  1. Hello again. Hope my old fart faves are still alive and kicking (or screaming, depending on...). :P

  2. LOL! Where da edit  button? It's all upgraded! Must have been that insane clown dude. <thumbsup>

      UCyborg

There's probably a 3 dots button. At least it's there for normal forum posts.

  3. Well, hello dere! Still kicking! Just  checking in.  Will at a later day see how some of my old faves are doing. Hopefully, y'all still kicking too.

  4. Yup! They appear to be failures, even with older versions. Folders in older version would be created but empty (ADK_4 and sub-folders). Not sure if useful, but I got them while the still existed. Side: The latest v20.10 (32-bit) doesn't run on XP/2003 (32-bit) for some reason. (Note that I "jumped" to the end of the topic, so...) Guess I'll try them on a 64-bit Win7/Win10 (I have them loaded on another PC). Not worth loading XP/2003 x64 right now. Busy trying to Reconstruct WinRE.WIM on a friend's Dell that a "helper" upgraded to Win10 and destroyed it (deleted when I had her "uninstall/back out). She's mad at the "helper" now. Won't let anyone but me work with it. (Addendum Side: Last person a few years ago "boogered" her profile - Original Name is using "Test" user-id - probably tried to "fix" using the XP-but-wrong-way method of make-new and copy-to...)
  5. FWIW, I got all the XP-X64 EXE files and double-checked that no more updates just after/around MS clobbered support. Done in a HyperVM (whatever) on one my other PC's (Srv2k8R2). Maybe an upload to Web Archive is in order?
  6. @xpclient Yes, those, as well as these: I may already have O2K2/O2K3 (not really sure) but I'm still using O2K7 and a very good friend of mine has Off2010 and plans on reloading their Dell Win7 from Recovery Partition. Where have you been uploading to (must have missed that)? A beer is in order as soon as you get it done.
  7. @jaclaz @Tripredacus Holy squat! Someone doesn't like Mr. Dvorak. Click on that medium link. "410: Account under investigation or was found in violation of medium rules." Sounds a lot like Twitter: "Shut up about that."/"How DARE you try to correct as blue check person! Suspended!" <crazy-googlie-eye-emoticon> (Side note: Yep! His account is suspended - the link is in the oldest Wayback...) BTW, Still kicking. Glad to see some of you still around.
  8. "Piece of <insert derogatory expletive here>" And yes, apparently back up again. In reference to said "person" I railed him for (1) His SHA is entirely different, so I'm assuming he/she/it (PC correctness on twitter - mustn't mis-gender) either (1a) downloaded a DIFFERENT version or (1b) altered it or (1x) downloaded with some POS software. (2) I uploaded mine to VirusTotal, got "hits" then realized OMG-AUTOIT and uploaded JUST an AutoIT from extract and SAME RESULT, proceeded to inform User that he's not too bright and should resign from TrojanHunter Club. End result - Fork-em for a cruddy reporting of a respected website "issuing trojans/malware" (not true at all) and Reboot is apparently back up (for now) and Steve-o is once more a happy (and somewhat smug -> purported TrojanHunters) camper. Back to fixing a dear old (from 50 years ago) gal's PC that her Son-In-Law was kind enough to "upgrade" to Win10 before I had a chance to back it up (hence stomping on Dell's WinRE.wim in Recovery Partition so I have to "recreate" it). Note: More to it than than but I think I have a handle on it (needs tested) - idea was to be able to Factory Restore if ever sell it (It's a bad-a$$ PC). HELLO, OFF-TOPIC!!!! L8tr, y'all and STAY SAFE FROM DA GLOBAL BUG!

