Try completely uninstalling Avast. Just disabling it probably don't help but uninstalling should do the trick. TLS 1.3 draft is perfectly working in FF 52.9.0 ESR for me too.

Try opening \WINDOWS\ie8\spuninst\ folder and running spuninst.exe from there with Administrator privileges.

@Dave-H I had similar problems in May 2018 (Crypt32 Event 11 Error until threshold of 50 events) but after installing @5eraph's rootsupd.exe v1807 the problem is now gone for me. I think updater from @heinoganda should work fine too.

The latest nVidia card officially supporting Windows XP is a GeForce GTX960. This one is probably the latest from GTX960 family of cards released mid-2016. I bought two such cards in the January this year. Now they probably do not sell anymore. GTX970 and GTX980Ti will probably work too, but You need to edit the inf file of the driver (368.81 or 368.91 iCafe) and add a string with proper VEN_ and DEV_ codes for Your particular card. GTX10XX and later will not work, in my opinion...

I can be wrong but (as far as I remember from deleted posts) You need to use /overwriteoem switch while installing kernel updates on one of Your systems.

@Thomas S. ssllabs.com use elliptic curve cryptography which IE8 doesn't support (without local HTTPS proxy, of course).

@glnz Disguise is our everything. Especially for XP users. If I remembered correctly, disguise was needed (for the first time) to play videos on the BBC website under Windows XP about a year ago.

Lack of TLS 1.2 support in IE8 is one small problem. Missing Elliptic-curve cryptography support on OS/IE level is a much bigger and still unsolvable problem. If You really need a solution You can ask @heinoganda for help through PM.
