The forum does show the account locking and also the LA IP address. However, that login attempt was using the same device you normally use. Furthermore, when you changed your forum password, it was done using a Moreno California IP address, which you continued to use that same day (6/17) and even made posts, such as this one: https://msfn.org/board/topic/184737-mental-health-awareness-month/page/19/#comment-1247114 The CA IPs that were used that day are registered to the same ISP as the ones you normally use, so it appears to the forum that it was your own device that generated the failed attempts.3 points

Agree! You obviously can't produce a video, this is why you're mad, since it's not real you anymore, the Texan legacyfan, but the fake one from California. Which they concluded in the process of the investigation, now it can be locked, and the fake legacyfan banned until the real one proves his identity. It's fair to everyone.2 points

Thank you @AstroSkipper It is due to my personal experience using aforesaid product which you might denote it as subjective. There is an ongoing thread Wilders Security. Please see link below : https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/superantispyware-updates-news.391893/ I am absolutely sure you are aware of that. Quite a few, not very encouraging comments on Reddit . Also there is this youtube video where this product is tested against 575 malware. This video is in Portuguese. You can always put English or German subtitles. I have to say that I am enjoying this new thread very much indeed. Thank you Cheers !2 points

I see, according to the UXP issue MS Visual Studio 2017 works with C++14. If they decide to upgrade to C++14 then Visual Studio 2017 can continue to be used. If they go with C++17 then I only see two routes forward: * Switch to mingw/fix mingw builds * backport changes from upstream to work on C++14 For some background on their decision for switching to a newer C++ standard, a major reason that they switched to Visual Studio 2022 in the first place was so that they could switch to newer C++ versions.2 points

Thank you! And the above links are only a handful of such posts. There's literally a ton of posts where he always talks about him being from Texas, how cool Texas is, Texan women and weather, etc. How he moved to Texas from Eastern Europe, etc.2 points

Well, then it's definitely an impostor, because the real legacyfan always told us he is from Texas. The fake one from CA needs to be blocked/banned until the real Texan legacyfan returns and shows the proof (like they do it on instagram) and his IP from Texas. Also, considering his public confession of stalking and putting dirt on MSFN (in the thread you've mentioned), I'd say the abuser must go. Hi guys. Not that important, but I wanted to tell you that I'm testing that Chrome recommended pages ago under Windows 7. I find it ironic that it's called ungoogled since there's no way to remove _oogle as a search engine and add, say, DuckDuckGo! I also couldn't find a way to install any extensions. A downer... since browsing is fast and it seems very light on resources. I'm starting to test Waterfox Classic. I'll let you know how it goes.1 point

Safer-Networking "Spybot - Search & Destroy" It is officially offered for Windows XP in legacy version 2.4.40.0 (2014-10-22). https://download.spybot.info/Spybot2/ It is a free anti-spyware program that offers the possibility of working as an antivirus in a paid version. I downloaded this version 2.4.40 in 2014 and it seemed more complicated than version 1.6.2, so I have since discarded the program. Now I see that it was the last version for XP and that the database is updated to the current date. Definitions can be downloaded in sideload for v. 2.x Version 1.6.2 is also officially offered https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-1-6-2-mirror-1/1 point

As for MS Visual Studio, either 2015 or 2017, nothing newer ... I believe VS2017, up-to-a-version (?), would've allowed to install the v141_xp toolset (enables compilation of apps that can run on XP+; the default for VS2017 is NT 6.0, I think ) ... https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49516896/how-to-install-build-tools-for-v141-xp-for-vc-20171 point

Of course not, but we already got what you said before about "no stalking pass" for me and declared your conditions. Don't try to edit out your written confession. How much of trouble would it be to use gcc or clang, I can build with gcc 13.1 and target Windows XP, maybe in some cases gcc13 could emit bad code incompatible with XP but gcc8.4 should be fine and supports C++17. Also if they target for C++14 it is a minor addition to C++11 so it should not be too hard to port the code.1 point

Hello @Tangy! Welcome to this thread! Analyzing your statement, I am sorry to say that you have forgotten to give reasons. I am a mathematician, and such statements without justification or proof are basically meaningless. Therefore, the following question: Why is SUPERAntiSpyware worthless or useless in your eyes? You said you hadn't used it for more than 4 years. So from what experience do you base such a statement?1 point

Nice I had the Amstrad in my family in the 90s, but are you still using your Commodore as a daily? It really was hard for me just to accept to use XP over Win98SE, I used Win98SE as a daily driver up to 2014, people were saying I was a boomer because I am still using XP when I was actually just starting up with XP (I was already familiar with XP but i was not liking it much especially because of poor DOS and WIN16 support but the web forced me). Now I really like XP and I will probably wait a long time before switching to Windows 7 as my personal OS. I still love and use Win98, one of the best Windows, but I mostly use XP.1 point

