  1. New patched versions of winload.exe/efi were introduced to bypass code integrity checks. The installer also automatically sets bcdedit /set {current} nointegritychecks yes for them to work. To bypass all protections on ntdll.dll and win32k.sys, ci.dll was patched. ntext is now deprecated and the RtlQueryPerformanceCounter function is now in ntdll, so Firefox executables no longer need to be modified.

  2. The MEGA folder has a new winload.exe, winload.efi and ntoskrnl.exe that must be used with 2018 or later updates. Because of the new incompatibilities, the target will be moved from April 2017 to March 2019 (SHA-2 code signing update).

  4. I discovered that there is a programming language which is typically used for creating scripts like vbs. But it's possible to create a graphic application with that and even Wine can run these applications! What do you think about these programming languages? If you want, you can't mention and discuss about other programming languages which still support XP!

  7. I didn't ask if you did have an interest in Yandex. What I wanted is for you to show how you accomplished using the standard window decorations in 360chrome. Once you do show how you did it, it is MY plan to try to adapt it to Yandex, as I do not use 360Chrome (and never will). I don't know if I will get anywhere, but the oppurtunity to try would be most excellent.

  8. I do not answer the phone anymore unless it is a call from someone in my address book. For years now I get at least 2 calls a day from random "local" phone numbers that are scammers of some sort. None ever leave a message. Any time I answer it is a recording in another language. I don't want to say it is Chinese but I could guess it is that, but I do not know the sounds of the other SEA languages to know if it is. It is not a European language, Japanese, Hebrew, Arabic or Urdu, that I can tell you.

  9. Is that "the IRS" the calls you and tells you that? I used to get those every so often myself and if I don't recognize the phone number, I just let the answering machine take it. Well, a computer would leave the voice message and some of their horrible English skills were laughable at best. One of my favorite lines was "As soon as possible, call back on (and then the phone number)." Like....What Even Is That???

  10. Apparently, his Wsus server is only configured for English updates. I tested it on my french XP iso, no updates displayed, excepted .net framewok which is not language dependent. It would be good to mention it

  11. What's meant is: April 2017 + KB4474419 However, patching up to March 2019 with everything else is probably fine too

  12. The authors would point out that AutoIT is a scripting language and not a programming language. I'm sure there must be some reason for the difference... And I think it is because it requires something, such as how ActionScript is also a scripting language and not a programming language because it requires Flash to execute. Kix was another old scripting language that could be used for XP, but it is not as fully featured as AutoIT was even back then. It was the reason why I even used AutoIT because Kix couldn't do something I needed.

  13. There is another programming language called bgt, which is specially usefull for creating audiogames. The thin is that bgt was abandoned in 2016. I use to run a bgt game called Crazy Party inside Windows 2000 with Bwc's extended kernel, Windows XP and even Windows Vista/Longhorn build 4074 and of course newer Windows! I'm wondering if you can run BGT games inside Windows 98SE/ME with latest Extended Kernel core updates!

  15. COBOL! Supports big mainframes from times, when normal computers were filling a whole room. Old IBM is offering courses for Cobol, because there are old Cobol programs out there in use (in banks and insurances for example), that need maintenance. FreeBasic has a current version for DOS. Cross-compiling between old and new hardware should be possible. I like it, because my beloved OHRRPGCE is written in FreeBasic, and that program still runs its current release on Windows 95 up to Android smartphones. Old versions of Visual Studio can be used for targeting older operating systems, of course. Here is an example of someone trying to create a program for Windows 98 not that long ago. It will probably work on new computers, too. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22378738/install-net-app-developed-with-vs2012-on-windows-98

  23. From what I can gather, the "libGLESv2.dll" file is needed for older graphics cards for 3D rendering. Not sure "how old", per se, as none of my computers seem to be old enough to "require" this file for 3D rendering. I don't really do a lot of 3D graphics via web browser. I used this as a test - https://www.wirple.com/bmark/ Mypal 27.9.4 scored 461. palemoon-27.9.7.win32-git-20210220-3b1d2cdd8-xpmod scored 384. palemoon-28.10.3a1.win32-git-20210220-729367b92-uxp-2b6effbf2-xpmod scored 618. bnavigator.win32-20210220-355db4de-uxp-2b6effbf2-xpmod scored 608. basilisk52-g4.8.win32-git-20210220-d9301c4-uxp-2b6effbf2-xpmod scored 645. And, drum roll, please -- 360Chrome v13 build 2206 scored 2941. 360Chrome v12 build 1592 scored 2565. 360Chrome v11 build 2251 scored 2457.

  24. If I may play devil's advocate for a moment: out of fairness to Windows 10, it has gotten a bit better than the RTM release. And I'd also like to point out that XP wasn't always the "gleaming pinnacle of perfection" that many see it as nowadays; In fact, back in 2003-2004, I recall it was actively despised, and often criticized as being slower than the versions it replaced, namely 2000 and 98 SE (which was still pretty much 100% usable back then). It did improve with time, however, and once SP2 came out and multi core PCs became more commonplace, XP matured quite nicely. It would be nice if 10 would follow the same progression and actually become a mature, decent product, but so far, it hasn't.... Be that as it may, even after almost six years, I still don't like 10, and I won't use it (I actually did try for awhile, but it broke on me, and rather than going through the effort to reinstall, I decided to wipe it and install Linux in its place). Fortunately, because my primary is Mac OS, I don't really have a need for everything to work 100% on any older Windows, thus having the luxury to tinker with and hack up any Windows of my choosing ad infinitum . c

  25. Interesting question..... I really can't decide on a version because I genuinely think Windows 10 as being the biggest load of crap that we have had to put up with.... XP and Windows 7 were the closest that Microsoft have got to being good....but we all have different opinions on that and I respect all opinions.... Sorry, could not bring myself to picking a version.... bookie32
