Here are the updates that require SSE2: KB4343674, KB4458000, KB4462987, KB4473077, KB4487085-v2, KB4489977, KB4490385, KB4493793, KB4493794, KB4493795, KB4493796, KB4493797, KB4494528, KB4495022.

Updates not requiring SSE2, replaced by updates requiring SSE2: KB4087398, KB4463361.

Well I guess that's it. The last time running Windows XP Update on my dual Pentium Pro system. All updates excluding the SSE2 ones listed above installed without incident. It's been a great ride guys

That is too awful that the reason of  XP shows "Application Exit by CTRL+C"  when embedded Windows XP update is applied,  (Japanese blog).

Of course KB4493563 is also broken.

Hi, I'm a newbie who's confused.  What is this issue about and should I worry about it?  I use English XP but have other languages installed.

I'm holding KB4494528, KB4493563, KB4501226 because of reported issues.  What should I do with them & how do I install them?

After installing the KB4494528 update, run the following command: regsvr32 MSI.DLL.
Update KB4493563, I do not know if there are any problems.
Update KB4501226 posted by chance, because support for XP has ended, and this update is not related to security. Therefore, it was removed, but there are no problems after its installation.

medowe: This means that non-english versions of ntdll.dll may generate wrong error messages on error because some messages are shifted by 1 in the resource part. Language packs are not affected.

Microsoft is still patching XP/ WES / POSReady 2009 x86 and they are releasing updates on Microsoft Updates. Links are then shared with companies that are paying for the premium support 15k bucks per year. For instance, the navy said that they kept buying the premium support because they do have machines running XP and that 15k was less than what they spend for toilet paper on all their facilities. Other governments and private companies bought the premium support as well. Unfortunately, those updates are not indexed on the catalogue and we don't even know which KB number they are gonna get, so we can't access them, however if we knew about the number, downloading them would be as easy as manually writing down the link to Microsoft Updates / name of the sub folder which is named after the month and the year / KB with the code of the KB.

I still hope that a hero will pop out and tell us the name of the KBs, just the names, and save us all.

I have no idea, but I think they'll probably use an FTP or Aspera or something like CloudConnect and so on. Like, professional file exchanging platforms. Anyway, that's just my assumption.

I did a clean install of Windows XP, I have removed all the updates mentioned by ED_Sln, I'm not on a SSE2 CPU.

Updates not requiring SSE2, replaced by updates requiring SSE2: KB4087398, KB4463361. Is it safe to install these from the update catalog?

I didn't see any KB4487085-v2 update, only KB4487085, didn't install it, does it work without SSE2?

KB4493563 mentioned in another post, is this safe?

Updates KB4087398 and KB4463361 can be installed, they do not require SSE2. The KB4487085-v2 update in the catalog is called KB4487085, but the downloaded files are called KB4487085-v2. Update KB4493563 does not seem to require SSE2.

So there’s a POSready 2009 update that seems to break Windows Installer entirely on EN XP SP3 Pro x86, more than likely a patch released after January 2019

I’m not sure which one but this may be worth mentioning

About this previously written several times in this thread. Blame update KB4494528, corrected by executing the command "regsvr32 MSI.DLL".

It is actually shameful that MS has not published the failed update KB4494528 again. So what I just call a big botch, since actually in the installer file "update_SP3QFE.inf" only a correction must be made!
