"I am developing another mypal upon the firefox quantum 68-78, recently i have finished studying mozilla rust language and found that it is no problem to use rust to build for winxp." Very interesting indeed! Please keep us posted as I will likely not see the updates unless somebody posts info here at MSFN.3 points

Yes... at any time a BSOD can come, but there is no possibility of restart. That's why it is necessary to be maximally active every day, especially for the others! So keep an eye on it, because you don't know the day or the hour.3 points

Well said! (BTW, one might point out that the (actual) left wing has plenty of problems with Google too.) But let me take (slight) issue with the following, as I think it leads to some interesting discussion: I think the problem there is the implication that a Webmaster must take special effort to keep their Web site compatible with older browsers. But that's not correct. Browsers are computer software, not mechanical devices; they don't just "wear out" and stop working without maintenance! All you have to do to keep a Web site compatible with older browsers is nothing! And the best part is, newer browsers will still work with the site too! That's exactly what I'd expect a "lazy" Webmaster to do! Instead, someone has to take special effort to change a Web site in order to make it incompatible with older browsers. But why would a Webmaster do such a thing, even if the "cost" is only a few dozen users out of thousands? (Seriously, I doubt BitChute gets millions, but the point remains.) I think that usually, they don't! Instead, they lease time/storage from a server farm (at AWS?) that just installs all the latest "upgrades" for them as they come out. Of course those "upgrades" intentionally break compatibility with older browsers, forcing their visitors to either upgrade too (possibly to a new Windows version) or stop visiting - but like the old Grecian Formula 16 hair dye, it's so gradual the Webmasters don't even notice it! Right! Except it's not really a conspiracy - a secret agreement to do something illegal - so much as companies each acting in their own self-interest; i.e., to make as much money as possible. But even without any explicit agreements, it has the same result: the whole industry keeps us on the update treadmill, buying new, more powerful computers not to do more, but merely to run the latest bloatware that spends the majority of our PC's CPU cycles trying to convince us to part with our hard-earned dollars.3 points

Download speed is definitely the issue. My Win10 laptop at idle shows ONE "app" (Task Manager so that I can count processes for sake of this post), SEVEN "background processes", and TWENTY FIVE "windows processes". VERY efficient and heavily tweaked and optimized. But it still doesn't come close to the efficiency of a tweaked-and-optimized WinXP.2 points

Do not worry, my windows is not cluttered, I have a very good control of exactly what is running on my machine, Even when I had to use Win10, after a few weeks of work I was able to make it run smoothly without a SSD, and had less than 50 running services. Also my computer is quite clean and I tried from two different computers. The problem probably comes from the speed of my internet connection that rarely goes above 30KB/s on good days, today is mostly 10KB/s, or maybe my internet provider is playing me tricks.2 points

Thank you very much...and really, the craziness in the world is everywhere with this story of vax always rebonding from our governments that have been "elected".... I live my life as normal as ever as if none of this crazy stuff happened. For me too, the computer is a wonderful window to the world...to the freedom. I never look at the TV, I never read the press, so advertising of any kind has no effect on me. As long as I can, I don't go to the doctor. I live healthy, eat healthy, take vitamins, so I feel fine. I'm trying not to stumble, you have to be careful with everything...such times.2 points

Yes, I take life day-by-day and try to concentrate on the here-and-now; Today! This very second that will pass by and I can never get back. The past is gone, its over, and the future hasn't happened yet, so why waste a moment on worry. I like you description of the the human BSOD with no restart. That resonated with me today, so today I will remember that and try not to let the madness and insanity of the world bring me down. I enjoy playing games and watching movies so much - My computer is the 'air I breathe' and my outlet to the outside world.2 points

I have my reasons and to delineate them is useless. We must all decide for ourselves as to what works for us. What works for me will not work for you. What works for you will not work for me - and this is a thousand times true as I've seen the types of "test cases" you present over and over and over and I've seen the type of extensions that you deem "must have" that you couldn't pay me to use. We all have our own end-in-mind and there will be "overlaps" here and there, but no two people in a billion will share the same "exact" idea of the "perfect web browser profile".2 points

Aye, still plenty of other ways to suffer and die. We're incredibly fragile. Don't get me started on old age... You can't afford to get sick these days, seems CV is the only thing hospitals here still do. Not sure what to think of the Omicron. First they were saying it's less dangerous than Delta, now they're not so sure. So far, I seem to be avoiding successfully (or maybe I've already unknowingly recovered from it ). Perks of being asocial. I still have to go to work though, where the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. There was one coworker (he's a programmer) who wore mask ALL THE TIME, even outside with nobody around. Getting a shot apparently helped him relax. Most of the company stares at the screens all day, there's less of it in the production department. This December has less of a holiday feel to it, the town where I live doesn't have Christmas decorations. I came across the stalls yesterday selling ornaments and similar stuff, fenced on all sides, single entry on one side, single exit on another, guards on both sides, the one on entry checking RVT condition. Still feeling like a criminal!2 points

