  1. Yes, @D.Draker is famous for helping people, especially with the modded Video drivers. I suggest you add your hardware IDS. https://www.wikihow.com/Find-Hardware-ID

  2. Well, as it turns out, there are some differences between the downloaded pdf.js releases, and the one built into omni.ja. Figures. (Couldn't make it simple, could you, Mozilla?) In the downloaded releases, the locale files are in a "web" subfolder under the first path; not in a separate branch of the directory tree, as in the version built into omni.ja. I haven't yet determined whether the replaced l10n.js accesses the locale data from the new subfolder under "web" Further testing will be needed to figure this thing out completely Edit: Still working on it, but I have figured out that the locale data built into omni.ja is US English only; the locale data in the standalone version is multilingual. So if I can figure this out, at least pdf.js will start working in other languages.... What have I gotten myself into? Oh, well, I can always just give up....

  3. Oh, how could I forget to tell?!? I even saved a bricked GPU that wasn't recognized as a GPU anymore, I had to short the dedicated pins (while it was booting up), it cleared out the chip off the remnants of the invalid BIOS someone stupidly flashed on it, so I was able to re-flash with the original. Probably it will work for the router, too.

  4. The original BIOS was nowhere to be found, and the one I used was meant as an "update", so I used it. I had nothing to lose anyways.

  5. Yep! I thought he should have found out that for himself when conducting such an "investigation". I don't think he really read my article. Or at least, not really thoroughly.

  8. Oh neither do I. Although I have seen stranger changes of heart, so I never say never. Besides, some of the best things I've ever achieved I had to apply pressure to get. It was worth it. No, you don't win 'em all, but you do win some.

  10. I adjusted the report. I had only included the common items modified. Kaspersky Embedded Systems Security 3.3.0.87 modifies much more on Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3. With regards to the official government warnings, depending on the governments, that in itself should not be enough cause of concern; governments are often not truthful in various reports nor are many of the major software vendors align with various government. Many of the security software vendors should not really be trusted, but some are still competent (some more than others) in finding and handling other threats.

  12. And a special thanks to @nicolaasjan for providing objective and real facts in that inofficial Pale Moon thread! I really appreciate your objectivity and practicality. As you probably know, I haven't posted on the Pale Moon forum for a long time. And I always feel vindicated in this decision when I read such comments. Thanks again!

  13. And again, only half-truths and falsehoods in the Pale Moon forum by our "friend" athenian200, in a thread that is not the official support thread of my mod uBlock Origin Legacy: Source: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=30787&sid=feea3eb912a653ba49c1fb3c2bc447f3&start=60#p248309 Why does someone who spreads so many untruths and half-knowledge think he can give advice, especially when he has discredited himself so much with an inadequate examination and disastrous conclusions? Unbelievable! He shouldn't gloss over mistakes he has made, but rather apologise to his readers for the nonsense which he spread there. Read here: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=30787&sid=feea3eb912a653ba49c1fb3c2bc447f3&start=60#p248292 The only thing that is really true in his stories is that he has no idea about extensions. Here is a quotation from the linked post above: Anyway! If one had read the changelogs I provided, one would have realised that not only filter lists were changed. Please, ignore what this guy is saying there! Form your own independent and uninfluenced opinion! Therefore, I advise everyone to read here or ask questions here to get factually correct answers or information when it comes to my mod uBlock Origin Legacy. Kind regards, AstroSkipper

  14. I just had to read this in the Pale Moon forum by athenian200: Source: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=30787&sid=feea3eb912a653ba49c1fb3c2bc447f3&start=60#p248158 Like perhaps some in this forum may already know, I am a mathematician. Unfortunately, from a purely mathematical and statistical point of view, I have to rate this study as unsatisfactory. School mark: F (in Germany 6). If this is the way this so-called developer works, then good night Marie (German saying, translated )! Before any investigation, you should first of all be clear about what you actually want to investigate. That has gone completely wrong here. Anyone who compares apples with pears and thinks meaningful results would be generated is completely wrong. My advice to this self-appointed expert: First read and understand. Then gather facts and think about it carefully. Then you'll be able to bake such childish stuff. The only thing that went well in this investigation was that the "good" man used WinMerge for comparison. But that was it. What is obvious, however, is that this guy really doesn't know much about extensions. My advice to athenian200: Read my article thoroughly before spreading such nonsense! And if you have no idea or are overwhelmed with such an examination, then you should leave it to those who really know how to do it. And what can you actually do with such an "investigation"? Unfortunately, as already mentioned, only this:

  15. @XPerceniol, 3GB is obviously not enough for the "modern" web. MSFN is getting heavier and heavier each day for me too , I also noticed lags when typing in reply windows or creating new topics . All those flags you're trying to add are already included in my version , this one also , of course ! They are just inside , the "ini" file is inside , so you can't see it . Did you try MSFN with my version ? Don't forget to start it from the red "O" icon.

