  1. so cheeky!
  2. yes no problem when it comes to activate it 'might' ask you to phone ms, if it does, just tell them you're reinstalling, it probably won't ask though
  3. i'd just use pidgin instead of the whole vmware
  4. They're updated again http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=264678 32bit http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=264680 64bit Haven't tested any of them yet, hopefully this will resolve the 64bit mkv issues in media centre 64
  5. this is something ms should really have done imo
  6. it's not been said directly in the thread yet so i'll add it.. to use 4gb or more of ram, you need 64bit
  7. i don't see the point in this Vista SP1 is essentially the same as Server 2008 When people gave 2003 media centre i could see why -2003 has a newer kernal than xp sp2
  8. also after trying what jcarle suggested, wrap it in cling film, then leave it in a freezer for about ten hours, then try again -if this works, copy off as fast as you can as it probably will die after it's started working again (can you even hear it spin up?)
  9. old thread alert!
  10. Nice reply. like i didnt think of that myself. :/ as you may have guessed the bloody thing isnt out untill march no need to re-invent the wheel, just find the wheel
  11. for anyone else that comes across this, testdisk can do a 100% recovery in about 10 seconds if you do this.. as long as you don't write any more to the drive
  12. does the drive show up in disk management start, run diskmgmt.msc press enter
  13. yup integrate the ryanvm pack with nlite, let it run thorugh (only select hotfix integration), then start up nlite again (ryanvm adds a few languages, so have to run nlite twice to pick them up)
  14. easier to get a hold of a Vista with SP1 included disc
  15. just run it yourself and test it in Virtualbox
  16. plenty of people on ocuk have got the 2140's at 3.2ghz with the stock cooler
  17. thanks guys will give this a run through over the weekend
  18. like nuhi and cluberti said there's no point in doing this, it'd be a nightmare to track the current and unforeseeable dependancies starting at a new base of sp1 is the only viable option
  19. you get one with every xp install it's illegal to mess with that, it's to do with the use of minlogon also
  20. yes if u look at the feature! Tihiy's point was that with an eeepc, you've only got 2-4gb of hard drive space so having .net framework on there is a bit mental
  21. i understand that, just thought i'd pop that in there because the changes they made haven't been explored much yet good luck finding your answer
  22. you can't ms will release updated images, i'm not sure how publically availiable they'll be
  23. i know ms have changed something to do with oem activations in sp1 final.. to stop that crack that a lot of people use
  24. i'd imagine its in the registry key that is used for media centre, i tweaked mine a while back to make the ffwd and rewind jumps 5mins and 1min respectively i'm at work now, so will hunt the link down for you later. or just google "media centre vista registry tweaks" most of the dword names were pretty self-explanitory
  25. rd /S /Q "C:\folder" that deletes them, the /S is for removing them even if they have data/subfolders in them this website is handy http://www.ss64.com/nt/index.html
