360 Extreme Explorer Modified Version

@msfntor : The good news (be it OT here) is that
https://www.darkreading.com/
does load in latest Serpent 52 :thumbup , however the font they're using does not render well:

The solution is to block "remote fonts" in uBO:

Back on topic, as much as you (or @XPerceniol for that matter) are enamoured with your DCBrowser ;) , the hard fact remains it (the last XP-compatible version) is based on Chromium 75, whereas all the 360EEv13.x varieties are based on Chromium 86; mind you, "86" is now considered quite "old", too, with Google Chrome being at version 109 (and higher versions even dropping support for Win7SP1 :( ) ...

I can easily replicate your issue with 360EEv12 (Chromium 78 based):

Javascript Console error is enlightening: Syntax error is generated because the site (rather a framework the site depends upon) requires support for "?.", the optional chaining operator, first implemented in Chromium 80 (hence why 360EEv13 works ;) ); sadly, operators can't be polyfilled (only transpiled, but at a very steep cost to performance :(); nothing that would help your very aged JS engine of DCBrowser, am afraid...

In the future, it'b be best to accept that webpage rendering issues in DC are due to it being obsolete when it faces the web of 2023+; make provisions to migrate to something newer (browser, OS, whatever...); this is a hard reality the majority of us face currently... :(

Bon après-midi :) ...

Thank you VistaLover for your wise explanation with the interesting details... I do as you say: I accept without blinking an eye that DCB won't make this site for me - it's their loss.
I can get the bad fonts like in your first screenshot when I disable uBlock. But with uBlock enabled, the fonts are as in your second screenshot, whether I have fonts enabled or disabled.
To make it easier on the eyes, I use the Owl addon (Owl - Dark Background by tk) v2.2.8 in Basilisk Moebius, which darkens the background.
And I confirm that 360EEv12 (based on Chromium 78) won't let you render this site, but that's okay with me - I just use it sometimes for testing...

Requires Win7 x64.  Sends data to x.ss2.us and packages.axiacoin.com.  "Axia Member Center" seems a bit untrustworthy, though I have no real "proof".  Not a fan of built-in VPN's (too many folks "abuse" them!)  Based on Chromium v107.

I seem to have a problem opening MEGA.IO using version 13. After keying in email and password, while the progress indicator is loading the page the browser will crash.

MEGA will not work on a browser that old. I just tried with Chrome 102 and it works, 102 would be a bare minimum for such modern websites.

NO SCROLLING on DCBrowser on this page: https://community.brave.com/t/frames-dropped-on-youtube-with-amd-i-finally-found-the-fix/392810

But OK. on 360Chrome 13.5...

I see I see my browser is NOT modern... website says: "Unfortunately, your browser is unsupported. Please switch to a supported browser to view rich content, log in and reply."

DCBrowser is also giving me trouble as of late. Again, could not like or upvote today for some reason.

DCBrowser link to Chrome Web Store from Extensions/each extension/Details/View in Chrome Web Store - leads to the Chinese version of the Chrome Web Store... if this has already been mentioned (and answered) here, please accept my apologies...

  • 3 weeks later...

Writing this message as a communication of gratitude for the efforts of @Humming Owl, @NotHereToPlayGames and everyone else who has made it possible for people to use modern, XP-compatible browsers with as much telemetry scrubbed out as possible.
After some experimentation, I have once again gone back to XP...I was experimenting with 7 and 10, and while I have no complaints with regards to how that testing has turned out, I've come to find that Mini Browser is working VERY well for me.

With 360, I've noticed an interesting quirk: when you download a file and attempt to overwrite an existing file, it doesn't simply overwrite the file but creates another one with a number on the end. I've never found a solution to that rather strange quirk with any 360 version (if anyone has one, I thank you very much in advance if you're willing to share it). However, Mini Browser doesn't have an issue with that; in fact, it is very similar to the modern Chromium versions I was testing in 7/10. It uses a lot of CPU/RAM compared to all the other XP browsers I've tried, but Chromium 87 in XP is something to be grateful for.

To this very day, most sites still seem to work fine with Mini Browser, though I know that's going to change as time goes on. Everything that is truly essential for me still works right now. For now, I'm going to try and keep an eye on any advancements that are hopefully made in the future with browsing options for XP. It seems to be a dire situation right now, but I still have hope good things will happen.

I am prepared and willing to move to 7/10 in the future...I'm not looking ahead with any disappointment. I know I'll have to retire XP for good one day...it will someday be a 'hobbyist' OS, much as the 9x series is now, if it gets to a point where no browser is equipped to handle the modern Internet anymore. When that day comes, I'm willing to make the switch. May this OS live as long as it possibly can!

I thought ALL web browsers did the auto-rename when you download the same file over and over.

Even older versions of Firefox do this auto-rename.  But not if you right-click and select save-as.