  16. Introduction To start it off, here are my laptop's specs (which will also be the focal point of this thread): Acer Aspire R3-131T, Intel Celeron N3060 processor with Cherry Hill (iCHVGM) graphics (supports Windows 7), 32GB eMMC (SSD-Based?) drive, and touchscreen support. Came with Windows 10 when I bought this in 2017. Anyways, this thread is intended to research on how to get eMMC drives to be recognized by Windows 7. If one goes to the Acer driver page for this laptop, https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/6074?b=1 , you will see it has support for Windows 8.1 and 10. When I bought this laptop in 2017, it came with Windows 10, but I uninstalled that and successfully put 8.1 on it, suggesting there is a generic eMMC driver within 8.1. Indeed there is. This appears it was also present in Windows 8 too, and if you look here, https://betawiki.net/wiki/Windows_8_build_8056_(fbl_grfx_dev1) , you'll see it was introduced quite early in 8's development. Windows 8 Build 8056 is currently the earliest known build to include generic eMMC drivers. It should also be noted that some laptop's that come with an eMMC drive may not come with an HDD or even the SATA connector for such a drive. Some models of the Aspire R3-131T come with an HDD slot as well, but mine does not. Why won't Windows 7 install to an eMMC drive? Windows 7 does not include a generic eMMC driver, and it is unlikely there is a Windows 7 driver for it. If you try and install it, Windows Installer will complain that it can't detect the drive and to install a driver for it by loading it through something like a USB. Simply popping in a Windows 8.1 USB and pointing the installer to the folder the driver is in will not work due to it being "locked" to 8.1. How do we get Windows 7 to install to an eMMC drive? We would need to "unlock" and backport the generic driver from Windows 8/8.1 to Windows 7. If one looks at the driver details for the MMC Memory Card under Disk Drives in Device Manager, it will report as being dated on 6/21/2006 (at least on Build 8056). This would indicate that the driver has been present since Windows Vista and is in 7, but we all know that to be false. How do we backport the driver? I'll be the first to admit that I don't have a deep knowledge of drivers. I do know enough to be able to modify driver inf files to add in processors, but not enough to perform a full scale backport of one. Looking at the properties of the drive in Windows 8 Build 8056, Windows appears to treat it like an SD Card. Indeed, this is confirmed by going into Computer and seeing the SD Card icon next to the driver. Looking at the other details, the driver's inf name is disk.inf. The file and any others will be included so they can be studied (if sharing these files is not allowed, please do let me know so I can remove them). Conclusion So from everything that I have gathered about these drives is that they appear to be some sort of internal, soldered on SD Card (at least in my case) or at least treated like one. I believe that the drivers for these drives can be backported to Windows 7, however, there may be an issue with unsigned drivers (since Windows Installer will most likely refuse the driver since it is unsigned). This, however, can most likely be solved by using the installation and driver integrating method found within this thread: In the gist of things, this method involves installing Windows 7 to the drive via command prompt and diskpart and then using DISM to integrate the eMMC drivers (/forceunsigned will be needed). This method revolves around UEFI and you will lose things that would result in the graphics falling back to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter such as Blue Screen of Death's and Safe Mode (those will still be accessible and usable, however, you would just have a blank, black screen). If people got Windows 8's generic USB 3.0 "unlocked" and backported then I believe it is possible to "unlock" and backport 8's generic eMMC driver to 7. disk.sys disk.inf disk.PNF

  19. @Amigafever Thanks for your interest in my mod uBlock Origin Legacy! Unfortunately, these new assets.json files of the webextension uBlock Origin are no longer compatible with the legacy extension. To implement such features in uBlock Origin Legacy is very time-consuming due to deeper code changes. Don't forget I am not the developer of uBO which is gorhill together with his team! I am just a one-man band when it comes to fixing code or creating new things. All changes I did in terms of uBlock Origin Legacy are the result of own investigations of uBO's source code. Apart from that I don’t really like this new feature. One always has to weigh the effort and the benefit of such things. I have a lot of projects, and my time is unfortunately limited. Greetings, AstroSkipper

  20. It's been some time that both Annoyances lists (AdGuard/EasyList) have been split into sub-categories. It'd be great if you could bring this to the Legacy version! These lists are often involved in website breakage, and having sub-categories would make it easier to enable/disable unwanted stuff. Of course, I don't know if these newer sub-categories are fully compatible with Legacy. I'd expect them to, since the "main" Annoyances list I assume is the sum of all smaller sub-categories. (I've seen references to an "Annoyances bug" in older posts, but I'm not sure what that was/is.)

