  1. -there are link to IE6 SP1 and it is not SP1 is SP0 so you should to verify , or download IE6 SP1 from Blackwingcat blog . -no BWC not include SP4 SRP1v2 in extended kernel you should to download it from wlu site The SP4 SRP1v2 is an official update released by Microsoft as an alternative to the canceled SP5 for Windows 2000 and it's newer than XP SP2 in date : http://win2k.org/wlu/wluen.htm search "Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4(v2)" in search text box .

  2. I NEVER USED KASPERSKY! You sound just like D.Draker and the other accounts of the Vista x64-using, Kaspersky-hating European (all of which I am blocking). What I am promoting is freedom of speech at MSFN, nothing more or less. I would truly like to be on friendly terms with you AstroSkipper, but perhaps it is too late for that now. If I have offended you in a personal way, then I sincerely apologize for that. I’m trying to celebrate Independence Day here, so good night to you now.

  5. MSFN’s tiny Anti-Kaspersky clique has already broken any geopolitical barrier that was once thought to exist, e.g. I wonder if moderators noticed that AstroSkipper announced his own foreign policy in a Windows XP thread? However, if a moderator chooses to delete my previous post here, I would not be angry or heart-broken. I miss the old MSFN.

  6. I treat official warnings from any of the government agencies depending on their contents, and BTW this is not a warning, but a recommendation, and (as said) its content is (vague) wishful thinking or generic advice. The note is BTW not particularly tailored to Kaspersky or to any other particular software, it talks of "information technologies supplied by firms connected to the Russian Federation". Without an official list of "firms connected to the Russian Federation" it is meaningless, yes, we know (from other sources) that Kaspersky may be one of these firms, but for all we know, any number of other software or hardware related firms could have similar connections. And the actual recommendation is about conducting an analysis of the risk (Risk Assessment), which is essentially a simple (or complex) document (not entirely unlike some of the ISO9001[1] ones), where someone uses senseless formulas or reasonings on partial, incorrect, non-existing or invented data to derive a (wrong or right, usually pre-determined) conclusion (subject to revision/reviews/changes) , it is only (bad, useless) bureaucracy, the pool where consultants with dubious qualifications and (officially qualified but often clueless) auditors like to swim. Unlike Laws or technical norms (where formulas are given and data needed is specified, and processes are detailed) a generic risk analysis document: https://drata.com/glossary/risk-assessment can be made according to no less than 6 different principles: https://drata.com/blog/risk-assessment-methodologies and then the actual data and algorithms you can use in the document can be almost anything. jaclaz [1] the actual norm for IT security is ISO 27001 (and 27005) that not unlike many other ISO ones is pretty much "vague" and open to different methodologies/approaches: https://advisera.com/27001academy/what-is-iso-27001/

  7. This makes very little difference, because I'm almost sure that to install all the useful updates (like platform updates) and those for the extended kernel you need to install sp1 and sp2 first and even if you don't, all your system files will get updated and won't be anything like those RTM ones. So it doesn't really matter what iso you choose to install Vista as long as it is not broken and preferably original. If it works on fresh XP and Vista sp2 then it should also work on Vista RTM :) I think native hd audio support had already been introduced by the time RTM was released, but you probably don't need this sound card before updating your Windows anyway

  8. For TikTok’s critics, it’s not just about personal data: It’s also about what we might call “Xi-nophobia.” Chairman Xi, who is said to be “Putin’s puppeteer,” will allegedly use TikTok to spread Chinese propaganda and “brainwash America’s youth” with the help of artificial intelligence. If you point out that TikTok’s headquarters are in Singapore, they will retort that Singapore is “a well-known Red Chinese nest,” and in any case parent company ByteDance is in fact based in Beijing. It sounds suspiciously like jingoism to me, but I don’t plan to use TikTok on my iPhone.

  11. It's you who want to see it that way, people are worried about their safety first! Like in the case with TikTack, where they store ones data on Chinese servers. A big question is, why are you going on a personal vendetta against normal people, who never said anything bad about you? Are there any financial strings attached? Or it's again just your usual stalking? Please bare in mind, it's just a simple question, nothing else! And I'll be perfectly fine, if it remains unanswered. Thnx!

