  1. You may have to wait for jaclaz. He's the resident HDD expert.
  2. That's because you have the string wrapped in "quo tes" (see what I did there?). You keep saying "but not from SFX". Which part of the CMD - *none* of it or some other part? You are aware that the files are unpacked into (eg) "TEMP/<RandomGeneratedFoldername>", right? IOW, the CMD may run, but if you reference anything else in the SFX you need to address that "generated" FolderPath. A couple of random topics - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/34343-winrar-sfx-commands/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/149278-sfx-archives-dont-wait-the-setup-programs/
  3. The Property/CustomAction still exists in the MSI so it still needs edited. Why use ORCA? http://www.instedit.com/ http://www.instedit.com/download.html HTH
  4. HUH??? http://windowsitpro.com/systems-management/how-can-i-enabledisable-ctrl-alt-del-enter-logon-information Turn it off to "get rid of" the CTRL-ALT-DEL. You'll go directly to the Logon. In either case, click "Options". Now you get a "Shutdown" button. Click it. See? You can select Shutdown *or* Restart in a pull-down. HTH
  5. ...and my mistake is that (AFAICR) that (32gb) was some sort of (older) BIOS limitation? (apologies for confusion)
  6. Check the SVCPACK.INF for the entry (that *should* be there). http://www.itninja.com/software/7-zip/7-zip-1/9-1120
  7. There's no such thing as WUA.EXE except in the UDC-created "WindowsUpdateAgent7.6.7600.256.cab", as Ponch stated. If you don't want it, don't add it. It's not *truly* integrated, but it's *run*. Take a look at the INI file inside the CAB. Here, I'll help you out. [EditFile]I386\SVCPACK.INF,SetupHotfixesToRun,AddProgram[AddProgram]WUA.exe /quiet /norestart /wuforceSee? It's not "integrated", per se, but run *after* everything else. It simply *updates* what's in the original I386 folder. IOW, if you don't want WUA, don't put that CAB in the Hotfixes. When you *remove* WUA, it will be... *gone*. HTH
  8. Uhhhh.... Sooo, that's not possible?
  9. 1 - Cables can be bad 2 - Cable connections (cable and where they connect) can go bad 3 - "Latch" cables are best because they don't work loose 4 - Even good connections will require being away from any other items that generate EMF or you'll get transfer errors From my own experience...
  10. That would be the HAL layer that's already installed. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/810903 If you want that screen, you'll have to change the HAL to "Standard PC". edit - Here's a hint - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/94410-multiple-hals-on-1-ghost-image/ ...and more specific file information - http://www.vernalex.com/guides/sysprep/hal.shtml Be aware that Standard PC can be changed *back* via Device Manager, whereas the reverse is not true. Swap the HAL files, change the BOOT.INI, select the alternate, confirm that a file swap occured. If it didn't, manually swap them, reboot and test the Primary selection functions the way you want, then restore the original BOOT.INI. I had changed from Single Core to Dual Core, put the Dual Core HAL in System32, changed the BOOT.INI, booted and it automagically swapped them. Put the original BOOT.INI back and I was done. This will *not* be the case ("automagic") for you because you're *forcing* yourself "backwards" to Non-ACPI. HTH reference - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172203-advice-on-a-64bit-system-upgrade/#entry1083292
  11. Does this sound familiar? http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-hardware/vista-32-bit-will-not-boot-past-logo-progress-bar/12efa828-1894-4b97-8fc7-8e49229162b8 Same advice given here - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-hardware/vista-will-not-boot-stuck-on-progress-bar-with-ms/e53a0913-3786-4232-a369-a8b5e982d1c2 And (maybe) here - https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/windows/en-US/6f30e0d1-5ed1-41df-a72f-287af5394e77/windows-vista-hangs-on-ms-copyright-and-green-scroll-bar Seems you've already tried that. Can you get into Safe Mode? There's a reference to a Zune update not installing. Google this "vista sp2 mbr update"(with quotes). After you "repair" your MBR next time, look at the Updates Log (can't remember offhande where it's at ATM) and see if anything failed to install. HTH...
  12. (sigh...) I see jaclaz (from the "partitioninfo" info) has isolated the problem to "moving" a pre-formatted drive from YUK-pc-A to YAY-pc-B. Helpful hint - *always* when reusing an old HDD, get rid of any partition info in the MBR by whatever means. Compaq hates us all!
  13. What version of "some drivers" and where did you get them? Also see this (related) for other "requirements" that you (probably) don't have installed. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/153748-latest-video-cards-for-windows-95/ Also see this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/132611-mobility-radeon-9200-on-win95c/ Found via Google "windows 95" "user32.dll" site:msfn.orgIs this, by chance, the one you got? http://download.cnet.com/Video-ATI-Radeon-7000M/3000-2108_4-189248.html Also found "some" drivers via google "ATI Radeon 7000" "windows 95"Your version may be too high? (see discussion above) HTH and good luck.
  14. Yes/No - browse around the Unattended area (hotfixes also listed) and also google this "windows 2000" hfslip site:msfn.orgThat's mainly where you'll find just about everything. Also see this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/158916-guide-to-installing-and-updating-windows-2000-professional/ Be aware that many BWC fixes are primarily for newer PC's, so it depends on your needs. There's a repository for those "fixes" that you may be directed to (implied, *not* a direct link - sorry...). HTH and good luck.