  10. Welp, this explains why IE11 isn't included in your WUD UL. If anyone still wants it, it still exists and there's one last Cumulative Update on the Catalog. Original + Cumulative (No direct links, Steven...): https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18520/download-internet-explorer-11-offline-installer https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=KB4534251 WTH IS THIS THINGY? YEESH! What a wet bag of worms! (and that I replicated some stuff already in the topic).
  11. @sdfox7 - I assume that this method still works for Flash v32.0.0.192? http://sdfox7.com/chromexp2.htm
  12. Mostly private matters - hoping I (and especially my wife) will still be around for my 50th Hi-School Alumni party in August. "Still Alive And Well" - J. Winter
  13. Semi On-Topic - there's another place to clear some Cache crap in "Options"->"Advanced"-"Cached Web Content" (NOTE! It's in a DIFFERENT folder). Lots of space save by using both those "clear" functions ("Cached" using 250mb!). Best to be out of ALL tabs before you do that. and BEWARE that I had a boogered "Cached" and had to do a chkdsk and manually delete. Be ALSO aware that the whole "different" folder is a "caching folder" (for want of a better term) that you can literally delete and Firfox re-creates it from scratch.
  14. re: Difference between Shockwave and Flash Player: https://helpx.adobe.com/shockwave/kb/shockwave-player-faq.html#main_3 Basically, you're "kind of" right about Shockwave and "games", although my grandkids (several years ago) played games on PBS Kids website that were apparently Flash (?) games. On spare XP computers, mind you (not on MY computer, kids!)... And the result was the same re: Macromedia folder contents, but BOTH entries exist in Add/Remove, so I can't really definitively vouch for existence of both (busy cleaning up junkware).
  15. You have GOT to be kidding me! Doing a Google Search yielded a topic (for newer FireFox) that said "Clear Cache", so I cleared EVERYTHING "History->Clear Recent" (didn't even restart, still in SafeMode), and it works now! WOW! BTW, I replied to myself (instead of edit) to indicate the "fix". I'll soon see if it's still borked after I do a bit of web browsing and report back on this comment/post. "I see weird people and events, no ghosts yet. Scary!"
  16. I have a real oddball that may even affect Windows XP. When attempting to download (e.g.) Windows2000 SP4 EXE, I get a real nasty message that it can't read the source. I have installed all of the latest (as indicated on MSFN) Extensions/AddOns and have no "blocked" in RED on the Options page. It appears to have begun yesterday after fighting with installing "unsupported" Java (v191 "overlay" on v151, maybe I should have used v181?), the latest Flash and Shockwave, and NoScript. I haven't tried disabling NoScript (5.1.8.6) which was SUPPOSED to work (but maybe I'm wrong). AdBlockPlus is also installed but shouldn't affect Wayback. POTENTIALLY "Google Redirect Fix 2.1.10" may have something to do with it, but I don't see how for that either. A side note of another (to make the RED disappear) removal - "NET\Framework\v3.5\Windows Presentation Foundation\DotNetAssistantExtension" contents (also should have nothing to do with). Screen Capture of the specific problem attached. (Guess I've lost my Geek on this one...) Note that the specific error was SUPPOSED to have been fixed long ago in Firefox. ALSO note that it WORKS in IE8. This kind of makes me suspect Firefox is the culprit (also part of the "Get Up-To-Date" installs the past several days). I'd appreciate it if some kind sole would confirm/deny this? If need be, I'll indicate ALL AddOns/Extensions. ==== EDIT ==== Nope, STILL doesn't work with FireFox in Safe Mode. This didn't start happening until after Upgrade FF and attempt to get something via WebArchive. I DID have FF v46.0.1 (AFAICR) and had no problems except for the AddOns/Extensions (etc) not updating. @sdfox7 @dencorso - if you notice this, try it. Something is amiss (or I've lost my mind DURRR).
  17. JEEZ, I hate to bump old topics, BUT... Reading, @sdfox7 said in one thread: Chrome v34.0.1847.37 was the last Non-SSE2, and in THIS one it's said the v34.0.1847.137 is the last. It's not on his webpage (see previous comments) from the self-extractor that was sent. I DID find the full "137" installer on FilePuma. Is this the same as was provided? I MAY have a use for it on my old P-III Dual-CPU NetServer, otherwise, I guess I'll be using the v34.0.1847.0 one. Thanks for your patience for bumping an old thread. I'm loathe to dump that old beast (dual-550 + 1g RAM, noted in another OLD thread). It has an older Firefox (unsure what version I installed) on it and it DID work for my grandkids playing online games (has XP on it). /EndBump
  18. My sincerest apologies for being scarce and not making a donation. Personal matters have drained me both emotionally and financially. My thanks to all that have contributed to keeping MSFN alive and well. Live Long And Prosper, Y'all. <Hillbilly Spock>

