  1. There ya go! Now that that's settled, the OP (an obvious noob) now has the perfect FOR-loop example. Now, if the OP so desires to return, they may be pointed to how to "write" the "remainder" of the BAT/CMD file. Otherwise, this exercise is at an end.
  2. Pardon my interjection, but it seems that discussion of ".000" profiles is entirely separate for the POSReady topic. In my case, it wound up confusing me. Side note: I'm working on a friend's computer as we speak that wound up with a corrupted User Profile that by default created a Temp one. The PC got pretty fouled up (bad sectors). Said owner (his mother) wound up using the TEMP ones and now I'm in the processes of figuring out how to Merge Newest-To-OldestOriginal. IOW, the above posts (usually) indicated Profile Corruption (for whatever reason) and there's (generally) a way of "fixing it back" as long as you don't let it go too far. Would it be possible to move the non-POSReady posts to a new topic?
  3. Yes, it will, but a single file at a time. You *could* make a BAT/CMD file looping through, but the point is it won't do multiples in one execution. My example, "zip1.zip" and "zip2.zip" in a folder to be extracted to a subfolder yields So either use something that does understand multiple ZIP files (OP specifically said "ZIP") or make a "FOR" loop in a BAT/CMD and run Uniextract against a Variable set within the Loop. Choose your poison...
  4. In folder "x:\CLIENTS\WIN95\NETSETUP" on the RTM Server. SETUP.TXT I believe it's the "Upgrade" set. CAB's are 2kb. http://www.velocityreviews.com/threads/old-windows.588196/ http://www.huguesjohnson.com/winnls.html http://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5015&start=25 Other references are from Chinese websites (just search the folder string). I obtained a copy from FCCdotGOV (don't ask any more and I won't tell).
  5. ( also ntLite... heh... )
  6. Before anyone assumes they need to do this, read the following. Port 135 - http://www.speedguide.net/port.php?port=135 Port 445 - http://www.speedguide.net/port.php?port=445 If you have no other PC's on your Network and/or you don't want File/Printer Sharing, by all means...
  7. That was an FYI (and a Q) only. I suupose you entirely cleaned out the First Install of the Driver Files before you tried again? Just "Removing" from Device Manager doesn't make the Installed Driver Files on the HDD automagically disappear, hence their being "automagically" being picked back up. Now, if you want to continue to be p*ssy (that's an "i") and ignore my remarks or snark then by all means wallow in your own failed understanding of "How Device Drivers Install and How To Remove Them Entirely". Now, try again... You're welcome.
  8. My second link... Scroll down to "how to make portable". ULZ files are just renamed ZIP files. It tells specifically where the UL (inside the Zipped ULZ) will (should) go. If that doesn't work, you got bad downloads. HTH
  9. 1 - No, Universal Extracter does not do multiple files. It's a specialized multi-type singke-file "extracter". 2 - Yes, Kel provided you with two alternatives that will extract multiple ZIP files. 2a - Go for 7-Zip (free. 2b - Read the Help file. Basically, put all ZIP in a folder, create another folder, run 7-Zip, select them all, then tell it where to extract. Clear up your confusion? HTH
  10. Windows 8.1 Update 1 directly from MS. Use Option 1. http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.html Be aware it will take a while. (Yes, I've done it in an attempt to salvage a dead laptop MoBo.) Fair warning, it creates ISO with INSTALL.ESD and *not* INSTALL.WIM for a *single* Edition at-a-time . HTH
  11. What OS are you installing on and what Version of IDM is it (give link, please)?
  12. FTR - it's the same package used for NT4, contents have separate folders. http://www.vernalex.com/guides/sysprep/introduction.shtml https://web.archive.org/web/20120406210541/http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=16536 I'm assuming it's because NT4 had the Win95 Install on one of the Server versions.
  13. Haven't used this crapware for a long time.[quite]this seems to happen a lot on computers that have had AOL installed on themAOL IE Installs are inevitably "customized" installs and have always been that way. When you open IE, it will always have the AOL customizations in them. Could you explain that? Also Google/Bing this. "internet explorer 9" swedish downloadIt appears to need IE9 Installed and the Language Pack added afterward. The following two give the ones for Vista/Win2k8 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-9-details.aspx https://www.microsoft.com/sv-se/download/internet-explorer-9-details.aspx Language Packs https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1944 Of course I could be wrong. You'll need the Full Offline Installer to be sure. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/ie-9-worldwide-languages http://windows.microsoft.com/sv-se/internet-explorer/ie-9-worldwide-languages I'm currently on a Pre-Vista OS so it doesn't show me too much and insists I'm stoopid. (as if...)
