I would first make sure to uninstall any Atheros drivers and software. If you are trying to install using a Setup application, try instead to point Device Manager to the location of the driver files. See if letting Windows manage the wireless does any better. I personally never install any application for wireless, just the driver.

Yes the controls do seem reversed. I got used to WASD for first person games, but in this one I found myself keep trying to move with the arrow keys. Thus, I was not able to escape XP. I wonder if this game actually has an "end" to it or if you can't actually escape XP and IE6.

When I tried to play it in Firefox, I got a blue screen that said I needed to use a more modern browser like IE11. When I played it with IE10, I saw the intro "blue screen" and it was different. I didn't like the controls much.

The wasProcessed attribute is added by Sysprep. This XML is not intended to be validated in WSIM. It looks like the way to get WSIM to show you what settings are invalid for IE11 would be to capture an image without an answer file... or maybe a dummy one with just language settings in it. Then you load that WIM into WSIM. Take your existing answer file and load that into WSIM and then validate it. It should then inform you what settings you have wrong. I remember reading about this. It might have been a good idea at first, but the people who own the building had better keep up the maintenance. It will just look horrible in a few years once they get dirty and the pain starts wearing off.

It appears there is a limitation regarding signed drivers where DISM won't be able to interpret the certificate depending on what OS you are running it on. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825070.aspx It isn't 100% true, as I've been adding drivers (boot-critical or otherwise) to Windows 8, 8.1, 2012/R2 images from Server 2008 R2 with the Windows 8.1 ADK installed. There hasn't been a problem until just now. I have found a driver from LSI that will not inject with DISM into a WinPE 4 image, but it DOES work if I do it from Server 2012. The error on Server 2008 R2 is: I have verified the signature with SignTool, and even the server itself (via Explorer) shows the certificate is OK. Is there an update available for Server 2008 R2 that will allow for the correct identication of certificates on driver injections? Using /forceunsigned is not an option.

Well no. It is not available yet. Whatever it was I downloaded last week (titled Windows 8.1 Update) was not, in fact, Windows 8.1 Update 1.

I downloaded an ISO (or set of disc images) that usually come in either .IMG or .ISO format. Instead, these are in a dual layer format. Folder structure consists of a Layer0 and Layer1 folder, and each contain DAT and XML files. I usually use Imgburn and it doesn't see any of the files as supported types. How do I go about burning this to DVD?

It is important to clarify if this is a notebook with multiple video adapters, or if it is a desktop. The reason for this is because the Intel onboard video used in notebooks has the same HwIDs as the desktop one. This means you CAN install the desktop version on a mobile and it will work BUT the switchable/hybrid graphics WON'T work.

I was wondering the same thing. For me, it isn't a deal breaker. What is, however, is the fact the entire Start Menu was removed. So my entire life of using an OS would have suddenly been interrupted by trying to go to the wrong place to launch my programs. I, fortunately, did not update to Windows 8... however those who have I've heard multiple times people being angry of accidently opening IE.