  19. Even further OT, once some odd years ago, RoadRunner support insisted knowing my OS when I had already proven their interface was bad. Even my 98SE would no longer connect. Same hardware. In frustration, I said "XP" because it was none of their business I was running a server. Turns out, it was their hardware that went belly up. I so love ISP's generic tech support (looks in handbook - "Try turning it off then back on"). Again, good find!
  20. "Just started yesterday..." Nope, it started when the Board was upgraded since 2005.
  21. @Winfried - additionally... https://web.archive.org/web/20160103165653/http://www.pcdisktools.com/download/PCRegedit.iso It's a (in essence) LiveLinux.
  22. "aboutmybrowser" - Firefox 46.0 on Windows XP x64 Edition LOL! Firefox 46.01 on Server 2003 SP2 x86 But thanks for the "spoof" information. Bookmarked.
  23. Hooked it up. Unplugged the two 10gb HDD and popped in an IBM 4gb that I got from another old HP (had the Adaptec Add-in) Workstation. Used my LiveXP (WinBuilder) and had to use a Floppy to load the SCSI Driver (apparently disabled in the build due to SATA conflicts). Yep, Win98SE installed for a little grade school girl to learn and play on (various learning and... Barbie Game!). The Driver "drove me" nuts until I found a "TXTSETUP.OEM" set. This was apparently a Windows 95 Upgrade. I finally managed to get it to boot. It found all kinds of "New Hardware" and had a heck of a time redirecting/cancelling since it was done directly from 98SE Upgrade CD. Backing it up now to "for fun" "Uninstall Windows 98 SE" (they left the "Undo" files on the HDD). I'm thinking they installed a Base Win95 (no "extras") to allow for Upgrade (unaware that you can "trick: it). Still not sure how you went about FDISK/Format. You'd have to have a special Boot Floppy with the Drivers on it before you can use the CD. Also, it would have been real wise to set the SCSISelect (CTRL+A) parameters to Defaults, set the SCSI-ID on the HDD to LUN0, set all the other BIOS settings to Default (etc etc) and in the SCSISelect actually Format (Low Level) since there's a possibility the structure was different from whatever your HDD came out of. It would have shown the full size in there (AFAICR) if it fully recognized it. The HDD would have to be Wide/UltraWide (not LVD, AFAICT) SE 60-pin type with the Terminator set on the end of the cable (unless the HDD has built-in Terminator and should be set/jumpered and ON THE END OF THE CABLE). You SPECIFICALLY have to set which LUN# to boot from in SCSISelect (default is as I said LUN-0). Some nVidia cards may/may-not play well with Win9x. Also, I'm not really sure that a USB Mouse would be recognized easily since the BIOS has no setting for "Enable Legacy USB" and NO SETTING at all for the USB Ports (they're just "there"). The BIOS has a lot of limitations (it's HP Phoenix) and quirks. SCSISelect seems to be a (nearly) fully functional Adaptec (Modded for HP). You may want to get a PS2 Mouse and try using an EIDE HDD (older, since I believe the Controller is UDMA-33?) -or- check all of the hookups and settings (etc) that I described above for using your SCSI. MAYBE your Floppy Cable or the floppy itself is bad? RUH-ROH!!! That HDD will (probably) NOT work! It's an Ultra-320 and doesn't jive with straight Ultra-Wide! May/May-Not be LVD. http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3676381 http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02171562 http://sanwork.com/hp-compaq-bd03695cc8-36gb-10000-rpm-68-pin-ultra320-scsi-3-5-inch-hard-drive.html FWIW, here's the Installation Card (yours is listed - points to a Figure fur jumpers) - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/c-products/servers/proliantstorage/drivers-enclosures/SCSI-hd-installcard.pdf Seems to be made by Fujitsu (Model# = MAP3367NP) and looks like Dell used them too- https://www.amazon.ca/Fujitsu-MAP3367NP-36-4GB-HP-279785-001/dp/B00OH4CLHU Better Jumpers settings/description (MAY be able to use IF it's set to non-LVD -and- 16-bit, but doubt it since it's U320) - http://toshiba.semicon-storage.com/product/storage/pdf/AL_jumper_EN.pdf You may just want to find a less-than-32gb EIDE or maybe a 20gb SCSI-Wide that works with that old horse and an older non-nVidia low-end AGP-4x. (in addition to a PS2 mouse). Otherwise, these old beasts are pretty decent but parts are really hard to find and may be expensive. I lucked onto mine. Heck, the going price for the 4gb is @ $50.
  24. I said WU was at v6. How many Updates did WU offer on the Win2k (I'm curious)? That's the reason I have an archive of all Updates for Win9x's, Win2000, WinXP, and Win2003. Rather than dance with WU, get all of the updates and integrate. See this - Also this - Also this (apparently where they stumbled across it, also it only goes to 2006) - BTW, WU doesn't work with anything less than IE6 SP1. Maybe that's his problem? If all of the Updates are installed (correctly) then (even with WU v6 accessible), what's the point of even using it?
  25. Holy guacamole! I just went back and looked at my Everest report. There's USB ports "hidden" behind some silver tape. I don't know if this will help the helpers or not, but I'm attaching the Report (Text Version) that may/may not help. Note that I have extra NIC add-ins. I really don't have the time to hook the beast back up right now to test Win98 Install on it, but if your problem persists (with help from literal specs) I'll hook it up and try (time permitting). BTW, you have the latest BIOS. Be aware, this is the "full" report (sans keys) for XP-SP3, so there will be a load of dross to ignore (ZIP file). Sorry, best I can do for now, but this should be accurate for OnBoard except for your "plugged in" peripherals (HDD, DVD, Video, etc) and any "shared" stuff you see (via my router). BTW, thanks for waking me up on the USB thing (never paid attention, duh). (A topic that clued me in: https://community.hpe.com/t5/ProLiant-Servers-Netservers/HP-Netserver-E60-upgrades-question/td-p/312060 ) Edit - You darn well better check for resource conflicts as well in BIOS. (Kind of wondering about that HDD's compatibility, too - Got the Terminator on the end of the cable?) ReportForMSFN.zip