I use uBlock origin in "Advanced mode" so that it includes a mini uMatrix It does break half websites I visit and I spend a lot of time adjusting the settings. I used to be a uMatrix dye hard fan, but I was spending a bit too much time configuring it, and some time I was unable to reach my goal, so I ended switching to uBlock (also because it has more powerful additional filtering options). I do regret the basic and simple power of uMatrix. I still think uBlock should include the uMatrix panel which was more powerful than uBlock's advanced mode pannel. I tried running both extensions at the same time but the slowdown was significant and it is even more of a mess to play around with. So I would not call uBlock Origin a passive extensions , It just can be used passively unlike uMatrix.1 point
-
I'd even go one step further. What percentage of internet users roll with "active" extensions versus "passive" extensions. uMatrix is "active", requires the end user to create their own rules. uBlock Origin is "passive", runs in the background and strives for no user-interaction whatsoever, to the point that some users FORGET it's even there and never think that their current web site is "broken" because of uBlock Origin's decisions made "for" the user.1 point

how many W7+ users do have interest on a browser with very limited number of extensions ? Especially Serpent (a fork from Basilisk) supports a huge number of extensions. This browser is compatible with both types, legacy XUL extensions and webextensions. And generally, XUL extensions are much less restricted in browsers than webextensions. TBH, leagacy XUL extensions are actually not restricted at all. And they can easily be modified. Therefore, I prefer them.1 point
-
What I meant here is that I can help roytam1 with whatever assistance he may need to continue Serpent and any of his other XP browser projects. Some examples could include paying for a server to host a git repo that is accessible in China/HK, providing mirrors of his builds, or providing him with a mirror of the UXP/Pale Moon/Basilisk/etc codebases that is accessible from China/HK, etc. MyPal 68 is not compatible with XUL extensions. I have no interest in non-XUL based Firefox browsers.1 point
-
Mypal 68 is a browser developed by @feodor2 and his own projct. I think you've got something mixed up there.1 point
-
To be fair, MyPal 68 is still in beta, and its author lives in a country at war, so I'm not surprised that 68 still isn't very stable. It's stunning that it works on XP at all, given that Rust was supposedly fundamentally incompatible with XP. My comments were merely to express surprise that it's more stable in single-process mode, and to wonder whether that applies to Windows 7 or only to XP.1 point

Let's hope that's not the case, Roy. Always grateful for your releases... and that's an understatement. I wanted to tell you all that I have been experimenting with Windows 7. It seems to be a reliable, stable, lightweight operating system. It runs smoothly. In fact, it boots faster than our dear old XP. I've slapped it around a bit and it holds up very well to the abuse. Firefox is still compatible, although the latest version does not support some extensions that I use and miss very much. Another problem is that it consumes a lot of memory... a lot. Having 4 or 5 tabs open means more than 2gb of ram gone. I've taken the opportunity to test the latest version of MyPal -thanks Feodor- and it seems to work very well. At memory level it seems similar and I still could not test if the extensions I use are compatible, but the good news is that Whatsapp Web works. Still... I could not get used to Windows 7. It offers some compatibility but several key programs are no longer compatible. So for now I'm sticking with XP.1 point

I found Win-11/Pro/64 to be like a ball of modeling clay. Totally tweakable, maleable, fixable, whatchamacallit. It took me no time at all to fix the crazy task bar, and then get rid of that crazy Blue Thing on the desktop. Just about every tweak you could want is already built in to the OS, if you have the experience to find it. Right clicking on the task bar, takes you right into "Settings" where you can Tweak to your hearts desire. If that's not enough for you, there is always the Classic Shell, and beyond that the "WinAero Tweaker". I never did like the looks of Win-10, so I upgraded directly from Win-8.1 to Win-11/Pro/64 in one move. And y'know what? Win-11 runs faster on my old PC, than 8.1 did. Forget the12 step program, for upgrading to Win-11. Some will make that sound so complicated. It's really only a three step process. 1. Download the Win-11 ISO from a trusted source, not necessarily MS. 2. Burn the ISO to a Flash Drive, of sufficient size. >8GB Using the latest ver. of Rufus, and accept all option, from the option menu. 3. Boot up your PC with the Flash Drive and Install Win-11. All compatibility restraints and security questions will have been remove by Rufus. The rest is just up to you, and how far you want to go, making Win-11 yours. I've gone through the above process 16 times now. It just gets easier every time. I hope you all have had a Great Memorial Day, Andromeda1 point
