  1. I've tested a couple programs (like Firefox 3 beta 3, Media Player Classic, ffdshow) and I must say that I really like this new version. Xeno, Tihiy - this is an awesome piece of work guys! Btw, after installing KernelEx some of my programs (for example Media Player Classic, PowerStrip) gave me oleaut32.dll error (it disappeared after couple of clicks) but as I presume, this is something specific for my configuration (no such error without KernelEx).
  2. Chozo4, I know this is a common mistake but there's a subtle difference between extensions and plugins. Btw, when I've tested one of the first versions of Firefox 3 (with KernelEx) the Nightly Tester Tools wasn't able to help me with incompatible extensions.
  3. I've uninstalled my previous version of FF but uninstaller keeps plugins - you don't need install them again (at least that was in my case).
  4. Here you have link to the localized versions for Windows/Linux/Mac: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/fir...ozilla1.8-l10n/
  5. I've installed localized (polish) version of 2.0.0.22pre and no problems so far. In fact, IMHO, this version is faster than last official version! Btw, I like that new icon too.
  6. This is interesting - I've thought that Mozilla stopped releasing Firefox versions from 2.x family. Thank you for the info - I'll check 2.0.0.22 pre soon. Btw, BenoitRen is correct - SeaMonkey and Thunderbird using the same version of Gecko engine as Firefox 2.
  7. Sorry, but I must disappoint you - H.264 is nowadays most demanding video codec and most probably this is the reason of your problem (I've 2 GHz CPU and I don't have it ).
  8. TruePurple, what is your hardware spec (CPU, RAM, GPU, etc.) Could you be more specific about that/those video/videos? What codec it/they use, what is video format (if you don't know try GSpot or MediaInfo). Do you have similar problem/s with other videos/clips? Btw, RealPlayer is a real junk - I recommend you uninstalling it.
  9. TruePurple, what media player you're using for watching those videos?
  10. Drugwash, this is indeed strange but looks like it's possible to install the latest version of Shockwave on Win98SE (for Firefox/SeaMonkey but not IE). On the other hand it doesn't work on the Adobe test page (listed as enable in about:plugins).
  11. You can tweak system settings using freeware Cacheman 5.50, available from here: http://www.outertech.com/index.php?_charis...roduct&id=2
  12. Cannie, hopefully, situation is not that bad - you can still download them from Microsoft site: WMP9 (for Win98/ME, 2000): http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/b...299/MPSetup.exe WM9Codecs: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en Windows Media Video 9 VCM (if you need this): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en I hope this will help you. Btw, this program looks interesting with exception of Real Player requirement (I really dislike that player but maybe Real Alternative it's enough?).
  13. From my side, I can say only, that I've tested (shortly) the latest build (1301) of Foxit 3.0 and looks like that it works normally under Win98 SE. My default PDF reader is Acrobat 6.0.6.
  14. Yes, looks like there's problem with revisions 2352 and 2347 but you can safely install 2322 (which I'm using): http://downloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow-t...mp;big_mirror=0 Btw, I'll ask clsid, if he could release once a while, a compatible version of ffdshow (MPC too).
  15. This is a fine tool! It could be localized? Tihiy, I wish you all the best in 2009!
  16. You must stick with Firefox 2, Opera, SeaMonkey 1.1x (not SeaMonkey 2 alfa because it required KernelEx) or some other browsers.
  17. Yes, I've upgraded automatically Firefox to the newest version. The lack of anti-phishing isn't a problem: I'm using NoScript.
  18. OK, Drugwash, thank you for the info.
  19. Sorry, I've made mistake: Java 6 update 6 is the last version you can run on Win9x (they modified installer of update 7). You can get it from here: http://java.sun.com/products/archive/ or http://www.oldapps.com/java.htm As to the speed: on Windows XP, Java 6 should be faster than Java 5 but I'm not sure it will happen on Win98/ME too.
  20. I'm not sure but quite possible that they have extended period of the support. As to the your second question: that was some sort of exaggeration from my side - of course you can install Java 5 on Windows XP/2000 but Java 6 is optimized for the newer OSes (as you know Win9x isn't supported). From tests which I've seen, Java 6 is quite significantly faster but personally I prefer to stick with older, recently updated version (until we resolved problem with Java 6 installer).
  21. I think, that Sun will be updating Java 5 because it reached EOL on October 2009: http://java.sun.com/products/archive/eol.policy.html Yes, Java 5 is for Win98/ME and Java 6 for Windows 2000 and above. Java 6 update 7 is the last version you can install on Win9x (they have changed/modified installer since update 10). Btw, cannie, you have complete changelog here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/ReleaseNotes.html
  22. Guys, I want to inform you, that Java JRE 6 update 11 was released (maybe they fixed installer).
  23. I think, that instead of creating new thread, the better idea was putting this valuable information in the KernelEx thread - I'm pretty sure that Xeno and Tihiy would be grateful for that.
  24. This is not true: you can run Win98/ME at PC with 1 or even 2 GBs of RAM. As the graphics cards with 512 MB of memory: sorry, but those older systems are not a platform for the modern games (you've Vista/XP). Quite possible that this issue could be resolved too (I don't know solution).