  12. This whole thing is confusing and that Python script still doesn't make it exactly like "the factory" does. So one thing, compression, some Mozilla applications have files in the archive compressed, some of them not. All factory baked omni.ja (or palemoon.res) in case of official Pale Moon come with header error when clicking Info in 7-Zip. optimizejars.py you linked to does not introduce header error. palemoon.res even has some weird "129:v1" written for compression method of each file, so 7-Zip doesn't even unpack it. I use 7-Zip 21.03 ZS v1.5.0 R2 (x64) ATM, will update it at some point. Mozilla stopped compressing files in the archive at some point, see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/32038251/how-to-correctly-repack-omni-ja-in-firefox: zip -0DXqr omni.ja <file(s)/dir(s) to pack> They also sign it now, but we don't have to worry about that in certain forks, UXP apps included. Uncompressing implies more work at runtime, at least that's my thinking. So is it better to not compress or is there a catch? More questions than answers in the end.

  16. You can edit DISM\Sample.ini or better create your own lets say RemoveAppx.ini. Remove the netfx3 under [EnableFeature], as it takes some space. After using DISM option with WinNTSetup, a list of APPX packages the are not removed. Dism /Image:X:\ /Get-ProvisionedAppxPackages Add what you want to be removed under [RemoveAPPX] of your ini. As for space warning, only compact:none has one

  17. I agree with Jody, 12 is rather good! Just don't upgrade any further on the old devices, like this one is really slow. 4 Reasons Not to Install iOS 15.7.7 & 11 Reasons Published 3 days ago on 06/30/2023By Adam Mills Apple’s iOS 15.7.7 update could have a huge impact on your iPhone’s performance. While most users should install the firmware right now, others are better off waiting a few hours or perhaps even a few more days before upgrading from older iOS software. iOS 15.7.7 is the latest iOS 15 upgrade for iPhone and it’s available to download right now if you own an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, or iPhone 7 Plus. The software’s not available for newer iPhones. The iOS 15.7.7 update is a minor release, but it brings important security patches to these iPhone models. It doesn’t have any new features or bug fixes on board. https://www.gottabemobile.com/4-reasons-not-to-install-ios-15-11-reasons-you-should/

  28. When I see some interesting hobby projects on github, it is fun to try and build a Windows XP compatible version from the sources. Preferably by building on Windows XP itself. For that one needs a somewhat recent version of CMake. https://cmake.org/ Official CMAKE packages dropped windows XP compatibility after this one: cmake-3.13.5-win32-x86.zip from 2019-05-14, last in 3.13 serie. ReactOS Build Environment package RosBE-2.2.1.exe includes an XP compatible CMake: cmake-3.17.2 (without GUI) By comparing and selecting MSYS2 packages, I assembled an XP compatible version of CMake v3.20 (08-07-2021). Available on my website in the back-ports section. http://www.gb-homepage.nl/index.htm

  29. @MWF look https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal68/issues/218#issuecomment-1604600668 Shall plan to publish the new release upon next week. I did like a stress test on mypal 68.13. My pc is core2duo 8500 3.16 ghz, 3 gb ram, hardware accel is off - default value, multiporcesses are 3 for tabs, 1 for extension, 1 for rdd (5 at all - these are default), other settings also default. Also have extensions: ublock, decentrales, сanvasblock, xiaoxiaoflood userChromeJS and downthemall for firefox 68 3gb ram was filled at 30 tabs 15 youdube (one playing) and 15 aliexpress. No any crashes Was opening more tabs, 20 at all 10 for yt and 10 for ali What i notices are freezings and slowdowns when i switch tabs, many windows about "script not responding" where i pushed continue, after all it was still usable. Finally i have closed the browser with all 50 tabs, it has not closed at once though, takes a minute while and closed all successfully. By the way name the most heavy site you know, for me it is yotube. IN CONCLUSION I suggest to leave settings on their default values, toggle ones only if you well know what they do and why, especially do not forcefully turn acceleration, webgl and other grafics stuff, it still remains broken on winxp.