I am not a fan of defragging! I've not defragged a hard drive since the days of Win2000. And it's not about SSD versus HDD and it's not about read/write life cycles, I simply do not degrag. Ever. Operating System efficiency is more about keeping the registry from "mangling". The only way to do that is to not install 1000 different pieces of software only to uninstall 998 of them. Only to repeat that two months later, install 1000, uninstall 998. Rinse. Repeat. That's what VM's are for Doesn't matter how often you "clean" the registry, the only true way to stay truly optimized is to reformat and reinstall. I reinstall all of my computers at least once a year. Not because they've become slow, I keep 'em running like well-oiled machines, I keep 'em purring like a kitten. But nothing, no matter how hard you try, nothing is faster and more optimized than a freshly installed operating system. And the absolute WORST thing you can do is to allow your operating system to "fix itself" -- you want it to STAY optimized, then disable automatic defrag, disable indexing service, disable system restore, disable .net "optimization service", disable automatic updates, et cetera. Guess it depends on how your biology takes it. At least with the current situation, depending on the circumstances, you could die from either. The whole thing put a lot of pressure on hospital workers. I haven't checked the stats recently, but some time ago, our country was the top in death rate per certain amount of population due to virus. Feels surreal, why us in particular? Over a month ago, a young 20-year-old woman died due to Janssen vaccine, which they've stopped using since. She merely wanted peace due to pressure of requiring RVT condition everywhere and constant testing gets tiring. Statistical anomaly perhaps, but it doesn't do you any good if you end up being the one and you don't exactly have a death wish. They don't have anything in place to verify it'll work on you as intended. Ever wonder how things would look like without computers?1 point

This is so well noted, @XPerceniol ... I live Today, too! Yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today, let us begin. This quote from Mother Teresa is packed full of truth. It is not complicated. It hits the nail on the head when it comes to making the most of every day. Together let’s look in detail at what exactly was Mother Teresa saying. Here: https://keepthinkingbig.com/yesterday-is-gone/ -Very interesting. "Seize the day today!" - "forgetting the past, looking ahead and moving on in life", "Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift." - these reflections are from here: https://henryquote.blogspot.com/2021/08/22-past-present-future-bible-quotes.html These links I've found thanks to swisscows.com search engine. Yeah, my criticism of electric cars doesn't mean I endorse fossil fuels, either. We need fewer cars, in general, period. I'm more into classic cars, just because I hate all the newer ones, and obviously classic cars are pretty much all gasoline powered, not electric powered. Also plan to move to a rural area, where having one would be more of a necessity. That said, I think the focus on shifting to electric cars is definitely misguided. We need to reduce cars, starting from 3-car families where kids drive to school, to 2-car families, to 1-car families, maybe even less in urban areas. That is real change that would help the earth, not people switching from one toxic technology to the next. Electric cars are about $$$$, not the earth.1 point

And nobody seems to care how it will affect battery lifespan here to use EV. Now everyone say things like "don't listen radio" and "don't use heater" to make EV acceptable in their mind. So we need to go back to bad old days when cars did not have heater and needed to have thick winter jacket and gloves in car just not to freeze alive in your cockpit? During emergencies I do not want my car and engine run using same energy. If I am out of fuel I still got lights, hazard signal and heater. When EV runs out of "fuel" you got nothing. Also what is trend on having million displays in car and not having normal gauges? Those are distraction in my opinion. I want simple gauges back. I am not saying that there cant be any screen as option but not as mandatory. Also I prefer install my own phone car kit and not have some vendor thing locked into brand new BT enabled phones with manufacture program installed. And some may not have wireless phone to car or want one that is permanently installed to car by themselves. This is gauge cluster that got all information you need on driving and is clear enough (from saab) https://www.rbmsaabparts.com/rbm_images/produits/greenlights2.jpg1 point

Even so , I still think the gaz cars need to be heavily limited . For example , we have loads of rich russian tourists driving huge expensive cars and polluting our climate . It's getting worse each year ! More and more russians driving their tanks. Even our local mafia (oops , did I just say mafia) has far less polluting cars. Like even mafia is living on the green side. Oh , and we don't have mafia , of course , it's just my fantasies)))))1 point

@soggi's post gives me a lot to think about. I certainly don't advocate "dumbing down" Web sites to the point that IE8 or Opera 12 can be again used! We have to find a middle ground somewhere. Generally, when a software developer (including Web site software) releases a new version, there are several kinds of changes that may be included: Security fixes and enhancements New functionality that makes the product (Web site in our specific case) noticeably better to the end user (e.g., much of HTML5) New functionality that's invisible to the end user. It's only the third category that's problematic. These improvements are the kind that can break compatibility with older browsers, OSes, etc. without any offsetting benefit to the users. For Web site software, improvements may offer benefits to the folks running the Web site, such as "improved" tracking that may increase ad revenue; or they may benefit Javascript programmers by providing features to simplify coding, or they may just be in there for "forced obsolescence" purposes. But in any case, they don't deliver a better experience to the end user; they only force potentially unwanted updates on him/her. Lately, my experience has been that most changes to Web pages are of the third kind. If you're using "modern" Chrome or Firefox, everything looks the same; but if you're using older browsers, one day things just break for no apparent reason. Those are the kinds of changes I'm saying developers should resist.1 point

