  1. With 2 GB of RAM you'll need a rloew patch from this thread: http://www.msfn.org/board/RAM-Limitation-Patch-t107342.html (this will cost you 20 bucks).
  2. MDGx, in my case it's not possible to install 98SE2ME because I've a Polish version of Win98SE. Could you give me a complete list of the Internet connection related files which I can replace by those from WinME CD?
  3. Sorry, but you've put incorrect information in another thread: according to this table Windows 2000 will be support till 2010: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/sea...Filter=FilterNO Windows XP even much longer: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/sea...Filter=FilterNO
  4. Not exactly, judging by this table: http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/sea...Filter=FilterNO
  5. I'm on the cable connection: I have 10 Mbit download between 2 am and 10 am and for the rest of the day 6 Mbit and it works very good. Upload is much smaller (only 512 kbit) but very stable (at least in my case). Btw, TCP Optimizer is a great tool IMO.
  6. Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1 (beta) - http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=205650 VLC 0.9.0 (nightly) - http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/latest/ (funny that this version works in my language, 0.8.6c not. Btw, you need copy unicows.dll to VLC directory) PC Wizard 2008.1.81 - excellent freeware diagnostic and benchmarking tool - http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php Java Runtime Environment Version 5.0 Update 14 - http://www.java.com/en/download/windows98m...st=www.java.com
  7. That was also a very nice surprise for me! Galahs, thank you warmly for excellent thread!
  8. Had you made a relevant research you would have learned that things look a bit different. In fact, each OS of the Win9x family includes three elements: normal Win32 plus Win16 (for compatiblity with Win3.x family) and yes! DOS (which is an essential part of those systems). A small question (to both of you): how is this possible that we (Win9x users) can run many of the modern software on that DOS+GUI (the last stand-alone version of MS-DOS was released in 1994)?
  9. Galahs, I'm using this combination (MPC+ffdshow) for years and hardly can imagine my PC without it. With ffdshow you don't need any codec packs. Btw, this is page of newer MPC on SourceForge: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=205650
  10. Tihiy, they simply don't want to make Win9x compatible version because users base of those systems is relatively small. But for me as the user of Firefox it's more interesting that such talented programmer like you thinks it could possible (not only theoretically but also practically).
  11. I don't know where you get that date from. Firefox 3 will be released by the end of this year or beginning of 2008. Mozilla supports the previous version for six months only.
  12. Honestly, I've never tried this program but looks like an interesting option: http://www.virtualbox.org/
  13. I'm very glad to see you ,Gape, and hear that you're going to continue your excellent work. Like Tihy I prefer good, old SP.
  14. It could be a trouble (I'm also a owner of the ATI card). Interesting that this is not a problem on the Nvidia cards. I guess the only idea is modified in some way drivers for Windows XP/2000 (I've searched for the newer drivers too).
  15. For seeing multisession DVD under Win98SE I'm using utility called IsoBuster.
  16. Looks like from this article that it's theoretically possible but really difficult to run DirecX 10 on the Windows XP: http://www.beyond3d.com/content/articles/55 You may simply forget about Win98.
  17. Offler, one strange thing: on the page with the newest DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer (from the June) Win98 and Win98SE are listed as the supported systems (not Windows Me): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en But on the page with redistributable version, Win9x family like Windows 2000 isn't mentioned: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en
  18. EGOvoruhk, look at vbdasc post.
  19. Even I don't have a such graphic card, I've greatly appreciate your wonderful effort! Keep it up!
  20. He had some serious health problem and this is probably reason for the absence.
  21. As far I remember the right sequence is: first Win98 SE than Windows XP (probably this is reason for your trouble).
  22. This is indeed a great news! BenoitRen, big thanks for your try.
  23. Adobe Reader 6.0.6 update - multiple languages The Adobe Reader 6.0.6 update fixes a number of security vulnerabilities. Adobe recommends that all Adobe Reader 6.0.x users apply this update. Security Fixes in Reader 6.0.6 This patch release addresses several security vulnerabilities including a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Adobe Reader 6.0.5 and earlier versions that could allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary JavaScript into a browser session. Additional vulnerabilities have been identified in these versions of Reader that could allow an attacker who successfully exploits them to take control of the affected system. It is recommended that users update to the most current version of Adobe Reader available for their platform. Details of these vulnerabilities are provided in this security bulletin located here - http://www.adobe.com/go/apsb07-01 http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3579

    VOIP

I've just installed Skype 3.0.0.205 version(latest) over 3.0.0.190. No problems, working very good under Win98SE (I haven't tried a video conference).
  25. Offler, from this site: http://gabextreme.googlepages.com/x264vfwunited you can download standalone h264 codec. Btw, another useful site: http://www.videohelp.com/
