  1. Past hour
  2. @dimo70 You can't disable defender while the system is still running, it does protect it self.
  3. windows wise even in user mode it use that overlappended structure (and this one has 32 bit dwords (high and low part) what result in a 64 bit address room) - drives make a good example why the 4 GB address room limit was already passed , because drives passed the 32 bit limit far ealier here comes the "pipe" question - a pipe simple says "do move me 4 gb 10 times" - pipe defined and thats not even what is happening for the hardware it cant move 4 gb so fast the hardware then it limited to like 10 mb/s (and actually need even far smaller pipes)
  4. Sorry for my English, I didn't understand To summarize, NoDarkTooltips and value 1, we have the default tooltip font in explorer, but the tooltips (design) in the systray are in "dark" mode, so to speak Without NoDarkTooltips, we have the tooltips in the sytray by default but the font of the explorer tooltips are darker As indicated the screens above We found it odd not being able to have systray tooltips and explorer tooltip font by default of Windows 11 But if SAB can't do otherwise, it doesn't matter
  5. Today,is a public holiday in Italy. I decided to pay online the stamp duty (an annual ownership tax + payment fee) of my car. On line the payment fee is lower. I start the procedure with my browser. 2 consecutive SPID (at the second level of three levels) logins: https://www.spid.gov.it/en/ that need to be validated by a security app in my smartphone. Then the payment with credit card (my wife's) which has to be validated with a specific app installed in my wife's smartphone. But the notification does not come....... I have to wait at least 30' and an approval email to try my luck again. I retry.....at the end I find out that the payment fee has increased to 1.5 euros compared to 1 month ago which was 0.95 euros. How sad. I regret a simple life without all these unnecessary complications.
  6. Many thanks for taking this "upstream" ; indeed, I now fully recollect that martok was/is responsible for creating that pref and the underlying code that is behind it (UXP #2030) ; actually, I had that pref toggled (to false) in my St52 "dirty" profile, but not in my "minimal" NM28 profile... Toggling that pref was necessary for me (in St52) for GitHub's "sake"; prior to Dec 2023, when a GH repo was being displayed in "Commit List View" (e.g. like that), a button is provided to the right of each commit entry to easily copy (with one click) the commit's HASH: Read more in a now closed Palefill issue ... However, after the mid-December 2023 "massacre" , GitHub have replaced their previous code (in many places, including the "Commit List View" mode) with "legacy-web-engines-excluding", "heavily-CPU+GPU+RAM-taxing" ReactJS scripts and, under the new status quo, toggling the referenced pref is no longer required for GH's re-iteration of the "Copy-SHA-button" ...
  7. Bingo! I'd say "open source" but that seems to be a rib-jab of late, so "why bother", lol.
  8. I already have! Most of the methods used in 360Chrome carry over. I am not the end-user and I do not have GitHub account for discussing on GitHub. The Official UNGOOGLED patches can be found here - https://github.com/ungoogled-software/ungoogled-chromium/blob/master/patches/series
  9. Today
  10. None of these frequently discussed (on MSFN) Chromium clones are worth losing a sleep over. Most of their code is copy-paste off Chromium, they don't have their own legs to stand on, without Google LLC, they are nothing. I can relate. I think I should be making better use of my time here. How, I haven't a clue.
  11. If I'm not mistaken, someone here still tries to tell it's all open source, so no problem to apply the ungoogled patches yourself, what stops you?
  12. Thorium surely does add tracking parameters to your search. &newwindow=1&sca_upv=1&hl=en#ip=1 What's this "ip=1", especially interesting. Looks very much like a command to record/collect your IP adddress.
  13. excuse me, everybody, if I might appear to be like a stick in the mud, but would anyone explain to me what is wrong with having only the following list of registry occurrences of defend (which means windefend, windows defender, windowsdefender, etc.) and no file or folder occurrence on disk? below is a text file listing all I have found in my registry concerning windows defender. no coming back, no rebutting in in normal everyday operations. never have I had to disable anything, never mind control it, at least this is what I see. am I missing anything? Advanced Registry Search.txt
  14. ... IIANM , the last (stable) version of Mozilla Firefox that has "official" native support for Windows 7 SP1 (both 32 & 64-bit) is the ESR channel of v115, currently at version 115.10.0 ... ... Release channel Fx-115.0 does indeed lack that fix, however that's NOT the case for the ESR channel of 115 (patched version was 115.2.1): https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/advisories/mfsa2023-40/
  15. Omg! No wonder Windows 11 is the way it is!!
  16. No they still can't figure out which team fixes compat.
  17. JFX, ill make an repack exe from your codes using advancedrun.exe, and try to stop windows defender in win11 latest version. After starting it and restarting the PC, only upper option of defender was started, and all 3 other options of defender was stopped sucsessfully. May be we needs something little more to stop it completely.
  18. It's one of the reasons I only run UNGOOGLED variations of Chrome-based browsers.
  19. Does this mean Microsoft is allowing SAB on 24H2 now?
  20. Could you please give me a hint how to obtain it? I found only full Windows 3.1 SDK, but it doesn't seem to have VfW. Thanks, I took a look. But alas, it’s not there either (or it’s just me that didn’t dig too thoroughly).
  21. Great, I'm going to find my USB Floppy and SD Cards reader, then I should probably reproduce it my main machine. I will probably just suppress that error, because issue is caused by something else - Not used drives are mounted, but doesnt contains real disk physically connected IOCTL_DISK_GET_DRIVE_LAYOUT_EX, thats probably due that mechanism, because they are another part of HW where you connect another one too. Will see what can I do. I will check also mentioned SSE if it's possible.
  22. I think you must exclude volumes with a size of 0. Regards
  23. Thorium on 32-bit mobile single core. A bit misleading, feels slower. Kafan Minibrowser, same HW. Much faster IRL; faith in benchmarks & numbers in general lost.
  24. Predictable, playing with local sharks is dangerous, and not surprising, considering the fact you lost to @D.Draker.
  25. Yes, I can confirm that the disk 1 is the Ricoh SD/MMC Disk Device: ID of the Ricoh SD/MMC Host Controller : PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0843&SUBSYS_1521103C&REV_14\4&3A88E1E&0&32F0 Regards
  26. Supermium testing versions on github are free to use. https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/releases Those that are on patreon are paid. Promised better support and updates. I don't know which exactly are used by that guy.
  27. Disallow UDP connections. It doesn't need them. Lookups can be done via https. Precise explanations. https://www.digitalcitizen.life/dns-over-https-secure-dns-lookups/
