  1. I fear that no one here will convert a webextension to a legacy extension, just on request. The probability for that is close to zero. Especially when it comes to a rather unimportant extension whose function is already covered by some legacy extensions. The effort involved for doing such a project is very significant. The only way is looking for an extension programmer, who usually has to be paid for, or performing such conversion on their own.

  2. Virginia Madsen looks like a Princess, someone having Royal Blood. Florence Pugh looks like a random instagram woman. And yes, I watched the film, we here got it for very cheap. on sale.

  5. Yes, I deliberately omitted column No. 3 from the Forbes article for obvious reasons you've just proved to be right. In fact, I even wanted to help you not to land up in a funny situation like this, that's why I didn't quote that column. In English, we have two absolutely different meanings for "famous" and "talented"! Fame has nothing to do with talent. There are a lot of famous folks on insta, it doesn't automatically make them talented or actors.

  6. Just thought I'd let you know that I fixed my 'everything too large' problem on XP with 'large fonts'. Add '/high-dpi-support=1 /force-device-scale-factor=1' to the command line in the Supermium shortcut. Problem solved!

  7. I am NOT familiar with "Dune" (I've heard of it but have ZERO familiarity/insight). Regarding the part I've bolded, "emotional connection" is ONE (of MANY) reasons I do not watch movies! I hate hate HATE watching actors/actresses do "fake tears" and I immediately stop watching no matter what when actors/actresses do these STUPID "fake tears". Look up "The Flash" on Netflix. HATE IT! HATE IT! HATE IT! Because the "superhero" is always always ALWAYS crying like a BABY!

  8. I'm not a coder either. I was more enthusiastic about it when I was younger and free from having to work for a living. Hacked up some stuff together, some published, some not. I find the whole thing rather boring these days, takes forever to get anywhere. I don't have forever anymore and I'd rather not be glued to the screen 16 hours a day. Feature requests? Yeah, I'm sick of those at work. Number of bizarre ones among them. I'm not in a position to implement them or decide whether they get implemented, I'm just a messenger. I'm feeling more disconnected from IT as I get older, wondering a lot of time what's the point of it all. A browser is a browser, a text editor is a text editor, a toaster is a toaster. People seem to be making an elephant out of everything. Why bother? An EMP blast can send everything to kingdom come in an instant.

  9. Looking at the quotation from the version history on their homepage, the support for Windows XP seems to have been restored in WINSCP 6.3.2 and that completely unexpected. Unbelievable and great! WinSCP is the FTP client I am using to connect my Android devices with my Windows XP computer via WLAN. I thought support for Windows XP had been discontinued for good. BTW, the most recent version 6.4 is already announced but not released yet. But it will probably not be long in coming.

  10. Whom exactly do you call "young"? Princess Irulan. Original - Virginia Gayle Madsen (born September 11, 1961), 21 years old at the moment of filming in 1983. Remake (weakest cast ever) - Princess Irulan. Florence Pugh (/ p j uː / " PEW "; born 3 January 1996) - 28 years old! But probably still "young" for Christopher Walken, in his 80s.

  12. In English, we have two absolutely different meanings for “weak” and “untalented,” but at MSFN we have at least three accounts that do not know that, as I pointed out March 15. You are not going to convince me that my enjoyment of a recent movie was an error on my part, nor is there any point in discussing the talents of recent movie stars with someone who does not watch recent movies. Meanwhile, today will probably be the day when Dune: Part Two surpasses $500 million at box offices worldwide. That is very good for a post-pandemic film that is not an Avatar sequel. (Of course I also saw the Avatar sequel at a cinema more than a year ago. ) https://www.gamespot.com/articles/dune-2-nears-huge-box-office-milestone-passes-first-movies-entire-run-after-10-days/1100-6521893/

  17. NM 27 and NM 28 typically use the same profile folder: %appdata%\Moonchild Productions\Pale Moon. If you wish to use both NM 27 and NM 28 on the same PC, you should make one or both portable to keep their profiles separate. (I believe a portable loader is mentioned in the first post of this thread.)

  21. Now the column No. 2 that specifically targets the main weak actors (which is my opinion, also): "2. Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya do their best, and it’s not enough." https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2024/03/03/the-5-biggest-problems-with-dune-part-2/?sh=16521e2613ce "Not enough" because they simply can't do better, if it's not "weak acting", "poor cast", "miscast", "misfitted actors", I don't know how else to translate it to you. And again, those are *not* "attacks", those are film critic reviews and personal opinions, you don't like them? Ignore, you don't have to reply to everything.

