  1. Probably not. USB3 drivers were *very* few for even XP, depending on the Chipset. What's the VEN/DEV value(s) say in Device Manager?
  2. Let's clear up some confusion. This is the Specs for your VAIO Laptop. http://download.sony-europe.com/pub/manuals/Notebooks/FX/FX800/FX800_T_UK.pdfSony (VAIO) PCG-9G3M Mobile AMD Athlon™ XP 1500+ *not 1.2ghz - 1.3 "real" mounted in this "socket" - - http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K7/AMD-Mobile%20Athlon%20XP-M%201500%2B%20-%20AXMS1500GXS3C.html *Note - the above *may* be a different variation, but still should hold up as far as specs 30GB HDD (*not* 32GB) 128MB RAM Mats-hita UJDA 730 DVD/CDRW Combo (i.e. Sony/Panasonic) Type-III PCMCIA (CardBus) Slot Floppy Drive *All the other stuff listed **Originally loaded with Windows XP Home 1 - Boot from Floppy as previously told (WITH CD-Rom Drivers, because *should* work!) 2 - "FDISK" Delete/Reboot/Create "Max Partition Size"/Reboot 3 - "FORMAT C:" - DO NOT USE "/S" (this will copy Win98 SYS files to the C-Drive, let's be consistent) 4 - "MD C:\WIN95" 5 - "DIR D:\WIN95\*.*" (*should* be the DVD-Drive and *should* list the Install Folder) * - At this point, if it does *not* list the DVD Contents, we have a problem... 6 - "COPY x:\WIN95\*.* C:\WIN95" (x=CD Drive Letter, *better* be "D") 7 - "CD C:\WIN95" 8 - "C:" 9 - "SETUP.EXE" (NOW procede to follow LC's FIXCPU Install Instructions) I see absolutely no reason for any problems *except* any other Peripheral Hardware (i.e. the PCMCIA) Driver problems. DO NOT try using any other CD-ROM drivers until we get past the Install as the Provided Win95B sould suffice. The *only* thing I could imagine goung "wrong" is the fact that your 95B CD is made from a non-VAIO and *may* contain "extraneous" Files *not* part of a Basic Win95 Install Set (IOW, OEM's would "override" some Install stuff with OEM-Specific modules). What I'm saying is if that's an (e.g.) Gateway CD, it *may* have Gateway-Specific Files in the Win95 Folder that (hopefully) won't be detected and used/installed. HTH and do tell us how *this* procedure goes.
  3. JFYI (re RAM) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/118097-day-to-day-running-win-9xme-with-more-than-1-gib-ram/
  4. "It is related to a specific condition on Windows 2003 Server..." And also Server 2008/R2, which is (after all) Vista/Win7 "Server Edition".
  5. Guess nobody has noticed the abandonment of the RT7Lite project. It always was broken. Why on God's green Earth doesn't anyone even *try* using https://www.ntlite.com/features is beyond me.
  6. Read this thread. http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=74697 HTH
  7. Install from the latest ISO without entering the key (skip it, it will use the trial one), then use "slmgr.vbs -ipk" (append the original key), then Activate it. I doubt you'll get much hassle from MS during Activation, but if you do just call and explain. BTW, be sure you have the latest *Ultimate* iso. Get all the updates via Windows Update Downloader en-mass and use a script to install them (the script is floating arounde here). HTH edit - Slipstream all (slip-able) WUD files into the INSTALL.WIM. See this post: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173769-whats-on-with-vista-vlite/#entry1098207
  8. It's detecting the Win2K3, of which support *is* ending real soon. HTH
  9. Firefox uses a PlugIn. IE uses an ActiveX. Go to Adobe Flash Download, get the latest, and install it. Flash is now (AFAICR) a "combo" installer that includes both. https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ BTW, since you have FF as "default" yep, you *will* open links in it instead of IE. When you pick one as Default, you can't use either/or *unless" you flip/flop the "default" as necessary. *Or*, right-click the link, get the address, then past it in the IE (or FF) Address Bar and GO! HTH
  10. Yes (true), you can't "move" the HDD to another "good" PC. Once there, you're stuck there. I used it to remove the DDO (xovly) for "new use".
  11. Meh... you explained additional stuff so...
  12. "%date% is a system variable. Why are you trying to "change" it"? Use a different variable e.g. "Set DATEX=<and the remainder>" and use the DATEX in the other lines.
  13. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173769-whats-on-with-vista-vlite/#entry1098025 "You're in good hands with OurState" ~ (some nut not on TV)
  14. But FWIW it's still on Archive if you really want/need the final version: http://web.archive.org/web/20130302043630/http://vlite.net/ http://web.archive.org/web/20130127201535/http://www.vlite.net/download.html
  15. Agreed. And FWIW, OnTrack (supplied by Seagate) to create a DDO (etc) is here: http://cmech.dynip.com/filebase.bbs/SEAGATE/ Scroll down to "dm956a" and I *hope* that's the same one I have. It appears to be and *will* require a good floppy/floppydrin/OS to create the disk. Side note: can't check b/c my Floppies and/or drive is acting up and my original is an IMA I created from (I believe) an original looong ago.
  16. But the OP said they used a Win98 Boot Disk (first post), so... FWIW, if I have a chance, I'll find the "free" DDO software version from (WD/Seagate/Fujitsu/Maxtor/Samsung?). It's an old version I have stored on my HDD but can't remember which Floppy Image it is. If you don't resolve it otherwise, i'll try to find it.
  17. Here (Win98 and up) - http://www.mdgx.com/upd98me.php Scroll down to "2-14-2010 Update" I also can't remember the KB Article but the above are the files. That is if you have no Limitiation Jumper that *may* be affecting it.
  18. Yep, something odd about that missing. (Something is amiss.) FWIW, I rooted through Kelly's Corner (when up and through Archive) and if you see something that you can't seem to obtain, I may have it tucked away.
  19. The best you'll get is to obtain the KBnnn (Knowledge Base Number) from (e.g.) English one, find it on Microsft under Greek, and download them, one by one. Of course, there may be an easier way.
  20. See - http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/ Also see - http://www.xdot.tk/nliteimages.html They will happen as when they're coded to happen. It can't be changed. That's the best it gets.
  21. (sigh...) Thanks for the warning. I wonder if Server 2008 is going to eventually get bopped?
  22. OEM Recovery Partition "install" (not an install) isn't the same as Install "install" (what you want to do). It's a pre-installed Sysprep Image (Ghost, PC-Angel, whatever you choose to use and have access to). Can't be done with regular install. 1 - Sysprep-type OEM Install + customize 2 - Image it for Recovery ("restore") purposes That's an *extremely* rough/limited description (obviously). You would need the OEM Preinstall Kit (OPK) and an Imaging/Restore software/procedure. Undoubtedly the XP one is no longer available.
  23. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/154976-windows-update-downloader-not-finding-ul/ IOW, after Install you'll note a File Association for "ULZ", so double-clicking it causes WUD to "install" it for use. Basically says the same thing here. https://www.raymond.cc/blog/windows-updates-downloader/ HTH
  24. KB2926765 - also reveals WEPOS/POSReady. Hmmm....
  25. I've used "Classic" for soooo long...