@NotHereToPlayGames: First you say "the "internet"", but you're just talking about the WWW which is just a very little part of the Internet. Second the "Invision Community" provides the forums / bulletin software. MSFN, respectively it's owner, has to choose one of the forums / bulletin softwares which are available on the market (OSS, freeware or payware). The point is that for security reasons you have to choose a software which is currently in development. You don't want to have a software running on your server which has a lot of SQL/PHP/etc. security holes. The bad news is that support for older browsers is not integrated in the very most of these software projects. Now you can say "I want to have support for all browsers released since the early 90s!", but then you have to develop this software by your own...have fun! If you want to have a website which is compatible with very old browsers, then you have to go with HTML4 only (like my website), but this is not today's technology, obviously. And my website is hand-coded, completely...have fun again (thousands of hours, maybe ten thousands)! Don't get me wrong, I really like old-school websites (like my own), but you can't provide any additional functions (like forums / bulletins) in a secure way, if you aren't a very good PHP/JS developer with a lot of free-time. Soooo - at the very most you have to take what's on the market! kind regards soggi1 point

I'll disagree, even if only to play Devil's Advocate. I think the vast majority of the "internet" is basically like MSFN. And I scroll all the way to the bottom and I see this -- "© 2001 - 2021 MSFN" and "Powered by Invision Community". Does the "owner" of MSFN rewrite code for this web site with the intentions of making it "heavier" or to make it only work on "newer" computers? My answer is "heck no!". But said "owner" will perform scheduled "maintenance" only to let "Powered by Invision Community" add whatever THEY think should be added. Did the webmaster write code to prevent older computers from accessing the site? Or was the webmaster simply performing "lazy maintenance" and did whatever "Powered by Invision Community" told them to do in order to increment the "copyright date"? Granted, I've never "owned" a website. I just don't think that "webmasters" really do the bulk of the "code", I think they use "modules" written by large corporations and they update those "modules" under the guise of "security", "Powered by Invision Community" sends the webmaster an email, "Please update your module, the previous module is vulnerable to security attacks." And so the webmaster updates the "module". Just to be Devil's Advocate. I've never "owned" a website.1 point

Long time ago, my neighbours filed a lawsuit against me for their dog torn in pieces . It survived , but got pretty heavy damage . Has no leg , etc . I warned them before a million times , do not let the dog on my property . Strange people , really . Not to mention they like cemetery type of flowers . "The proliferation of the Asian hornet, or Vespa velutina, in France where it arrived a few years ago has become a cause for alarm. However, according to specialists, the hornet is rather shy and avoids humans. Not very aggressive, it is not considered a real danger despite some incidents. However, it becomes nervous when you approach its nest. The Asian hornet is smaller than the common hornet of our regions, or Vespa crabro, and "not more dangerous", explained Philippe Annoyer, head of the entomology collections of the Natural History Museum of Toulouse." - translated from "Figaro"... "Introduced to France in 2004 where it has spread rapidly. In 2016 the first UK sighting was confirmed in Gloucestershire." https://www.vespavelutina.co.uk/uploads/1/1/9/0/11907802/id_vespa_velutina__asian_hornet_final.pdf I have seen, that it is not dangerous at all for the man, even friendly! This is crazy, look at that: https://youtu.be/8qynY8BFw341 point

These temps are OK for most lizards , I think . The room temps are just fine . What I meant you can't go over 28 degress (celsius) It's the absolute max. BTW , my room temp is 18 at max. , lol . I keep "hot" spots for the lizard all over the house, though . Not all exotic animals , I used to have parrots and they are absolutely fine with low temps, if there's no direct wind . They just eat much more , lol. In case you didn't know , we don't consider them exotic in Holland.1 point

So there was topic on https://www.win-raid.com that was named XP/W2k3 x86 on Modern Hardware. It contained a lot of NEW and useful information including such new things like modification XP SP3 to work with AVX\AVX2. I don't follow that topic often, but recently it was bulldozed. Not even closed, but just deleted. So many knowledge was striken down. Likely http://web.archive.org/ save a lot of this topic. But the most important thing is that topic restarted on other forum: https://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/17688-xpw2k3-x86-on-modern-hardware/ There on first page are links to downloadable archived version by user iyut. I do not know what happened that they just delete topic that users filled with useful information for years. But it is a vandalism to delete such a database! Lucky they moved to wincert and didn't let topic died and lost. I hope local admins on wincert will threat this topic and efforts of XP users with more respect then win-raid admins did.1 point

Yup, this is why real environmentalists don't support electric cars: https://www.protectthackerpass.org/update-from-peehee-muhuh-thacker-pass/ "Green" technologies are not "good" for the environment. The earth does not "want" electric cars. Nor does it want dams or solar panels. One destructive technology to the next is not "green".1 point