  32. hi , according to my experience today and i ask blackwingcat in problem i think like your problem but with more details , the problem is because you don't have KB891861-v2 installed in your envirenement. extended kernel required if you use original 2000SP4.iso without any updates then you should to have: IE6SP1(not SP0->if sp0 the installation of kernelEX will not work)+KB891861-v2 (Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4(v2)) installed, i hope this will solve your problem.

  35. What a load of crap ! I use Vista only because of the quality/convenience. I hate everything ribbon/non-aero. Why should I pay for something I don't like/need ? I took extended tests upon entering the academy, I shouldn't be serving in the military, if I had issues. So you're wrong, sorry to disappoint, And I stay away from this topic, since me (mentally healthy) posting here would be 100% off-topic. In any case, please accept my congratulations ! P.S. I have friends from another countries, who are unstable, I understand you.

And with the current amount of ignorance, I trust they will succeed. Also, don't forget about the KGB/Russia owned telegram.

  43. AVG Antivirus Free 18 is a cheap imitation of avast! Free Antivirus 2018. As I have reported several times, I had various problems with avast! But AVG takes the cake. With AVG Antivirus Free 18.8.4084.0, I had only problems and even crashes on my computer (real Windows XP). That's why I provided the download link to AVG Clear 18.8.4084.0 that you quoted, to get rid of this version completely. The choice between AVG 18 and avast! 2018 is like between plague and cholera , but I would always choose avast!. You can already see how "good" AVG is from your posted links. They removed all original links to the version 18.8.4084.0 of AVG Antivirus Free and offer a previous version. Maybe, because the version 18.8.4084.0 or its installer is crappy indeed? Anyway! If you really want to install AVG Antivirus Free 18, then I have this link for you: Download of the online installer for AVG Antivirus Free 18.8.4084.0: http://web.archive.org/web/20181227134304if_/https://install.avcdn.net/avg/iavs9x/avg_antivirus_free_setup.exe This installer is language-neutral, but I'm definitely not going to try it, not to mention the fact that I hate online installers anyway. And the most recent, official online installer is supposed to recognise the operating system automatically and install the correct version. Here is the download page: https://www.avg.com/en-us/windows-xp-antivirus#pc All at your own risk! I already warned you. The offline installer of AVG Internet Security 18.8.4084.0 should work, too. Maybe, there is an option to install the free version instead of the trial when starting its setup, or after the trial period ended, it should revert back to the free version as usual. BTW, I know Avast bought AVG some times ago. I think they want people to use their own, original products, and that is one more reason to remove such AVG installers. Doing so they have less rival products. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  45. Hello @xrayer! First of all, you should not forget that Mypal 68 is still in development, and the version 68.12.5b is in beta stage. Therefore, I would expect a lot of BSODs although I never had one. Did you post your problem in the issues of Mypal 68 on Github? Issues of Mypal 68 That's actually a better place to get help. There were already opened different issues about BSODs, and as far as I know, @feodor2 is generally interested in the data of them. Here is a quotation of @feodor2's instructions if a blue screen occurs: Kind regards, AstroSkipper

  46. Hi @cmalex, thank you very much for your reply and your download link! I've taken a short look into it, and I have two questions. The version ProxyMII is written in Python, it has not been compiled to an executable exe file, and the proxy has to be executed by proxymii.bat. Is that correct? If so, could it be compiled to exe files? I would like to integrate it in my ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu, only with your permission, and credits to you, of course. In this case, a compiled version would be perfect and presumably, necessary, too. I am not familiar with Python, and therefore, I never compiled Python code, either. But, first of all, many thanks again for your report here and your proxies! Kindest regards, AstroSkipper
    1 point
  47. As I mentioned earlier, I'm not a Python programmer. I have never learned or used this programming language. So, as long as there is no one taking a look into the provided source code of ProxHTTPSProxy and giving their assessment, nothing further can be done in this project, unfortunately. Just a reminder! Anyway, hope dies last! Kind regards, AstroSkipper