  21. If it is about simultaneous output of sounds, it was in relation to a computer I had built for a client that used 4 sound cards (3 discrete + onboard) and ran on Windows XP 64bit. The specs for that may be located on a backup hard drive somewhere, I could attempt to find the info if required but it doesn't appear that is related to this topic. Personally, I've resorted to building physical computers to run the older games. Mainly because some of them have hardware requirements that cannot be used in a VM or emulator. Then again, I know of others who exclusively use VMs for running games and not their host OS. As long as the game doesn't have any special hardware requirement, it should be possible but a LOT of research and testing may be involved. A site you should check out to see if any old game has a patch or way to run on the modern OS (it may be limited to modern re-releases) is https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Home

  30. ... With respect , you did not make an effort, it seems, to follow what I have already posted in a previous post ; whether a PDF on-line URI will generate a "Save As" file download prompt (case 1 in your previous post) or the PDF file will be auto-downloaded in the background and rendered+displayed inside the browser's Native PDF Viewer (case 2 in your previous post) is something beyond the user's (initial) control, in fact it's a server-side configuration: the PDF file on the hosting server has been configured with a content-disposition value, by the server admins... In case 2, the value is "inline"; this (alongside a suitable Content-Type header) instructs the browser to handle the PDF file "in-line", i.e display it inside a tab via the native viewer (or via a PDF reader plugin, where applicable); in case 1, the value is "attachment"; this instructs the browser to simply "download" the PDF file to disk, for storage. I have already mentioned an extension in my previous post which changes the "attachment" Content-Disposition value to "inline", but the problem with such an extension is it's not specific to PDF files; other types of files you may want to download to disk (e.g. images, audio, video, etc.) will attempt to be displayed directly in the browser (if the browser is able to render them natively); that's why I said I only enable that extension at will...

  32. "One superman" brigade of dozens accounts is his rather new conspiracy theory, before that it was a "governmental European organization" that allegedly aimed to discredit the AV he was fiercely pushing at MSFN. I even got angry PMs with that AV promotions. About Opera, stick with the one I did, no need to update right now, later on I'll find a solution, like I always do.

  34. My German language pack for New Moon 28 - Fixed - Part 3 My last German language pack 28.10.0rc4 from this post had to be fixed again. I found another issue under Einstellungen -> Datenschutz some weeks ago. Here is a screenshot to demonstrate this issue: I have fixed this issue and assigned the number 28.10.0rc5 to the new, corrected version. Here are two screenshots taken from the fixed version in the most recent version of New Moon 28 (2024-01-31): And here is the download link of the updated, German language package in version 28.10.0rc5 for the more recent versions of New Moon 28 (issue observed starting with the version palemoon-28.10.7a1.win32-git-20240120-d849524bd-uxp-a62d808d09-xpmod): https://www.mediafire.com/file/xty66noengy0ktg/de-28.10.0_RC5.xpi/file Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper

  35. Well done! Your Dutch colleagues will be delighted with such a service. BTW, I already mentioned this issue here two weeks ago: https://msfn.org/board/topic/185966-my-browser-builds-part-5/?do=findComment&comment=1258614 I have fixed my German language pack the day I posted this issue. This corrected language pack has been in testing mode since then. I will post it when testing mode is over, and all is definitely working. So far, no further issues.

  39. No, speaking of "groups", you are very selective to whom you admonish. UCyborg is a tech savvy guy, I'm sure he wouldn't have a slightest problem with just a link, without several A4 sheets of reply accompanied it.

  40. Especially in a thread whose title is "Latest Version of Software Running on XP", I prefer a download link when specifying the latest XP-compatible version, and I also find this very helpful for the reader. Actually, this should not be a problem if you have already researched anyway. Personally, I am a friend of thoroughness. And I know you are too.

  41. ??? You just wrote it yourself. You can replace "the" with "its" . Youtube is hiding the dislike count from its videos. Censorship or your benefit? (spoiler: it's the first one). The dislike count is something that was implemented by youtube for the videos on their website (not just some abstract videos).

  43. Yeah , I'm somewhat disoriented too , but we need to hold on ! This damn new "normality", when it's getting heavier and heavier to live ,like we lived before, is starting to get on my nerves , and I'm a very calm person . Was going to put a like on your post .... but it would be weird to like your current condition , wouldn't it ? I'm with you , man .

  44. Friend , don't waste your time on obsolete junk , couple of months ahead and v13. will start to show it's old age too. It can't even properly do java at github and "modern" websites , as of now . Don't forget we're at Chrome 98 already ! At the insane rate they "update" (read bloat) websites we won't be able to browse web soon . I looked into v21 for you , no way it will run on XP64 , it's just too much to modify ! One would need to edit the code and remove certain portion sof it. You can't simply cheat with the replaced APIs anymore. Besides , it's a huge telemetry bloated mess. Well, let's say we start to mod it , but it will be obsolete by the time we finish because I'll be pretty busy in the next year.

  45. No , it's not possible . Why ? Because it uses ffmpeg that is not supported on XP . The last working version off ffmpeg is 7 or so years old , it will be glitchy as hell with their newer videos , I've managed to port a version from 2020 to Vista and it works fine , but not for XP. So I'm afraid @j7n is out of luck with this one.
