I completely avoided this method and I was able to successfuly port the bleeding edge Opera 97 (Chrome 111) and I have no delays with the startup you wrote about earlier. Screenshots with proof below. Opera was released on 06.02.2023 (yesterday) . It is fully functional, apart from the settings page (I get the error on the screenshot when I try to open them). Apart from that isuue I have the ability to enter the flags section, about, history and bookmarks. Lets' work together to find the cause for the settings. I was able to discover the reason for that weird slowness you wrote about. In short, the chrome devs are mor0ns (surprise...not). They have implemented a new crappy API that doesn't work as expected. I found it . Am I a genius, I dunno ... Link : Microsoft confirms that API is crap. "Thank you for your feedback. We have identified this issue as a Windows issue." https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/t/prefetchvirtualmemory-does-not-seem-to-preload-fil/13459582 points

don't if you take the time to mod and use such an old OS you might as well allocate some time to manually install the drivers this could be an explanation, the cpu just doesn't get the required voltage and craps itself (maybe check the cpu cooler? to see if it's mounted correctly and check if there is thermal paste) it's worth running a stress test if you can - OCCT is a good tool for that and can run on windows vista with ex kernel (haven't tested on a vanilla install so it might work on that too)1 point

@VistaLover I meant he didn't realize that the error prints codecs separated by spaces. I remember another thread for that site on PM forum from few years back, the workaround hasn't really changed since. So my theory when last users give up on UXP browsers: When YouTube stops working. When PH stops working. BTW, still having problems with Nextcloud. The data it sets in cookies eventually causes the browser crash, have to clear all cookies for the site, otherwise it's crash-to-desktop city every time the site is accessed, so not really workable in practice.1 point

It's a wide spectrum. I guess I just know few bits there and there. I used to write patches for some old games, those that nobody bothered with. So got tiny bit of taste of x86 assembly and C. It was nice, to work by myself at my own pace. Got asked few times how you do these things and I've honestly no idea how to explain them, it's not something for a forum post. A friend back then suggested I could ask for donations. I think I only said I dunno or something, later, my thoughts were money just ruins everything. Had to get a "real" job at some point, after which I eventually abandoned all my work, which could still use some polishing touches. No energy/will for these things anymore. Financially stable, for now...other than that just flowing through existence, putting one foot in front of another, day by day... Ugh, several months ago I submitted Slovenian translation for Stylem extension (for UXP browsers), realized few days afterwards that I should really change the wording of one string as the most direct translation just comes out wrong and dumb in Slovenian, still haven't got to it... Having it in the taskbar is neat IMO, but I'm more bothered by the fact something's broken in my installation. I bumped up my Windows 10 version for few builds recently for some bugfixes of interest, funny I was doing it in the late evening and I passed out shortly after inputting DISM command to install the update package. Must have taken a while and when I woke up in the morning - "The operation completed successfully." - phew! Booting took significantly longer than usual and so did logging in, but it seems to have stabilized after few days. Thanks, will read. It's difficult with all the toxicity out there.1 point

How have I never seen this terrifying bungie disaster?? NTB Staff ··Feb 5, 2023 · NottheBee.com I've always wanted to do this, but I think I just changed my mind… Before you freak out too much, the woman in the video did survive. This happened in 2012 in Africa, and like a lot of things on the internet, resurfaced to terrify the heck out of us. Erin Langworthy slowed enough before the cord broke to allow her to survive the plunge into the Zambezi river at Victoria Falls in Zambia. She spent 40 minutes in the water, but in the first few she managed to stay conscious enough to swim out of the rapids. The sound of bubbles was so loud. I felt as if I had been slapped all over. My hands had stopped me hitting the water headfirst and blacking out. My lungs were on fire and I was struggling to breathe. I later found out I'd fallen for four seconds after the rope snapped: a distance of up to 40m. If I had been over land, I'd have been dead. Luckily, it had rained the day before, so the river was turbulent and full. The more than 100 feet of bungie cord still attached to her kept dragging her downriver until she managed to wedge her arm in some rocks. At one point, the cord snagged below me and I was trapped below the surface. As I was running out of air and my vision started to fade, I managed to dive back down, grab the rope and pull it free. Eventually I managed to wedge my arm between two slimy rocks near the side of the river. All I thought about was clinging on. By the time she was rescued and taken to a hospital, more than 6 hours had passed. Other than bruising and a collapse lung, she had no other major injuries. Around 50,000 people jump from that spot every year, so it was pure chance that the rope snapped on me – just wear and tear. They've now introduced measures to ensure it doesn't happen again. Yeah, I think I might still skip the jump and enjoy the view with my feet planted on solid ground! HERE: https://notthebee.com/article/how-have-i-never-seen-this-terrifying-bungie-jump1 point

No (the site employs dynamic module import, "import()", very unlikely to be implemented in UXP platform any time soon ) ... ... Of course it does! https://caniuse.com/es6-module-dynamic-import1 point

Yeah, then the amount of JS exploded and we are where we are. That Nextcloud JS is quite banal, I asked on PM forum, basically: class p { bus; constructor(e) { "function" == typeof e.getVersion && l()(e.getVersion()) ? c()(e.getVersion()) !== c()(this.getVersion()) && d.warn("Proxying an event bus of version " + e.getVersion() + " with " + this.getVersion()) : d.warn("Proxying an event bus with an unknown or invalid version"), (this.bus = e); } getVersion() { return "3.0.2"; } subscribe(e, t) { this.bus.subscribe(e, t); } unsubscribe(e, t) { this.bus.unsubscribe(e, t); } emit(e, t) { this.bus.emit(e, t); } } Remove bus outside of constructor because it's already defined in the constructor: class p { constructor(e) { "function" == typeof e.getVersion && l()(e.getVersion()) ? c()(e.getVersion()) !== c()(this.getVersion()) && d.warn("Proxying an event bus of version " + e.getVersion() + " with " + this.getVersion()) : d.warn("Proxying an event bus with an unknown or invalid version"), (this.bus = e); } getVersion() { return "3.0.2"; } subscribe(e, t) { this.bus.subscribe(e, t); } unsubscribe(e, t) { this.bus.unsubscribe(e, t); } emit(e, t) { this.bus.emit(e, t); } } So for this one: class m { handlers = new Map(); getVersion() { return "3.0.2"; } subscribe(e, t) { this.handlers.set(e, (this.handlers.get(e) || []).concat(t)); } unsubscribe(e, t) { this.handlers.set( e, (this.handlers.get(e) || []).filter((e) => e != t) ); } emit(e, t) { (this.handlers.get(e) || []).forEach((e) => { try { e(t); } catch (e) { d.error("could not invoke event listener", e); } }); } } I think you have to do it like so, put handlers definition in a constructor: class m { constructor() { this.handlers = new Map(); } getVersion() { return "3.0.2"; } subscribe(s, e) { this.handlers.set(s, (this.handlers.get(s) || []).concat(e)); } unsubscribe(s, e) { this.handlers.set( s, (this.handlers.get(s) || []).filter((s) => s != e) ); } emit(s, e) { (this.handlers.get(s) || []).forEach((s) => { try { s(e); } catch (s) { d.error("could not invoke event listener", s); } }); } } But sure, Pale Moon is bad since it doesn't follow standards. At least that's what they think. Obviously, in this case, developer really doesn't have it any easier because mainstream Chromium/Firefox allows declaration/definition outside of constructor.1 point

Another shameless self-promotion. If you're going to do this "all the time", why not make a download available? Google has NO INTEREST in reverse-engineering "your work".1 point
