  4. Thanks, oops yes my mistake (twice!) The version of Superium I'm using is actually based on Chromium 121! I haven't updated to the latest 122 version as yet. Cheers, Dave.

  5. Off-topic, but I still use XP because I like it! I can always go over to Windows 10 on my machine if I need to do something which I can't do in XP. Now having Supermium means that I no longer have to reboot into 10 because I have a problem with a website in 360Chrome, which is good, and I still almost can't believe that a browser based on Chromium 112 will actually run at all on XP, despite its issues! I hope to be able to continue like that for as long as possible.

  8. Please read the topic title again. See "8". So it's NOT off-topic. And when it is, we have our good admins to handle the situation, Is it clear? Get back to me, if you need any further assistance. Geforce 6/7 and 8 AGP/PCI-E Driver Edition for Win98/ME by Zak!

  11. Go to about:config, and set geo.enabled to false.

  12. The obvious always speaks for itself. Things that are such self-explanatory and clear do not need any longer to be explained in detail. Apart from that, a more in-depth consideration would be inadmissible due to our forum rules and of no use in certain cases anyway.

  13. Yes. All about @roytam1's browser editions can be read here in this thread. And we had recently discussions about their diferences. Simply perform a search in this thread! In any case, New Moon 28 and Serpent 52 are UXP browsers.

  14. Apparently, you have not understood my quotes and the conclusion to be drawn from them. Your statement does not correspond to the facts. With the release of NM28XP build 20240406, there were indeed changes, however, all coming from the the UXP platform.

  17. ReactOS doesn't even have full Windows XP compatibility, let alone Vista and 7 one. Wine, on the other hand, evolved a lot over the last few years and that's the one having up to Windows 7 compatibility

  19. Thank you, Rob. Oh yeah, I'm a teetotal for life now too, not even a drop because I don't think I could stop at even a drop. Yeah, the vivid memories are there for me too and the days waking up in bed with my own p***, those were not good days or the best of me. Whatever awaits me (I haven't a clue) I'll just deal with it sober and only on the meds my doctor prescribes now.

  20. A good advice would be to search on the dedicated Acer forums or laptop BIOS modding communities. Probably they already know how to remove that hard lock. Probably it's not there at al (very rare)l, but the chances are extrenmely high it's locked since Acer is known to do that.

  22. Hi Dave ; I thought you made a typo the previous time , but since you referenced it a second time now, it's actually Chromium 122 the latest public release of Supermium is based on ... Cheers, and many regards to the UK!

  23. No matter the topic title from way back whenever, no GeForce 8xxx or higher card has proper working drivers for Windows 9x. Just because someone added them "hopefully" to the INF file and created a thread about it does not magically produce positive results. Discussion of flashing one card to another is generally off-topic for this thread, but I don't think anyone would have a problem with it as long as it involved cards that were actually 9x compatible, In this case, both cards in question are incompatible, and therefore very much off-topic despite the initial discussion of them being well intentioned and likely arising from not knowing they were incompatible in the first place. Enough of this.

  26. Can somebody explain me step by step, how to calculate a NEAR jump? 774F11CA jmp near 775CFF60h Thanks a lot Dietmar EDIT: I got it: 775CFF60-774F11CA=00 0D ED 96 But the near jmp itself has 5 bytes. Those 5 bytes we need to subtract from difference above. So we get 00 0D ED 91. The opcode is E9. And we have to use little Endian, so 00 0D ED 91 becomes 91 ED 0D 00. putting the opcode E9 at its beginning we get the correct jmp near as opcode to E9 91 ED 0D 00. Crazy. No bard, no chatgpt, no bing can calculate it, IQ == 00 00 00 00

  27. I guess you're not using Official Ungoogled Chromium v114 on XP! That's the main problem for many of us here, we want a browser that will still work on XP, and unfortunately the Chromium 86 based 360Chrome is now starting to get a bit too old. Chromium 112 based Supermium has no compatibility problems, but it's very slow and a dreadful resource hog!

  34. r3dfox is release branch Firefox made to work on Windows 7/8. Also with limited compatibility for XP using OCAPI and Vista using the extended kernel. Main download: https://github.com/Eclipse-Community/r3dfox/releases Alternative download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/r3dfox/files/ If you run into any bugs or issues, please report it on GitHub under the issues tab. I am more likely to get to it and remember to fix it if it's there. If you don't have a GitHub account, here is fine too though.

  37. Creating this thread was complex and very time-consuming. Right from the start, I paid attention to a good and clear structure. In the first three posts of this thread, I made a clear differentiation between extensions and custom buttons: Introductory post: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1226243 Extensions: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1226244 Custom buttons and other articles: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183923-extensions-and-custom-buttons-for-uxp-browsers-corrections-modifications-adjustments-and-special-recommendations/?do=findComment&comment=1226245 All listed entries there have been linked to their corresponding posts. Thus, all is easy to find. In my opinion, that will have to suffice. BTW, such kind of structure is rather rare to find here in this or other forums (actually fora), if I may say so. But thanks for your opinion!

  38. There are actually a lot of extensions or custom buttons that are just waiting to be given a new lease of life. Therefore, I would also very much welcome it if more users of UXP browsers who have the appropriate skills would fork and develop extensions or custom buttons. Strictly following the rule: the more, the better.

  42. I am planning to embark on a kernel extension for Windows XP with a topic started here. Perhaps win32 or someone else interested in this Vista Kernel Extension could advise me about where to obtain NT6.x functions that can be integrated into the Microsoft NT5.1 libraries. I am wary of extracting these functions from Win7 libraries due to possible incompatibility with the XP kernel, but I am not qualified to judge what problems might arise if you do this. An alternative source sometimes recommended for extracting NT6.1 functions for kernel extensions is Wine. A Wine download for Slackware can be downloaded from here. Is there a reason why Wine would be a preferable source for extracted functions compared to Microsoft libraries? Why does no-one recommend extracting NT6.1 functions from Reactos? Should I rely on BlackWingCat's W2K Extended Kernel 3.0e as a source for extracted NT6.1 functions assuming that he is expert enough to select this code from appropriate sources?

  43. Maybe, you try for example the extension KeePassXC-Browser in version 1.8.5.1 for Firefox 67 and up instead of the more recent ones for Firefox 96 and up. Reducing the minimum Firefox requirements inside webextensions rarely works.
