  1. There seems to be a few Adventure Time games, which one are you referring to? http://vgcollect.com/search/adventure+time I don't like the show. Something about it, not quite sure. It isn't so much that I'm not a kid (well maybe it is) as I do enjoy watching The Amazing World of Gumball or even Regular Show.
  2. The idea of having robots fighting for you in wars always was some dream, and we can see it in movies if we want. I think the problem is that real life technology does not work quite as well as it does in movies. I figure they would have already done all the research into what to do if something stops working, maybe it gets lost, falls over and can't get back up, gets hit by a truck or some other non-combat related mishap. I will still remember those times NASA put in all that work to make a rover to send to Mars and it just blew up on the way over there. Felt bad for those guys and felt good when they finally got one over there.
  3. It specifically mentions getting some specific type of security clearance. Knowing nothing about security clearances (there must be at least 2 right? One for weapons of war and probably a higher one where you can talk to the aliens) it is likely because those types of clearances require you to be a US citizen. I wouldn't think it would be particularly necessary to point that out, but I suspect that this company has had problems in the past of foreign nationals applying for their positions. Just stick that one line in there and maybe cut down on the unqualified applicants? Not that I ever paid close attention to that kind of thing, as I have (had) a history of just applying for a job anyways... Anyways, I would imagine that there would be some program (not software) or certification requirements for some critical aspect of that job and getting that type of clearance handles that. It is probably similar to how computer companies need to maintain a specific level of Microsoft or Cisco certified employees, NDAs and contracts and all that stuff. Its like saying I am a Microsoft Partner, so I have a Microsoft Security Clearance that gives me access to normally restricted information, tools or training.
  4. The first thing I look at when the site is slow is the number of visitors. The site is nice and fast now and we have around 2,500 total users on. Also the site seems never to be slow in the morning when I get here, but in the evening (prime time) it seems a bit slower.
  5. This was supposed to be humorous, but I feel maybe for some people it isn't.
  6. Yeah I ran into this problem as well. I had a "fix" for Windows 8 but it stopped working with Windows 8.1. In addition, if you write a script that generates a messagebox, it will break the Start Screen too. However, in 8.1 you can configure it to boot to the desktop rather than the Start Screen. Here is some talk about it: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mis_laboratory/archive/2013/08/09/windows-8-1-boot-to-desktop-maybe-the-designers-were-right.aspx I have been told there is a way to do it programmatically, but I didn't do any research on that yet.
  7. Well let's put it this way. If your hardware is not compatible, the software won't install.
  8. Does ProcMon work on that OS? In my experience, you can use ProcMon to determine the search order for files that a particular program is looking for. It may not work for shell32.dll, since the dependent file may try looking at an absolute path. But if you are lucky it will look somewhere else first. The typical first location for a dependent file is in the same folder that the EXE is in. You can try putting the win2k file in there instead.
  9. If your notebook has an Intel controller, install the IRST and see if resuming from hibernation is any better. From https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3409&DwnldID=22036&keyword=irst&DownloadType=Drivers〈=eng The third option (iata_enu.exe) will install the software. It will only work if your SATA type in the BIOS is set to AHCI or RAID.
  10. Welcome to the MSFN!
  11. I'm not getting notification of PMs.
  12. The MDAC package is only really for MMSQL connections. There is a custom MSJet package floating around online but I never tried it. http://oss.netfarm.it/winpe/plugins.php
  13. DiskConfiguration is only applicable to the windowsPE pass. Do not use it in any other pass.
  14. Topic closed by request. New topic here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/170850-aero-glass-for-win81-10/
  15. I will try it again in a bit. The error is only there for 2-3 seconds because Windows ends up rebooting even if you don't click OK.
  16. I created it while the error box was on the screen. Its likely Explorer.exe was no longer open. If I have to redo it, you think I should generate the dump after chosing restart but before the error appears? That could be quite difficult...
  17. I'm surprised that topic is still there. Do they ever delete anything? I even bet this topic will be around for awhile: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/cf53c7b6-feef-425e-a61d-b89413bf939c/testing?forum=w8itproinstall
  18. I don't know about printers... I never try to use WinPE as an OS replacement... But for drivers in general, presuming the drivers support it, you can install an INF using Drvload.exe. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766390%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
  19. Well with MDT you do have the ability to build an image that deploys via DVD. I haven't done that myself but I have received them from clients so I know it is possible. Your theory is sound, it is what I use but with WDS instead of a third party solution.
  20. My copy of the debugger can't open the DMP file. I'm presuming it is because I need to update it. Hopefully it isn't corrupt. Note: the PC I generated it on only has 2GB RAM, to explain its size. https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=DF9CED75545B2B97%21216
  21. Have you verified that the DNS Server actually has more than one entry for it in its records?
  22. Well with MDT (or even WDS) you create a Distribution Share where images end up going. Those programs will set it up for you but you can share a folder to the network manually too. You don't even need to put them on a network, you could store them on a USB drive or an external HDD if you wanted.
  23. Sure you don't need a "server" at all. But you would need a file share where an image is located. Then you boot off a CD or USB to a WinPE boot image, custom or stock and use an answer file. I presume this is what you mean, otherwise you can just make a custom DVD and not use a network at all. EDIT: I'm removing that useless tag.
  24. Believe it or not, this is actually an OLD technique. Before such repositories as SFS or security company lists, even ISPs used some archaic methods that I would have hoped would no longer be used. Think back to the turn of the century. Email spam was the thing back then and an ISP would subscribe to some service that would provide information on how to block them so that their users would not get spam. But there was usually another mechanism. When enough spam/junk complaints would come in for a certain email host for a period of time (say 24 hours) the ISP would block that email host, then contact it to inform them they have a spammer there. The problem would be then that the ISP would tell the host that it would keep blocking them until they cleaned up their servers. If this happened, they would do a trial run and if the spam was under some number or percentage, the block would be lifted. Well in 2002 or so, the ISP I worked for blocked AOL.com. At that time, AOL was still one of the top email providers so you can imagine the uproar this caused.
  25. If the BlackPhone works with a cellular network, then it isn't any more secure than any other phone. Did they forget this? http://www.osnews.com/story/27416/The_second_operating_system_hiding_in_every_mobile_phone
