Hey Dibya. How are you able to get LTSC 2019? I know that one needs five corporate licences. I'm happily running Windows 8, and still can for a year pretty much, but I have to start thinking of what to do next. I hate to concede to Windows 10, but LTSC 2019 might be an option, and it's supported until the end of the decade.

How do you figure? Do you see Mozilla having cut support for XP and Vista back in 2018 to be a serious downfall for that company? I really didn't see that sort of impact to be honest. The next ESR is 115, due in July. I'd prefer the ESR, since you can count on that browser version for a year, without major feature changes.

Of course, you might be better to just just use Server 2012 R2 updates on Windows 8.1, after January. Server 2012 R2 updates will be supplied until October 2023, and then you'll be in the same boat on either OS

My girlfriend has a Dell Inspiron 3580 notebook PC. It came preinstalled with Build 1909. Before I attempted fixing the machine, it was running REALLY Slow and I think she was running 21H2 or something. We tried upgrading to Windows 11. Still slow - big mistake. So using the maintenance partition, I reset it back to the factory installed 1909 Home Edition. It ran much MUCH faster. I let the system upgrade to 20H2, and it slowed right down. I would like to rollback to 1909, and have it stop there. I would just install the remaining updates that came with 1909, and halt any further updates. But is there any way to accomplish this on Home Edition? I know that I can delay the update, but the Group Policy options are not available in Home Edition.

In Interlink, or MailNews, is anyone else having difficulty inserting a horizontal line? Usually, I go to Alt-I, then click "Insert Horizontal Line", but now nothing is shown. It's just blank after insertion? Has anyone else experienced this?

Do you mean like a MEGA update repository like what @greenhillmaniac made? That was because updates for Windows 8 disappeared after January 2016. From what I gather, for the same thing to be available for Windows 8.1 after January 2023, you would need to use updates fro Server 2012 R2 until October. After that, I also gather that obtain ESU updates from Server 2012 and 2012 R2 wuld be illegal if we weren't paying the support fees. I guess there's 0-Patch

For now, I've decided to stick with Firefox ESR 102. My interest in MyPal 68 wasn't to run it with XP. I simply wanted a Quantum era browser that worked with Windows 8, prior to the Proton UI changes in v91. I was also hoping for an x64 build, but for now I've stuck with Firefox ESR. The progress you guys have made seems amazing though.

This isn't my question. However, I've been getting DM'd on this and I simply can't help the person. So instead, I'll post the person's questions here. If they wish to reveal their identity, they can do so on their own accord. I tried using windows update, but it scans too many updates, I think there must be a superseded update. But I can't find out. In less than four years (2012-2016), Windows 8 has scanned more updates than Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, This is not normal. So I want you to provide updates before 2016. (I wasn't able to do this for him) I integrated all updates into x64 install.wim, file size 6GB+, it's too large. ... The same way integrated into win7 x64 install.wim only 4GB+, win8.1 5GB+ Hi, Jody Thornton. I have a new question. I downloaded the latest wsusscn2.cab and used the Windows update mini tool to scan out about 100 updates in offline mode. But online mode scans out over 200 updates. Why does this problem occur? Do I trust the wsusscn2.can database or the online Windows Update? Although I believe more in online windows update. But I prefer less updates. So it's contradictory. But how are the ESU updates legally obtained? Are they on the Microsoft Catalog site?

This is not something I've paid a lot of attention to on Windows 7 and Server 2008 product lines. My understanding though is that Server 2012 is eligible for ESU patches until October 2026. With such updates, I could continue patching Windows 8 for quite a foreseeable period of time. Has anyone used ESU updates on the other OS releases that I've mentioned? How are they being obtained?

Unlike what greenhillmaniac does, I simply install the monthly security only updates and NEVER the rollup. This is because I skipped the March 2018 which contained slower microcode for Spectre and Meltdown. Also, I skipped June, July and August 2021 updates which removed the integrated Flash component. I use Flash to run locally installed flash games like Yeti Sports, but i never use Flash online. Works great for me, but I maintained my own local repository of these updates from the Microsoft catalog. Likely I'll never fresh install Windows 8 again. After October 2023, or a few more months beyond, I'll hopefully be able to migrate to an iPad Pro for most things. With a stand and Bluetooth keyboard, it can serve as a make shift workstation, plus iOS can do way more than before, so hopefully it will evolve even further. Windows 10 or 11 is not a consideration for me, but Q4OS could be a next step, if I dare stick with a workstation. .

Hmmm, I was able to get uBlock Origin working, even with my custom filters. Now I am testing it on Windows 8. I wonder if there's a caveat there. I have another extension, RSSPreview, that does not work though.

Can this actually be useful for web browsing and updated tasks?

I hope not, because I want a Quantum release. My hope is that he settles on 78 max and then makes an x64 version. I run 91 now, but I prefer Quantum to Proton

See, what I’m hoping for is a working browser that is still built on Quantum and Photon. I guess that would mean building on ESR 78 or even release 89. After that was the Proton UI with floating tabs. Now many of you are using UXP builds of Serpent and New Moon, and MyPal 68 is still way more compatible than that. Doesn’t ESR 68 still provide a good deal of compatibility? Can user agents still help?

I was wondering if we were going to have a thread dedicated to this subject. I'm not suggesting that I be the one to start it, especially since my use for it isn't XP-specific. But I've been longing for a Quantum browser based on ESR 60 with backported updates to use, even on Windows 8. Well, with the steeper requirements that Web Components seems to bring to the need for modern browsers, I guess v68 is as good a base to work from as any. I'm very excited about the project, and I was hoping that a dedicated thread following its progress be in place here,

Well I'm on Windows 8 (yup the original release), and all new applications still work with it. So I can't see a need yet for an 8xtended Kernel
