  1. And, suddenly, all kind of s**tstorms in popular polish web journals comments ain't so bad now. Of course, they are moderated, but it's ages beyond what's stated above.
  2. Most probably I know the comic from other MSFN topic, but sorry for OT, had to repost that: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/printers Edit: No, ot was some Superuser forum topic, but doesn't matter...
  3. QPhotoRec executable offers some sort of GUI, although I only opened it and don't know if and when it will kick my face with pure CMD
  4. And yet when I told to use different pendrive (to do not overwride deleted files) it appeared to have backup of the files :> Not to waste your time I plugged in the guilty pendrive and run Photorec. For reasons yet unknown to no one, including me, I ran command line version. I managed to recover ~590 MB of files, which had pretty random file names, but quick search using Windows Explorer tools have shown that I have recovered at least 3 of 3 files i needed. Yay! Thanks for the tool, it will come in handy later for sure. When it comes to DMDE, it's not its time... I'll get back to it when I'll run into trouble or decide to get geekier just this day and this way.
  5. Looked thru topics in here but none seemed to contain easy-to-apply solution, so posting. Just an hour ago one of my relatives deleted 3 rather important files from pendrive. The Device is one of the 2 GB craps they share here and there for advertising purposes, and it's like 8 years old stuff, ~600Mb of free space. Files to recover are measured in kilobytes. 'Deleter' was told to stop using pendrive just after the accident so these should be able to recover. I looked thru different reviews of free/shardeware/trial/will-install-you-tons-of-crapware recovery programs, downloaded one that seemed to be safe and tried my best. It has shown list of deleted files properly, but recovery returned only garbage files (they were saved to HDD JFYI). I have DMDE I have downloaded some time ago, but certainly I'm to lame to do the right thing within a reasonable time. Also, pendrive is used for sharing personal data and there is no way I will publicly share it's image. If someone can recommend some free software that contains no crapware and will do its job, I'll be pleased. Musn't be freeware in fact, 10-minutes trial should be enough. If this requires more work with low-level tools, I'm willing to cooperate.
  6. Crappy, outdated drivers from ~2013? Just a guess, but this happened to my Motherboard, Ethernet drivers after 3rd birthday to a new MB, no Win10 installator, set of new ones on producers website...
  7. And of course, regular, 6-string guitars are just too shameful for trve player
  8. So sad I can't code In C/C++/Java, or any other language, in which mobile apps are written. Have pack of ideas of things, that are way too useless or retarded for me to use them at least once. Bot the Idea of mobile development is to create something totally awkward and different from other products available. No matter how useless, people will use it. Hey, because it's new and trendy!
  9. Well, Thanks! I had issues with WU on XP and, suddenly, after taking Avast down for a second everything works!
  10. Ok. Here we have an old and, for some people cult Polish blues band. Nothing interesting if you'd ask me. But once they had teamed up with Mira, polish singer, and have created and album together, where between typical blues songs one can find this masterpiece of progressive rockin'. Must-listen for die-hard fans of Purples, Floyds, Zeppelins etc.
  11. New updates, something to worry about? Or is this madness gone for good?
  12. You speak as if Apple were ever known for making their devices DYI freindly Well I can imagine one carrying his Dumb Fridge to some cellphone repair spot to get it's Andie fixed or some hardware replaced
  13. Rather 'your fridge was compromised, due to Android updates support lifecycle ~half a year after release of a device'.
  14. Well, let's stick with this and: Well, you mean from a flash drive to HDD or from HDD to flash? What if you copy the same files from External HDD to flash or from flash to flash? I think it might be simple way to find out if it is problem with internal HDD (hardware, drivers, whateva...) or something more general. What d'ya'all say? I know there is a SMART, but smart can lie...
  15. Well, might be due to that I don't open sites in Hindi or any other India language :>
  16. Bring'em here. I Ain't use Flash, Reader, Java, Silverlight or any of somewhen necessary plug-ins for 4 months, and only real change were some blocked commercials. Especially Reader. Can't remind any site that required it thru my entire life.
  17. Real question is "any of you, XP guys, have Adobe Reader Pro?". If the answer is not, why do you bother using this overweighted cow, known for security flaws? I did replace AR with Sumatra Reader on all my machines (XP or not)- faster, useful, well designed with no unnecessary craps. And it has no (literally - no) EULA, so most probably free for use in any environment.
  18. @Dave-HStill can download your files using webpage. Just reminding :>
  19. Auch! Try using Autoruns to find what starts with the system and might cause problem. Remember to make a backup before modifying any value! I'm wondering if there is any FRST magician on the board to help you view the system logs.
  20. As above - you need only anti-malware (real time, scanning, signature-based scanning + some heuristics) or some well-suited security suite? Oh, and OS you use might be important. Protection at all cost or something lightweight for old PC? if only AV, Avira might be the choice. New versions has some modern idiotic design implemented like only online installer, some retarded launcher forced to users etc. It also spins up on-demand scanner slowly if you need to scan some downloads or pendrive. In case of detection rate, it's on top or near top of AV-comparatives charts for at least two years, and it has decent UI. If ISS, I recommend Comodo. AV engine is not it's strongest point, but it's HIPS and firewall modules are really useful. Note it needs a bit of play with configuration and aware user to respond to pop-ups, but might be worth it. And it has quite-secure virtual desktop too, maybe not a full VM, but has it uses. And AV only can be replaced by something with better detection... like Avira. Additionally Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit and you are pretty well bunkered :>
  21. This! and if you highlight the part of a text, 'Quote this' pop up appear anywhere you move, no matter that you are reading totally different post. Might have been useful, but it appears in such inconvenient place, that it can only make furious people with stupid addiction to highlight text being read... like me.
  22. Still one can find sources that require titles capitals written in the same manner as normal phrases: http://www.sisef.it/iforest/users/?id=authors Know that it is lead by Italian organization, not English native speakers... But soon I find something with higher impact, and the same capitalization rule http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/00344257. So maybe let's look for something really worthy, like Nature: http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v536/n7614/index.html So the rule ain't the rule at all... or it does not apply to scientific article titles, which would seem to be quite absurd language exception. And actually using capitals in titles same way as in normal text seems to be much easier...
  23. Really, got to the end? I appreciate your persistence
  24. Far past time, but I'm afraid there is no simple way to hide updates. Look Here. As if the couldn't add some /hide switch to Wusa... Personally I did try to automatize it using Powershell script and some community-provided modules on Win 7 pro 64 bit, but soon decided I'll do it faster by hand. PS under 7 has no Cmdlets for managing updates, and the ones found in the internet were far from being perfect.
  25. Well, had played tons of games with no ending or simple high score or "congratulations" screen. And I'm not a plot tourist - played hundreds of games, and in most cases, I found plot to be a crap (even in titles commonly praised for good story). Yet if speaking of really, really bad ending, that was so bad that it drilled thru my mind, I must place 'Vivisector - Beast Within' on the top place. Simple shooter whit wanna-be philosophical plot, that I didn't care about, but during outro they got to so high level of abstraction and absurd, that made me thinking how dumb can one get when trying to get clever (or at least look like he is).
