you mean 2003 R2? or maybe Vista CTP Builds are the newest? just kidding... oh yeah why wait Micros*** Oops i mean Microsoft do this? if you want it you can do it yourself , remember the canceled SP5 for win2k? or maybe delay for winxp SP3? dont lend it on M$ and that's why this community made and some sad news for me, i had to switch into win2k cause i use my pc for software development (i need the stability but i want a faster than xp) and goodbye for nostalgic games like c&c,sims,etc (since win2k have issue on virtual memory lack on games) oh yeah win98 is the 1st operating system i'm own (even the manual book is in my bookshelf)

just dig out on www.computing.net and you will find a DOS version that i had talk, this version support long file name (LFN), mp3 player, avi/xvid/divx player, dos shell, dos manager (ados?) and the best is native support for win 3.x (as a original m$dos 7.x can't support win 3.x without hack)

for some compability i sad have to say win9x is not the best to support compability on new hardware (remember restart each time you attach a new hardware?) and no default usb support (you can download a native usb driver) but for software, maybe tihiy win98rev pack maybe can be a quick solution, its support software compability layer (win9x,winme,win2k and even winxp support) and also a built in kernelxp

use Opera since Opera 5.x and didn't want to change to other browser espicially IE (dunno with IE7 doesn't try yet) for me Firefox is just like Opera 6 or maybe Opera 7 (sorry for Fox user, Opera have more feature than a default Fox: security,browser identify changer,voice,mouse gesture,integrate mail client,rss reader,chat room,trash bin,integrate download/transfer windows,theming,and more...)

whoa you dont know how to make animated signature? gee where you got that avatar (sorry) use image ready (gif/swf) or flash/director (swf) if you use image ready, you must have some basic knowledge in photoshop, just explore a bit and you got it PS:check out my avatar, that's made with image ready

msvcp60.dll is included in vbruntime6sp3 up if i'm not mistaken

for me i ussualy : 1. find the switch 2. make silent,switchless installer using winrar sfx module 3. make a program entries (ENTRIES_PROGRAMNAME.INI) 4. make cab file using tugzip

nope, win9x/me line is based on DOS (DOS Based Kernel) and it lack most feature like true security and a big cluster they have in Fat16/32 but for some reason i disagree if it only was DOS extender, if it was win98 will be the best DOS extender at all (remember we have good old days with win98 before win2k and xp arrive) and windows ME is the worst at the line, its want to mimic win2k but it only hide the "dos" deep (no realtime dos support on winme)

this is only a tip isnt? btw maybe lots of people prefer to use M$-DOS than any other dos version, i use M$-DOS 7.1 power pack (ngee whatever its named) that contain mp3 player,mpg/avi/divx/xvid player,dos shell,etc with windows 98SE on top (just before i switch to Win2k)

some enchancement method : 1. duplicate current layer 2. use gaussian blur to the top duplicated layer (use 2-5) 3. set layer to lighten or maybe you want to use smooth tool

oh yeah what windows version do you use? winxp? win2k? win98? that will help a lot i think anyway allmost all thing in GUI are in shell32.dll file

edit explorer to make it less ram consuming maybe sound crazy cause even M$ can't did it the better way is only use alternate shell that use less ram, for me i ussualy use Aston (www.astonshell.com)cause it can run even on i486dx pc with only 8mb ram

is possible to change target for startmenu item? i mean something like when we click shutdown button it open other program (exp:notepad), this maybe sound crazy but i think it possible cause i have see shutdown dialog in win98 revolution is another file called shutdown.exe that available from the pack itself. pics : how can win98 get this new shutdown if the start menu item (the shutdown) not modified?
