  1. So I found a nasty Dark Magic edge case when taking ownership of a file. This doesn't happen when Dark Magic is disabled. I've tested this in Directory Opus. When the error is dismissed Directory Opus is left in a completely frozen state and needs to be killed. This also happens with Explorer which also causes a freeze which requires an Explorer restart.
  2. Looks like mica acrylic to me, do you have Dark Magic on? There have been some changes recently with that. Edit:
  3. Wow, maybe they aren't removing the code? I'm wondering if it's still there because they just can't remove it due to some sort of old Vista spaghetti code keeping it hidden there. Hence the feature flag to break it and not just stripping it out like they did with the system tray. There must be something that will break if they remove it otherwise it would have been gone already OR they realize that their most dedicated users still like it and it's not harming anything so they are throwing us a bone. One of the two. It probably doesn't help that there's yet another new person in charge of Windows and Surface. If they'd just add small taskbar buttons and provide some API to allow for overlays on the taskbar so apps like Traffic Monitor and NetWorx work correctly and don't have icons overlap them I'd use the Win 11 taskbar. If it is removed maybe it's a possibility to mod the new taskbar and make it better instead of a full rewrite if a full rewrite is even possible given the complexity.
  4. 26090 is out with no watermark. Anyone running it with SAB... how is the taskbar looking?
  5. I'm not 100% certain but I think the consensus is Insider builds are not supported. If this is happening in stable I'd be more concerned. Given that the legacy taskbar is likely going to be removed from 24H2 I imagine @Tihiy is busy looking for a stable solution going forward. I think we're pretty lucky it's working at all in Canary right now.
  6. Glad this forum isn't dead and it was just a datacenter outage. Glad to be back. I may go and donate a few bucks to MSFN now....
  7. Eventually it's just gonna be gone I fear. Hopefully by then @Tihiy has a solution. Fortunately we have until the fall before 24H2 is broadly deployed.
  8. That is by design, SAB hooks into explorer and stores its settings where Windows natively would. I wouldn't transfer these settings between PCs, it'll likely lead to bad registry pointers but you'd have to research where Windows would store these registry values. In other words, take screenshots and redo is the safest way. You can export HKCU\Software\StartisBack for some of the settings safely though.
  9. The glowing can be shut off in the settings app. Edit: I may be wrong, this may only work for the Win 11 taskbar. If so, sorry! Edit 1: To not double post, the flashing drives me nuts and this setting does work with SAB. @Ten2O let me know if this helps you prevent your burn in. You may need to reboot or restart explorer after changing this setting.
  10. Out of curiosity and just for my own peace of mind do you plan on removing taskbar functionality from StartAllBack when the classic taskbar code is unworkable or do you think you'll be able to do something like you did with the system tray (which is better than ever now!). Either way you are a brilliant engineer and I really thank you for all you do to make Windows better!
  11. Don't use the Windows 8 theme then.... you are causing your own problem and complaining to us. Use the default theme, set taskbar to clear, opacity to 0 and you will see nothing when hidden. Otherwise burn baby burn.... 🪩 Maybe be a little more respectful to the developer as well, being nice gets you further.
  12. Let's just hope Tihiy can reimplement the taskbar like he did with the system tray. One could hope....
  13. Ah, makes sense. Hopefully @Tihiy can save us or at least decrapify the Win 11 taskbar. 🙏 Maybe 24H2 will bring us StartAllBack+....
