Your operating system (Windows 7 x86) is not supported on UEFI 2.3.1 hardware even in Legacy Mode. It does not work properly on that hardware. The most common issue is unable to boot where the first active partition DOES contain boot files but DOES NOT contain the OS. Are you certain that your HP actually does have a UEFI BIOS? I would find it strange that HP would sell a PC that isn't supported by Microsoft.

I definitely have run a computer blind before but it has been a long time. The key is to visualize the computer screen even if you can't see it. It is also a required skill for anyone who does telephone technical support. At least then, sometimes, you can be assisted by the customer. Sometimes that doesn't help.

Where do I get the latest AMD chipset drivers?
Tripredacus replied to bizzybody's topic in Hardware Hangout
Those types of driver packages are usually available from the ODMs only. So to find a newer version you might have to look at your board manufacturer's competitors' websites comparable products. -
It does seem silly. There are a couple of MS sites I have visit that do not work with IE10. The worst offender is one where there is supposed to be a menu on the left side but it doesn't show up.

This is a feature known as NIC Teaming. I use it for Link Aggregation. It also requires specialized hardware to be used properly. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831648.aspx That isn't going to help the OP at all. The error itself is refering to the "network name" which probably is related to NetBIOS and/or the Master Browser on the network. I would recommend doing transfers using IP addresses and not friendly names to see if the problem still occurs.

I removed the link because it was to a zip file. The company that makes it seems to be this one: http://mofang.ithome.com/

64 and 32 bit in same package?
Tripredacus replied to koden's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
It is possible. I'm not sure how RT7Lite fits in tho. The manual way would be to capture your first image, then append the second image. The order doesn't matter. Say then x86 is Index 1 and x64 is Index 2. You save this as install.wim. The requirement then is that your boot image must be the x86 one. That way you can choose either of the images to deploy with Setup. -
Better searches with Boolean algebra searching
Tripredacus replied to Flasche's topic in General Discussion
I should point out that only part of what you have in that spoiler is Boolean related. Google dorks are more like cheats and not really part of logic operation IMO. -
Can the recovery partion in vista be used without F8
Tripredacus replied to immisfit's topic in Windows Vista
When using F8 on a stock recovery partition, you choose "Repair My Computer" or something similar. After WinPE loads you will get a prompt for a user account to log into the OS. It is a restriction so that only authorized users can run recovery. I would try running recovery from Control Panel, under Backup and Restore. Initiating recovery from there (if it is an option) will automatically log into the recovery partition after the reboot. -
Asteroid Passing Earth Will Be Closer Than Moon

That's a surprise, it is not in JPL's database. I check RSOE EDIS every day and it uses data from JPL, not that site that Fox apparently checks. -

No need. You can see that it has integrated Twitter and Facebook functionality from their screenshots: http://www.desktopnerds.com/product-gammacontrol?id=screenshots -

64K seems like such a small upgrade considering the amount of memory on the base system already. -
2014 new ICANN regulation can nuke a site

To be honest, website admins have had to validate all registration information with ICANN for many years now. -
Possible to strip Metro from Windows 8/8.1
Tripredacus replied to epic's topic in Unattended Windows 8/Server 2012
Does "Metro" show up in /GET-FEATURES results? With Windows 8.1 you can make the OS boot to the desktop. -
They are user account SIDs. You can find them in HKEY_USERS. http://www.sekchek.com/downloads/white-papers/windows-about-sids.pdf http://support.microsoft.com/kb/243330 Regarding the programs looking for the Start Menu, I am wondering if these programs were written for this OS or for x64. Also for Chrome download location issue, I've known others who have had this problem but I haven't had it happen to me.

Are you logged in with a local account or a Live account?
-
I have not encountered the Start Menu problem. Is the Start Menu folder that is blocked the one in your profile or the one for Public?
-
I use both because I have to for support reasons. Not everyone will install the update.

The link you provided is not relavent to this issue, that link is a specific college directory access. Besides, I've never had to change security perms for /etc, its always been system. Sure it does. The owner of the etc folder (by your example) is TrustedInstaller. Did you try to take ownership of that folder (and child objects) and see if your problem is resolved?

How to figure out what device that is?
Tripredacus replied to aofarrell2's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Are you actually going to use the MEI's features? I don't and I never install its driver on my personal systems. -
If this is only for theatrical movies, you also need to add The Clone Wars.

Alternative methods to change OS boot on Dual Boot.
Tripredacus replied to Dogway's topic in Windows 7
Just for the record (and FYI) on "particular" setups (like "Kiosk" or similar) a keyboard terminator has been widely (and traditionally) in use to avoid the "Missing Keyboard, press F1 to resume" error or some of the similar ones: http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=22422 jaclaz : Interesting. I wish I had known about that BSOD issue earlier. I remember some years ago having to help someone troubleshoot why their Server 2003 would BSOD at boot when hooked up to a KVM but not when a keyboard and monitor were directly connected.
