ME/2000/XP<SP3. I develop in XPSP2 IE6 and WinME IE 5.5 for now. Since it's ActiveX control, I am inside of IEXPLORE.EXE and have full control (that's how drive-by downloads installed spyware and virus back in the days). I use the power to intercept the menu, toolbar, address bar, status bar, etc. IE becomes only a bit of GUI under my control. All commands are redirected to remote server running Chromium engine there. RDP has the feature "Virtual Channel" to send messages (WTSVirtualChannelOpen etc.) My implementation so far browsing experience feels 99% like using real Internet Explorer because RDP protocol is much faster and get clipboard support, access to local hard drive, sound, video streaming, etc. for free by Microsoft. Unfortunately still very early in development. Downloads not yet work. History not yet work. Popup window not yet work (very difficult). But I hope that in a few months from now good old Win9x and Win2000 can join a modern Internet again. Backend in C#. Frontend in Visual Basic 6 with OLEEXP and patched SSUBTMR (just to prove it can be done, but it is painful). Maybe you will say that's the fake screenshot. Okay, you can do it. I don't have the argument at the moment. But soon I hope to show it running on real hardware.

  13. The Windows 7 install on my T430 corrupted itself and deleted many files out of System32 for seemingly no reason, luckily I had a copy of XP on the laptop and used it for a bit as I was away from home and had no ISOs or sticks with me. I am working on a MC server so I decided I wanted to play MC. I remember 1.12.2 with a resource pack ran somewhat ok under 7 so I figured 1.16,5 with Sodium and whatever would work fine, but it would just freeze the entire laptop requiring me to either reboot or get the end task prompt ready and press enter while it was frozen. I found that if I deleted my settings it would open, but when I joined the server, I got 3-4 FPS on the lowest settings with no shaders and no resource packs. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a experience like this and if they know a fix or a workaround. I'm using the newest drivers I could find for the HD 4000.

  17. Payday Loan Center Sets Up Shop In Egg Aisle U.S.·Jan 30, 2023 · BabylonBee.com BRANSON, MO — The cost of groceries has continued to rise, despite the Biden Administration's concerted effort to reduce inflation by printing money. In fact, prices have now increased to the point that a Payday Loan Center was seen setting up shop in the egg aisle of a local grocery store. The store graciously made room for the new enterprise by throwing out all of the Beyond Meat™. "Shout out to Joe Biden for providing much-needed employment for loan sharks like me," said Payday Loan Center franchisee, Dirk Greedsniffle, while lighting a Cuban cigar and flicking grocery dust off his bright blue pinstripe suit. "By wringing every penny out of vulnerable families, I'll be able to afford eggs myself!" A young mother then approached the shiny, oak desk of Greedsniffle and took out a short-term loan with a reasonable 75% interest rate, compounded daily, then carefully placed a single egg in her shopping cart and, ever-so-gently proceeded to checkout. At publishing time Republican lawmakers had proposed a bill aimed at helping working-class families who suffer from rampant inflation by providing Payday Loan Centers in every home. 25. Believe it or not, I sort of agree. Certainly with the "slow" part. It's especially ironic given that Pale Moon started out as simply Firefox optimized for performance on Windows. I may not like that Mozilla mostly started over with Quantum, but I have to admit that MCP is pushing FF 52's Javascript engine to the limit to get it to handle all the latest "Googlisms." It's surprising that it works as well as it does. From the Web developer's standpoint though, I've written a fair number of very simple Web pages, and I absolutely cannot understand why any Web developer would rely as heavily on JavaScript as most do for tasks the Web server itself would be much more suited to do. It's almost (have to emphasize those disclaimers now, apparently) as if they were trying to make their Web pages as slow and inefficient as possible!

  27. It's probably out of their radar sight rather than breaking Pale Moon deliberately. I suspect most devs in general, if they were to look into the browser, would dismiss it as being slow and archaic. I just figured out I can actually check the version through my user on the instance running at workplace, apparently it's updated to the latest 25.0.3. Source code is here: https://github.com/nextcloud/server I found there are 4 files, each containing 2 incompatible class definitions (can't find them on the above link though), running the snippets through Babel and adding Palefill rules to do some search and replace fixes the errors and can now refresh the page without crashing, but I couldn't figure out the CSS magic required to make scrolling work when there are too many files to show at once.

  28. And, knowing his posts, he wants to stay on Vista with ExKernel than getting a PC with newer Windows to run newer apps. @WinCare We know you want more Windows 10 and later apps to run on Vista, but you must understand a few things. Making an Extended Kernel for an OS isn't as easy as you think. it actually involves requiring much knowledge and experience with IDA Pro, see here as an example. (although it's about NT 4, but it still stands generally). You should be grateful and thank God that someone knowledgeable like @win32 decided to take his time to work on an ExKernel for Vista (even if Vista was badly hated!), and that you are able to run apps with ExKernel that you otherwise, couldn't run on vanilla Vista. All of this wouldn't have been possible without @win32's effort. And maybe, if you mentioned a few examples of the Windows 10 apps that you want to install on Vista, you could maybe get information regarding them, like if it's possible to run them on Vista or not, and reasons why they can't run, etc. That's the purpose of this topic, hence the [WIP] at the topic title (which stands for Work In Progress). But, keep in mind that not all apps run perfectly on Vista with ExKernel. Some apps can run, but with visual bugs or graphical glitches (and require workarounds to run almost perfectly), some apps crash upon running, or doing specific actions inside the apps, Hope this helps. I hope I cleared out everything you need to know. Best regards.

  33. ... You're probably mixing it up with WaterFox Classic , which is indeed based on Fx56 ... SM 2.53.x branch is forked from a Firefox ESR 60.x code snapshot, specifically SM versions > 2.53.4 are based on FxESR 60.8 ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SeaMonkey Feodor (a one-person "act") has managed to port FxESR 68 to WinXP/WinVista via his MyPal 68 project, though that involved using a custom, XP-compatible, version of the Rust coding language ... If the SM project are to take a similar route, then backporting SM 2.53.x (FxESR 60.x-based) to WinXP/Vista doesn't "sound" unfeasible... But I seriously doubt they'll be interested ...

Anyone who is still wondering why certain websites no longer work in this version can honestly no longer be helped. Sorry to say that! But, that's the truth, unfortunately! We all know, there are other browsers like for example New Moon 28 which can be used in combination with palefill to get access to GitHub. And, these browsers are updated and fixed on a regular basis.