  14. I'm guessing that many/most Software have a Version Number embedded in the Filename. Want examples? Now about that Database... WHEEEE!!!!! FYI, I was also a Developer, Maintainer, Migration Software (Integration) expert. No, it is *not* an easy task and generally it's a team effort. Also Kel is a respected member here and gets assist because we *love* him. He'll do just fine. Although your concern appears genuine, please stop it. Thanks.
  15. WiFi speed/connection.Have you even considered that? Might I suggest direct connection to see if you still get a lockup? It is, after all, called "troubleshooting", right?
  16. Change it to the following or just delete the line. REM SHUTDOWN.EXE /r /t 0"REM" makes it a Comment line. The characters "::" instead of "REM" work the same way. *HOWEVER* I wouldn't recommend that since there will be Pending Actions that will *NOT* occur until you Reboot.
  17. Windows 8.x is (basically) an entirely different beast. I'm not really sure what Games are in it (since I have no *running* Win8.x test bed) or how they might compare to WinVista/7 (currently unplugged test beds) or what Games exist between them (or XP). What I'm saying is, Vista/7 Games *may* run on Win8.x but chances are you can forget XP ones. Sorry.
  18. Removing the "NTuninstall" folders will disallow uninstall but will still be listed in Add/Remove. If you take a look in HFMIG, you'll see the QFE branch of the Fixes showing. Not all fixes (but most) will go into it. Web Archive (with link to MS KB article) - https://web.archive.org/web/20140824082508/http://blog.ryantadams.com/2008/02/21/what-is-hf_mig-and-can-i-delete-it I'll assume that *if* you'll never Update again, go ahead. *But* if you ever do, I'd have an archive of all of them offline befor attempting (any) updates again. BTW, we still have until the middle of next month before Srv2K3 is "unplugged". Oh, and I haven't tested installing with a "/nobackup" param to see if the MIG folder still gets populated. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/262841 HTH
  19. Not sure if this is the one I referred to. Google "input.com" dosand see if that "fits".Also not sure, but I *think* this particular one was used in AutoPatcher. http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/18362-breakthrough-accepting-user-input-in-batch-files/ Whether they will work under CMD vs COMMAND...? HTH
  20. The statement about "FLASH available on the Archives" is fine if you have an account. So I didn't bother with a "direct" link (as per rules). WiFi speed/connection.
  21. To understand (but I still don't). Old MoBo - nVidia (dedicated graphics - broken) New MoBo - Intel (integrated graphics - not broken) Common - 3945ABG Works fine WinXP-x64/ Win7-x86 Fails (both graphics and sound) WinXP-x86 Me. You. Well, yeah, since the Drivers were still present in the OS/on the HDD INF folder (etc). How about you indicate *which* drivers (version) you're using / trying to use for the WiFi and *where* you got them? Win7 - http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=R257701 Older? (note that they come from Dell) - http://download.cnet.com/Network-Intel-Intel-R-PRO-Wireless-3945ABG-Network-Connection-Driver-Version-A00/3000-2112_4-176179.html FileHippo XP x86 (is *this* the version you used?) - http://filehippo.com/download_intel_pro_wireless_xp32/ I say again - probably the Drivers are at fault. Using the exact same Version that failed (see above last quote) is repeating the problem, not changing to see if something else works (e.g. an older set). Also be aware of the Graphics Memory usage between the old/new board. I'm assuming the "new" board is "stealing" RAM to use?.
  22. Uh... re-read the website. It says nothing about Silent Installs or Post-Install. All it says is that it monitors your apps and updates them when/if necessary from the website. So what am I missing / where was I wrong? IOW, *great*, now use that in conjuction with WPI (an entirely different function).
  23. In addition yearly inflation rate does not equal purchasing power. National News inviariably suggests how great everything is (if only min wage was raised) but don't take into account purchasing power. Compare $.50/gal gas / $.25 loaf of bread in 1972 to $2.80 gas / $1.20 loaf of bread today. Pretty sure if inflation rates were APR "compounded" (like banks do for savings accounts) people would be shocked. Also pretty sure this has floated OT... On-Topic - DOS/Win3x is great for really old games -if- you can get a slow enough CPU / low enough RAM. Been saveing a couple of old dinosaurs back for grand-kids. Just haven't got around to re-assembly. Win95/98 are ok too, except for some old games (like PacMan) run -way- too fast even on a P-133mhz (AFAICR).
  24. There's a Freeware program floating around somewhere that "simulates" that AFAICR. It *may* have been used in one of soporific's projects. When I get a chance I'll look around to see if I'm missing the boat. Meanwhile, pretty sure jaclaz will notice and find it or something similar.
  25. Well, that's very nice but it has nothing to do with WPI as WPI is customized for a given user's needs as is the website/software you suggest..
