  1. no idea what could have happened, you could try a program like recuva to locate the deleted files
  2. Obviously there is SOME file copying if its moving files from the CD to an empty folder on your HDD. What's odd is that I can't find to location of the DLL files that went missing when nLite used C:WINDOWS as the source. nuhi will fix. nuhi will fix you just quoted what i wrote, then reworded it! (the only file copying you need to do is the xpdisc to a suitable folder, like C:\XPCD ) your install is probably screwed if you've messed with C:\Windows reinstall with your hp disc, and either get a clean xp disc, or just forget about nlite..
  3. you need to step back and re-read all the post in this thread mate nothing is broken for nuhi to 'fix', you've just tackled it from completly the wrong angle (i'm not trying to be mean to you here by the way) 'remastering' your windows cd as you put, sounds like you're trying to botch a hp disc into a windows one, you will fail at this everyone in this thread is trying to help
  4. lol attack & defend guys
  5. have you used it? welcome to the forums
  6. the desktop speed alone is worth it the benchmarking speeds probably aren't changed that much, but it's noticably faster imo
  7. create C:\xpcd use copy & paste to copy all content from xp cd (a 'clean' one -ie, not pre-nlited) to the folder run nlite
  8. if you enter an xp pro serial it'll skip the mce bit (cd2) nlite doesn't support removal of the mce bit (i don't think anyway)
  9. move the source to c:\xpcd , select the folder and properties, set as read-only, then un set it, now try with nlite (do it from an admin account, and turn off uac) that's overkill, but it might be one of them -ooh, and disable your antivirus & windows defender real-time scanning when doing it

    Integrating SP3

i don't touch beta service packs can't be bothered with the wasted time installing and removing them when a new one comes out, just wait for SP3 final/RTM, that will work perfectly
  11. yup, you'll need a clean xp disc (not a manufacturer one) nlite runs like a dream then, you get zero error messages or missing files as for the hotfixes, you can download ryanvm (google him) 's hotfix pack, it's a .7z file, you just select that as a hotfix in nlite and it'll be up to date then -bare in mind, xp sp3 is out very shortly, so i'd just use that there's no file copying needed by nlite, only the whole xpcd to a suitable folder, such as C:\XPCD as said above, we all start out somewhere , it's like driving a car, if you do it the wrong way you're heading for trouble
  12. 86%, it's 100 if i add a symbol nice site

    Is XP SP3 ready?

they should really add more sata & raid controller drivers to it, and freshen the basic sound/video drivers especially the realtek sound drivers, they're used on so many machines
  14. defender real-time scanning can't help vista's speed, disable that
  15. tbh, what do you expect on such a poor spec 512mb, celeron, 10gb recipe for disaster!
  16. it just uses it for decompressing addons etc (maybe cab's too) updating the version wouldn't change much mate it would have zero effect on your final install
  17. yup, sounds like unlucky timing, or another modification you may have done what else did you use? (addons?)
  18. Gets annoying having this big download every month Is is possible to block all of them, and the future updates?
  19. he means you must slipstream first, then you can do removals (multiple times if you want) it's a good idea to just slipstream once, then keep a backup of those files, so you don't have to do it again
  20. should sticky this nuhi and in caps write it is not possible to slipstream sp1
  21. What i really want is xp64 with superfetch
  22. monohouse, i was simply suggesting using virtualbox for testing (so he can begin to figure out which components he needs, without spending more time burning to disc, and using another machine (or formatting his main machine) virtualbox is perfect for testing like this
  23. personally now i just use that program to do the raid drivers, instead of having to download them yourself (that's what i meant by easier), it still has some missing (like nvidia ones), but it works well no biggie
  24. easier to use this tool mate, then use nlite to finish off the cd http://www.msfn.org/board/RAID-Slipstreame...x64-t85842.html
  25. best way to test is to install virtualbox and 'mount' the iso that you create with nlite in it virtualbox is a program that lets you run a 'pc within your pc' so to speak