  15. One for Windows 95? Yes and no... Google this "windows 95" unofficial site:msfn.org You'll find this (mainly) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/129504-unofficial-windows-95-osr2x-service-pack-10x-final-release/ ...and this (seems to be obsolete) - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/83413-windows-95-unofficial-patches/ ...more patches - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/177518-xusbsupp-extended-usb-supplement-for-windows-95-osr2/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/141402-windows-95-21ghz-cpu-limit-broken/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/130936-kernelex-452/ Also see this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/110167-unofficial-windows-95-service-pack-availability/ There is *no* AutoPatcher for Win95. Using the above Google Search, you'll find other stuff. HTH and good luck.
  16. If I understand your first statement/question - no! They have to be in the correct folder. If you mean "can I extract the CAB into the correct folder using a script"... https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd744339%28v=ws.10%29.aspx The script is a different ball of wax. HTH (and please clarify your requirements/scenario)
  17. I just realized something - you have Win95 that has a size limit of 32gb. Did you install that second HDD and then started having the "phantom"? Browse this - http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/129027-big-hdd-48-bit-lba-thread-index/ And this - Link inside above link) http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/78592-enable48bitlba-break-the-137gb-barrier/ And look at this (re: Win95 disk size limits). http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/Hard-Disk-Drives-Capacity-Limits/482 Win95B - 32gb Win98+ - 128gb Note this has nothing to do with (re - Win95B) 48-bit LBA (*fix*) but the inherent limitations of the OS. Jaclaz is free to refute the above link if deemed necessary. HTH edit - seems that the IO.SYS file *may* need patched. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/118119-patched-iosys-for-9xme/
  18. @Mysterio 3 - WUA... I had provided several CMD/BAT "fixes" after that. Maybe you should just use the Official Microsoft one instead (second link - READ IT!!!)? ... Work-arounds to fix the problem. REMEMBER! WU and MU are two *entirely* different things! Or RickTendo's pre-packaged one (first link - read the REST of it!!!)? I can guaranteee that Windows Update (WU) works. MU (Microsoft Update) is "optional" in WU when you go to it. Please *do* read the second link all the way through. DOH! Forgot to mention - *Definitely* install the Last *Official* Service pack *before* installing the others, if it's not already part of you Source. Basically, everything you need is in the Listed Steps given above, except for the *OFFICIAL* WU File. *AND* you *must* (better) use the WUFORCE parameter (did you do that? read the links all the way through.)!!! ....and HTH
  19. (*GULP*) You've screwed up! It looks like you Partition Tables are messed up. I'm assuming the "D"-drive is the Win2000 USB stick? It *appears* that the Win95 is the "E"-drive from the image and what you said. ? Or is that a secondary 10GB HDD marked as "D"? If so, it's in the wrong cable connection position. Howw is the BIOS set to boot HDD0 or HDD1? ("inaccessible" first partition on Disk-1 is definitely wrong.) Better call jaclaz!
  20. You need: 1 - IE6-SP1 installed 2 - Root Certificates (latest) 3 - Read the following links (and yes, the WUA script works - get the LAST one) http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173232-xp-sp3-install-clueless-about-updates/ http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173049-windowsmicrosoft-update-not-working-on-windows-2000xp2003/ Also don't neglect the WUA.EXE parameters in the CMD file. Are you also installing the latest Win2K "Windows Installer" (curious)? HTH
  21. *NOW* you say you "have to install drivers" (apparently *not* supplied in Windows 7)... Start here and read (click on) the links given and the very next page. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/51406-drivers-from-cd-simple-method/#entry1092854 You need to add the drivers to an Unattended XML file. Problems solved and HTH (sheesh...)
  22. Just for fun (or not)... Cross-post to "newer"/locked topic. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/173350-internet-connection-during-setupcompletecmd/
  23. Nope, I was confused. And the link above now opens (your current MoBo, as you stated). "GA-P35-DS3L (rev. 2.0)" In spite of it saying "AM2/AM2+" it's a Socket-775 (aka Socket-T) capable of an Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core. http://www.cpu-world.com/Sockets/Socket%20775%20%28LGA775%29.html http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_2/TYPE-Core%202%20Extreme.html Fastest appears to be a 3.2Ghz with 4-cores/threads. What kind of cooler do you have? The Quads look like they pull some juice! NewEgg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128059 Ram up to 8gb... 1-PCIe-x16/3-PCIe-x1/3-PCI So... how *do* you "use your computer"? Are you trying to build a super computer? That one would be just fine, AFAICT. (I should be so lucky...)
  24. Additionally, this sounds familar. https://support.microsoft.com/kb/250931/EN-US See this for a complete Registry fix (scroll down to the Windows 98 one): http://filext.com/faq/broken_exe_association.php Download it (DOWNLOAD, not run) to a safe place, *then* double-click on it (hopefully, that's not screwed up). The REG file contents will add/merge/replace whatever is incorrect in the Registry. Now reboot and see if you're fixed. If it does *not* merge, just do "Start->Run->Regedit" and "import" the REG file and reboot. HTH
  25. The other thread was read but still confused.... If your install includes networking, you are physically connected, and you've come to your Desktop, why *wouldn't* you have an internet connection?
