  1. The only thing to say is that's an amazing coincidence!
  2. I think, this is the right table: http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/...b/cs-008326.htm
  3. Shaddam, there is something I don't understand. If this technology (Cool'n'Quiet) is enabled it automatically reduces CPU clock to 800 MHz from 1,8 GHz as in your case. (if you haven't overclocked it). It has to cause a significant drop of power consumption and therefore of temperature as well. Have you enabled this function on Power Option in Control Panel (in automatic mode)?
  4. Tihiy, you're right! Shaddam, have you ever tried this software? Judging by this article - http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/128 you can enable Cool'n'Quiet technology on Win98SE (look at third screenshoot!). Btw, I know excellent tool made by Russian programmers called RMClock Utility: http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml Unfortunately, this program requires at least Windows 2000 (the only chance to run it under Win98SE would be a kernel update which is done by Xeno86.
  5. Today, Cyberlink released a new version and this is a nice surprise that they still support older systems (OS: Windows MCE, XP, 2000, ME) Btw, it's my favourite DVD player.
  6. Erpdude8, you can update AR to 6.05 version (security fixes). Btw,Petr, this is funny trick.
  7. Petr, thank you for the answer. Tihiy, from where can I get those Unicode libraries?
  8. Tihiy, this a great news that we can run Windows NT native applications on Win9x but question is how much better is Acrobat 7 than 6 version?
  9. Very good and funny comment, atomizer. Thanks to Link21 this thread becomes more and more amusing. Although I'm rather quiet and peaceful I feel sometimes like saying: Link21, have you ever thought about replacing your brain with a good quality one instead of using the piece of junk which you have?
  10. Krick, chipset Uli M1695 IMO is more interesting than nForce 3 because you'll have support for all AMD 939 processors (including Athlon 64 X2) AGP+PCI Express and possible upgrade to M2 socket. It's a pity that only one company (ASRock) uses this chipset.General problem, not connected with the chipset, is lack of support for PCI Express graphic card on Win9x family. The newest M1697 chipset also supports Win98/ME but it's PCIe only (no AGP port).
  11. Petr, thank you for the answer unfortunately for me you're right.
  12. My question is a very simple one: can PCIe graphic card (6600GT) work under Win98SE?. The motheboard maker (ASRock) states it should work but I have a problem. At the NVidia Windows 9x/ME drivers page the support for the GeForce 6 series GPUs is clearly specified for PCI Express and AGP version. Hovewer, during the driver's standard installation a message appears that this card is not supported by the driver. After manual driver installation the OS stop shortly after the Windows logo shows up. I would be grateful for any tip. Config: 939Dual-SATA2, Athlon64 3200+, GEIL 512MB PC400 CL2,5, Galaxy 6600GT, ULi Integrated Driver 2.13, ForceWare 81.98.
  13. Petr, I wonder if it isn't the power of your PSU (you haven't given a full description of your setup: CPU, GPU, amount of RAM). Btw, it's not the best idea to put together HDD and DVD drive in one channel, because the HDD will have to adjust to the speed of the slower drive. It would be better to set Toshiba DVD as slave with Plextor burner.
  14. Maybe this is explanation: ( from webpage which you mentioned - http://www.playtool.com/pages/agpcompat/agp.html) One practical matter which must be considered is the fact that some of the original AGP 1.0 motherboards do not provide enough power to operate some newer AGP video cards reliably. For example, some of the original motherboards using the first chipsets which supported AGP (like the Intel 440LX and 440BX) can become unstable if you install video cards which draw lots of power through the AGP slot. The motherboards can't always supply the necessary current for the newer video cards. So if you're adding a video card to an AGP 1.0 motherboard then it's a good idea to install a video card which doesn't consume very much power. You can also occasionally get memory resource conflicts by installing a new AGP video card into an old AGP 1.0 motherboard. The video card will work properly until you install the display driver. Once you try to install the driver, a memory conflict shows up. The range of conflicting addresses varies from case to case. This problem is very unusual and when it happens it is rarely possible to fix it. I'm not sure exactly what causes the problem but apparently the motherboard and the video card are incompatible in some way which prevents Windows from properly assigning memory addresses to the video card. In the cases I've seen, there doesn't seem to be any way to predict from the video card chipset and motherboard chipset whether there will be a problem. Sometimes a particular video card chipset and motherboard chipset get along well and other times they don't. I'd guess that it's some kind of incompatibility caused by an outdated motherboard BIOS and possibly the video card BIOS. The one thing you can try is to flash your motherboard with the most recent BIOS. But since it's an old motherboard, the manufacturer will most likely not have anything but old BIOSes available. If you're running Windows 95, 98, or ME, it may be possible to manually assign addresses and get it to work but I've seen people try this and the process is about as enjoyable as a root canal and usually fails to fully solve the problem anyway. If you're running Windows 2000 or XP then it's probably impossible to fix because the newer versions of Windows almost always prevent you from manually assigning addresses, IRQs, etc. That's almost always true even if you select the standard PC HAL while installing Windows with the hope that it will allow you to assign resources manually. If you run into one of these memory resource conflicts then you should probably give up and try a different video card. It's rarely fixable.
  15. This is really strange guys because Everest Ultimate 2.20 works without any problems on my PC (Win98SE+ SP2.02 including also DirectX 9.0c, IE 6.0, WMP 9.0). Btw, IMO this is one of the best diagnostic tools.
  16. Azagahl, thanks for the info.
  17. MDGx, can I install your SP on my Polish Win98 SE? Any risk involved? If the only problem is to have the OS mixing two languages, I don't mind. Thanks in advance.
  18. Does anybody know why there is a problem with seeing more than the first session under Total Commander or Windows Explorer? Is it due to limitations of the OS or to a driver/drivers problem? I have found so far only an indirect solution: program called IsoBuster which shows more sessions without any problem (I'm using Nero 6 edition with Toshiba SD-R5372 burner).
  19. It's a great news Pablo! I'll be waiting eagerly for the Polish version!
