  1. Anyone have tried the newest JRE 6 update 10? Personally, I prefer using latest version of Java 5 family.
  2. Tihiy, you've made that once again! Some new version of KernelEx will be introduced?
  3. Because most of the members of our forum using Win98 SE it will be ten. Btw, except Vista, all versions of Windows are old and very old - I do not count Windows 2003 and 64-bit version of Windows XP.
  4. As I see you're using the same argument again: This is just perfect example of the FUD. I recommend you to use own advice:
  5. Beats, looks like that you haven't read carefully enough article which you've linked. Please, stop posting that nonsense because that's not true (Win32 API has been fully implemented in those systems). Were it so, that wouldn't be possible to install on Win98/ME DirectX 9, NET Framework 2.0, WMP 9.0 and many other programs. Btw, we don't need on our forum Windows NT crusaders.
  6. Version 0.9.2 was released and is incompatible with Win9x. It's possible to install it but when you're trying to run it, you get a message about missing exports with one of the libraries. Version 0.8.6i works without any problem (at least on my computer). Btw, one more thing:
  7. Simply using just 2 GB of RAM or contact with patch creator and informed him about problem (maybe he can resolve that issue).
  8. They're not big: you can install one of them (or both) without plugins, extra tools, etc.
  9. BenoitRen, I must say honestly, that in some way you're a bit irritating. From http://www.litepc.com/ieradicator.html: "IEradicator is a tiny, script that uses the Windows setup engine to surgically remove Internet Explorer versions 3 through 6.0 from Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium and Windows 2000(sr1). If you are one of the 70+% for which IE is the browser that floats your boat you can reinstall the version you prefer. If not, then you can bask in the inner glow of knowing you just secured your PC from all known and unknown, past and future, IE security bugs while claiming back 30+MB of closet space. Isn't it nice to have the choice? The removal process is elegant with all COM servers politely being asked to de-register themselves from the system registry using their inbuilt deinstallation routines before being eliminated from the hard disk. IEradicator then pulls out the cleaning gear and gives the registry a good polish before returning control back to you. The MS HTML Engine (shdocvw.dll and mshtml.dll) is left on the machine to provide needed functionality for other applications that render HMTL (e.g. Outlook Express) or that launch a mini-browsing window (e.g. Winamp's Mini Browser, Netmeeting's Online Directory). IEradicator now contains two versions. One version keeps all the web view shell integration intact, and the other takes all of that out for a lean and fast desktop environment. If you are hard-core, you can rid yourself of IE altogether using our great 98lite Professional."
  10. Two popular programs: Irfanview from here: http://www.irfanview.com or Xnview from there: http://www.xnview.com. Btw, yesterday was released a newer version of Irfanview (4.20) and Xnview is a program created by the French programmer.
  11. Sorry, but I don't know what you talking about. Here is the link to the Firefox 2.0.0.15: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html For running Firefox 3.0 on Win98/ME check this thread (especially last pages): http://www.msfn.org/board/KernelEx-v034-released-t71476.html
  12. Yes, officialy FF 3.0 doesn't work with Win98/ME but if you install KernelEx you can run it.
  13. BenoitRen, sorry but you must simply accept fact that even on this forum Win95 users are in minority.
  14. I've got a similar message but when I've replaced msimg32.dll with the version from Windows ME CD it didn't appear again.
  15. You know, my argument about OS age isn't that weak as you think. Win95 is really an old system (despite that you're using the latest version of it) and base of users must be very small. This is of course important factor for the software creator/s. As for the WDM: as for as I know Win95 do not support any version of WDM drivers and that's OS limitation (you can't install DirectX 9.0 too)! I presume that he dropped support for Win95 in 1.7x version probably because some function of the program aren't supported by OS.
  16. Tihiy, you're f***ing amazing ( I hope you find that as the compliement)!! We can wait for the newer version of the KernelEx because the Firefox 3.0 will be released most probably in June (I don't know in which half). Btw, even I'm a bit old-fashioned to the GUI look, I must that say that this screenshot looks really nice (through your improvements).
  17. I'm using for that Firefox extension called DownloadHelper. You can find it here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006
  18. BenoitRen, I know that you're fan of Win95 but you're using OS which was released 11 years ago (Win95 OSR 2.5). As the limitation, WDM drivers aren't supported. Of course there's more but I'm sure that you know that perfectly.
  19. Open Office 2.xx works without problem under Win98. I've seen a stupid proposal to remove support for Win98/ME in Open Office 3.0 but as far as I know beta version could be run on those older systems too. As for Real Player: I do not recommend using it - it's one of the crappiest players ever!
  20. This is a really great news, Tihiy (except that minor problems with FF RC1). I'm very glad to hear that you're working together. I'm pretty sure that cooperation of such talented people like you and Xeno will be great for our community!
  21. Tihiy, what is the eventual reason/s for cancelling this project? Xeno86 doesn't update his KernelEx regulary.
  22. Looks like that you haven't read yet this thread : http://www.msfn.org/board/UberKern-t115731.html
  23. I've checked for curiosity both clips - no problem for VLC Player 0.8.6f and MPC 6.4.9.1. The reason for which you can't playing them is simple: WMP v9 (VC-1 Simple/Main) codec is required - info from GSpot.
  24. I recommend you install just ffdshow (important part of K-Lite codec pack) instead of it . You'll find newest versions here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941 Latest versions of MPC here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=205650
  25. Great! Thank you very much, Tihiy, for the update!