  22. OMG! Use the internet, see tons of negative reviews. Those are *not* "attacks", those are film critic reviews and opinions, you don't like them? Ignore, you don't have to reply to everything. Overall, nothing in that "C" grade film that deserves to be discussed that meticulously. "The 5 Biggest Problems With ‘Dune Part 2’" by Erik Kain. "1. The emotional connection does not connect." "4. Dune Part 2 is too long and too rushed at the same time. And it ends too abruptly." "5. The Harkonnens are just cartoon villains now." https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2024/03/03/the-5-biggest-problems-with-dune-part-2/?sh=16521e2613ce

  33. I shouldn't trust Brave these days. I discovered it requests "GetFirmwareType", GetFirmwareType - "Retrieves the firmware type of the local computer". https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winbase/nf-winbase-getfirmwaretype Why would a browser that declares itself "privacy oriented" want to know your exact firmware? Yes, it's for only one purpose, to bind your account to the PC you're on. More and more sophisticated tracking.

  36. ... Well, all I can tell you is that "my inner circle" most probably doesn't know what FUD means ; I have picked that up some years ago, by reading posts on the net ; and yes, I had to first look up its proper meaning ...
    1 point
  37. I always have to laugh when people use acronyms that may be everyday knowledge for their inner circle but that others have never heard of. I seriously thought this "FUD" meant "F'd Up Display" (ie, web page not rendered correctly) and it was acronymized (yes, I made up that word) because the "F Word" is not allowed here at MSFN.

  38. ... I did some further testing today and it appears that the cut-off value has been set at Chrome/100.0 (for the tests to work, one has to wipe out browser cache and "sciencedirect.com"-set cookies before testing a different "Chrome/*" value ); 100+ will load the site fine in 360EEv13.x/KMB , 99- will redirect to the "browser-out-of-date" page ; since this is a block purely based on UA-sniffin', I would argue they had blocked older clients for "security-related FUD"; I don't believe their servers risk any harm by allowing those older clients though, the tactics smell of forcing the user to switch to a more "secure" browser version (however, v100 is still far from v122 , the current Google Chrome) ...

  39. On one XP partition, I am using Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1.2522, and on the other one, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro 1.75.0.1300 due to the lifetime license I own for many years. If I didn’t have this lifetime license and preferred a free antimalware programme, I would choose Panda Free Antivirus on Windows XP.

  42. I guess kiss the unGoogled Supermium idea goodbye. From what we can see by the comments/issues/suggestions at the github's page, many would like to have it Googled - to be able to use Google services. Hence the newly added Google sync or whatever they call it.

  43. Ungoogled 109 is the last for Windows 7, it can be made fully portable with the help of just 2 flags.

  44. Hello everyone. I just finished re-adding GDI to Supermium. At first it would only work in --single-process mode, but I got it working in standard mode by ensuring that FontCache objects have the Skia GDI font manager when GDI is enabled. Then I want to fix TLS, readd D3D9 DXVA support, and link Supermium against a DLL with implementations of many newer functions. I have fixed my PMs if you are interested.

  49. No problem like that in my place, even though a common user -perhaps even an ISP- can't really know if certain sites are blocked. I just don't care for anyone but the site I am browsing to know I am there, and I don't even want some sites to know -therefore the use of tor and such. However, ISPs -and many sites (see pm, for example)- can also detect the use of tor, and either block it or (potentially) log it and report it to either governmental or non-gov agencies, or to particular individuals in the national or international arena. And since not so many ppl use tor, once an ISP wants to do it (or is forced by agencies or individuals with the muscle to do so), they can see you are running tor, like a bright needle in the dark. Then the rest is just waiting until they find out where you are. Running behind something like shadowsocks may make that harder than it is today. In my case, I do not care about the instances when the previous paragraph becomes a reality. But it will sure take them a while, and more than a sorry a**, to know I'm just human. I don't know (or really care) if my mother would approve of my browsing behavior. I do care that petty hackers, clumsy censors, or my ISP know what I'm about. Just coz, sometimes research, and fun. Nuff said.
