My Browser Builds (Part 5)
NotHereToPlayGames replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
I'm 99% sure that he DOES understand. And I agree with roytam. He is here to support his brower variants. He is not here to support extensions. His browsers are NOT 'technically' *modern*. Removing ID checking would open up a whole can of worms where the "userbase" would ASSUME that *modern* extensions are supposed to "work". Roytam's browsers are only 80% modern. Sure, we could debate if that is actually 80% or 90% or 98%. But the reality is that they are NOT 100%! Why in Hades would roytam open his browsers up to an onslaught of support enquiries asking why a thousand extensions do not work because they rely on the 20% (or 10% or 2%) that his browsers simply cannot "do"? - Today

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
Goodwin replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
you didn't understand me. The point is not to add anything to the extension manifest. You need to change it in the browsers themselves so that there is simply no checking. This will only make it easier for many users to install extensions. And the fact that most extensions do not work due to code incompatibility is a completely different question. For example, I already gave an example of https://realityripple.com/Software/XUL/deCDN/ which is not installed in basilisk. -

Here's what can I tell. Win32 used to make great software. Vista Extended Kernel was great, Supermium is great. He was an msfn member, but because of fame (lots of people asking if something works in his/her setup), he might be tired of msfn. Second System might be great, but I don't have money right now to test it. Since he used to be msfn member, I think his software can be shared. What I don't like is that he actually does not update frecquently his website or blog, BlackWingCat used to speak some things about his adventures extending Win2K. My suggestion for him would be to drop WinVista ExKernel users (so second system would work on Vanilla only), make a free version with less frecquent updates, and create paid beta channel updated more frecquently.

I see map nicely here in Serpent 52.9 and can navigate it too (+/-/set start/finish). -
I tested the latest 146.0a1 Nightly and FF itself does launch using the modifications bymjd79 on the previous page but it is unable to load any website. Maybe some problem with the patched GetProcessAffinityMask function. The latest ESR 140.4.0 still works however.

roytam1 replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
removing ID checking doesn't make things not intend to work on other platforms becoming work in sudden, and extensions needs coding to have proper integration to platforms they intend to support. if there is extension is not working, you may need to add code to make it work, and adding target platform ID in its manifest file. -

I'm failing to see why "win32" has ANYTHING to do with the recent discussion. I could care less "who" he is and whether or not his content has been deleted or not! Why? Because "win32" is *NOT* the person who started this tread! An active member since 2021 started this thread and that member, as you rightly point out, CAN post links to programs that he follows. NO DIFFERENT than those security products. The difference, as I am seeing it, is the "personality conflict" between the members doing the "liking" and the "arguing". What we have here is nothing more than "I like that member, he CAN post links. I do not like that member, he can NOT post links." Sorry, but that IS the bottom line from a "third party perspective". We have LEMMINGS on MSFN and we ALL know who they are, we know who they "like" and who they do not "like". It really is that simple.- 32 replies

Intentionally or not, you're missing the point. Members that made contributions to MSFN can post such links. Win32 sneakily deleted everything he had, therefore him and his horde of commercial bots have no contributions to MSFN. I was given a very harsh treatment (can't say what exactly, since it's forbidden to discuss moderation), and all of that was just for posting a text that reminded a commercial, "enterprise" wording! I gave NO links at all!!!! And the product I described was 15 or 20 y.o.! Out of production! So? Any comments?

I would submit that non-free products that are not being hosted on MSFN is an aspect of other threads also, not just this thread. ie, what about this thread? https://msfn.org/board/topic/184730-antimalware-firewall-and-other-security-programs-for-windows-xp-working-in-2023-and-hopefully-beyond/ I didn't look for more, that's just a popular thread that comes to mind. It does cite non-free products. ie, C = Commercial (any payment software including shareware) And even provides non-MSFN links on where to download these non-member non-free products. ie, https://msfn.org/board/topic/184730-antimalware-firewall-and-other-security-programs-for-windows-xp-working-in-2023-and-hopefully-beyond/page/7/#comment-1244949 And we all know you've seen those threads. You sign on each and every day to hunt down half a dozen posts by that (and a couple others) MSFN Members (often times from YEARS AGO), and submit your daily limit of "likes". But hey, "it's not against the rules". So "keep up the good work". You cannot have it both ways. If the thread we are in now is in some sort of "violation", then so is that security program thread. Think about it. You really cannot have it both ways.- 32 replies

We are being solicited to pay for something which isn't even hosted on MSFN! It's not only dangerous, it's also disrespectful to the members, not to mention the complete lack of tech. support! Files at MSFN are scanned. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186670-profile-picture-is-too-small-3kb/?do=findComment&comment=1278625 By downloading from where no one knows, you'll infect your PC, or get a tracking bug.

Firefox 48.0.2 / Firefox 45.9.x ESR on Windows XP RTM (and older OSes?)
jumper replied to Uncle Captain's topic in Windows XP
GetNumaHighestNodeNumber is just the tip of the iceberg. If Kernel32.dll doesn't have GetNumaHighestNodeNumber, the OS doesn't support NUMA. A GetNumaHighestNodeNumber replacement stub should SetLastError(120) and return FALSE. -
I could solve the problem myself. If fortidrv.sys 5.4.1. is exchanged with 4.3.5 in winnt/system32/drivers, and then the service scheduler.exe is manually started by modifying registry, there is no problem with forticlient 5.4.1 on w2k exkernel. Window will stop at 98% connecting, but this is because of comctl32, it connects with success and any browser will show the results, but the best is Mypal 74.1.2. Big thanks to @blackwingcat for extended kernel!!!!!!!!!!!! Greetings from Austria, Joe

For me it usually happens after waking up my monitors from sleep (on home machine this causes the primary monitor to connect back – when it goes to sleep, it disconnects from the PC, as if it was physically disconnected; on my work machine I'm not sure, it also seems to sometimes happen after waking up monitors from sleep, but none of those disconnect; installing the test version linked above immediately triggered the problem on both computers). Both of my computers have 3 monitors, with centre being primary. Both are also set up with high contrast mode and use high DPI (one has all 3 monitors at 225%, the other one at 168%). Sometimes the taskbar stops hiding on only one secondary monitor, but most often it stops hiding on both; also, sometimes when this happens, the taskbar becomes completely transparent, except for text and icons (it still receives mouse clicks in this state). The problem started with October update, and persists with KB5067036 (26200.7019). Disabling and re-enabling auto-hide makes the problem go away for a while.

I don't usually use private browsing window. So I can't say anything about that. "Warning unresponsive script...": Does the page load when you press the continue button repeatedly? If so, then perhaps it indicates that the machine is just slow with the known bloated youtube pages. Do you have any add-ons that could effect this? Test with a fresh profile. I guess it isn't a ME/98 specific problem.

It happens both on reboot or upon changing projection settings (Win + P) from "Second screen only" to "Extend". In my case I have a 3440x1440 primary + 1920x1080 secondary setup and it generally doesn't happen on my primary IIRC, but it happens almost always on the secondary and I have to right click -> go to SAB settings and toggle autohide off and on and then it's fixed until the next reboot/projection setting change. Is there any kind of logging/dumps I/we can send your way to potentially debug this?
-
No idea, unfortunately. Any triggers?
-
Any ideas why taskbars on secondary monitors aren't hiding with recent updates installed? (the above version doesn't fix this problem)

Yes, I am! I like Extended Kernel because it solved shut down issue with my SP3, the image of which I've downloaded from http://ximonite.com/sp3/! Also, using Windows Version Spoofing as described in the guide below, I was able to install Windows 7 compatible YouTube Downloading Software and able to download videos from YouTube! -
