Note - there is a known issue if you run this browser with a very long sub-folder file name. Please rename the downloaded file upon download, the names here are only to distinguish their differences. This thread is devoted primarily to WinXP and a Chromium fork based on Chromium v86. Any discussions regarding v86 and its "age" will be reported to the mods as "disrespect" and in direct violation of Forum Rule 7.b. 7.b This community is built upon mutual respect. You are not allowed to flame other members. People who do not respect personal opinions and/or personal work will be warned in first instance. If you ignore the warning and keep on flaming, you will be banned without notice. This project is my personal work that I share with MSFN because there is a need for a "relatively modern" web browser for use in WinXP and v86 has performed "reasonably well" in that regard. The user-base is perfectly aware that XP will not serve 100% of our needs, that v86 will not serve 100% of our needs, we know this and accept this, we are not here to be told to "move on" from XP and what works for us in XP. We The Community can respect this endeavor in the same manner that we respect content shared at MSFN threads devoted to Win98 and Win2000 without trolling such threads and citing "age". Many thanks to all that continue to support this personal work. There is a combination of several versions to choose from. Regular versus Ungoogled -- ungoogled intentionally breaks telemetry sent to the Chrome Web Store, this in turn breaks the "Add to Chrome" feature at the Chrome Web Store so extensions need added via other means. WebGL enabled/disabled -- WebGL may or may not work on older hardware, so mileage may vary. Translation enabled/disabled -- Chromium-based browsers have an embedded Google Translate context menu feature, I offer versions with and without this embedded feature. WinXP / Win10 skin -- I only use this browser in WinXP and therefore I prefer it to look-and-feel like everything else I run in WinXP. Others prefer the more "modern" Chrome GUI and the Win10 skin attempts to please that crowd. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wsch5owpc8yv184/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-disabled_translate-disabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/fl9ureunhg2k2x7/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-disabled_translate-disabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/whki7vldp655nx1/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-disabled_translate-enabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/59561mewhx0ufzb/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-disabled_translate-enabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/l3e5m48tzzb30bj/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-enabled_translate-disabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/npnxobadg89m7uj/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-enabled_translate-disabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/ithrm1ttt2nypb1/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-enabled_translate-enabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/f2935ei6q5d0w3u/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_regular_webgl-enabled_translate-enabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/i9t2rul2t5g99ml/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-disabled_translate-disabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/wqm2tzaum2088ph/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-disabled_translate-disabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/wqzujgi97cyuf7u/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-disabled_translate-enabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbt5g1pv9nazfo4/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-disabled_translate-enabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/g4g0jdgogoexa3p/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-enabled_translate-disabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/bcsexi8cm5tw2np/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-enabled_translate-disabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/yz8usl2hgsbxtk0/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-enabled_translate-enabled_win-10-skin.zip?dl=1 https://www.dropbox.com/s/pi43092cazygjz6/360ChromePortable_13.5.1030_r8_ungoogled_webgl-enabled_translate-enabled_win-xp-skin.zip?dl=13 points

A rather funny Serpent 52.9 crash just happened - I was watching youtube for some time and then HWunBoxed video RTX4070Ti against RX7900XT and the message about basilisk encountering error popped up. The video was still going for a while and then stopped and if I dragged the error window all over the screen (which I did) resulted it this lovely picture (attached). When I "click(ed) here" it said it has to do with mozglue.dll or something similar. BTW thank you for the new release, roytam1, starting from last week's each now is much more up to date and faster working than ever before. After a Serpent restart it works normally again.3 points

Unless he has a good GPU. In such a case, the heavy lifting is shifted to the GPU, and not the CPU. I was using Vista x64 Ultimate on an HP xw8200 (a dual Xeon system, based on Netburst P4), I had 7 GB of DDR2 RAM in it, and my PCI-e slot was knackered, so I put in a nicely accelerated PCI dadapter. Aero sang sweetly on that, and I had no issues with Vista. This was especcailly the case with SP2 built in and the Platform update. On an XP-era computer? Sure disabe Aero.3 points

this is an old problem since feb uncovered by https://github.com/roytam1/UXP/commit/9824659d3c6b1c4fdc2616f789f0696d1cbe2ef8 and https://github.com/roytam1/UXP/commit/b7e4530861fcc971aee9d867b3b376e31263486c and they said it is fixed by https://github.com/roytam1/UXP/commit/1f0df8f421626bcbc397512773f3043d72d96a4f but I still need to revert first 2 mentioned commits in order to make it not crashing.2 points

Pull-quote from another thread about a different site with this problem (https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=26061&p=207349#p207323): Emphasis added. And further down the page: So it looks like Google gets the blame after all. The (partial?) answer is on Pale Moon forum - UXP doesn't support <link rel="preload" ...>. Unsure if above is related to current work-in-progress on Web Components, but here's a good URL to crash right away in xul.dll: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/asteroid-2023dw-could-hit-earth-valentines-day-2046-nasa/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&linkId=204708560 Should be fixed already by upstream.2 points

No, appears to be .NET Windows Forms app with WebBrowser control, so just a frame around Internet Explorer's Trident engine provided by the operating system. You cannot pack actual complex web browser with ability to handle modern web in few megabytes.2 points

If I may say so, anyone who would flame you/criticize your hard work isn't someone I would want to associate with, here or elsewhere. I took a few days off to consider things, and was giving serious thought to returning to XP x64. Seeing you did another 360v13.5 build was all the motivation I needed, so I'm back (and plan to stay with it; thankfully, any concerns about future upgrades are now settled, so for now I can use XP safely and happily). Thank you very much for continuing to devote time and effort to this fantastic project! I've never had a problem with 360 at any point...aside from the weird 'rewriting files' bug for which a very simple workaround exists (one you don't need an addon for), every version of 360 I have tried, from you and other sources, has been an absolute joy to use. I think at this point I'm going to stick with 360, while allowing for other options (Mypal68, MiniBrowser, older/newer roytam1 builds, etc.) as alternate browsers and, of course, keeping track of any new developments. 360 is pretty much as good of a balance as possible: it uses a good modern engine with solid support for recent web standards, still has Flash support (and can even use NPAPI plugins!), and thanks to your optimization is performing well on my old HP S5-1020. Actually, the performance is far better than Mini and competitive with 9.5/11/12, something I wasn't sure could be achieved with 13.x. It's funny because every time I try something newer, I keep going back to XP. It is a near-flawless masterpiece of an OS. I still maintain, and I'll stand by this until the day I pass, that if Microsoft had simply let XP be the last Windows and just kept offering updates and kernel improvements, they would have avoided a lot of BS and still made a lot of money. Again...thank you for doing what you do, sir!2 points

One may want to use the password manager. Will depend on your graphics card. I do not need to change any flags to enable WebGL on any of my computers, I only need to not disable via the loader.ini. On XP, WebGL on Chromium can only work using SwiftShader (doesn't use GPU, very slow), which should work if WebGL wasn't disabled or required DLLs deleted. Due to above, results from St52 don't say much. Mozilla-based forks don't have SwiftShader fall-back, fair comparison on XP is therefore impossible. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15283972 points

This build is targeted to be more RAM-friendly than earlier builds. The chrome.dll file now has a default base address of 0x3e1c0000 and this seems to work well for both x86 XP and for x64 XP. Limited to no tests whatsoever were performed outside of XP. Many thanks @UCyborg , much appreciated! So, it wasn't actually "new and exotic", just "old and exotic (Googlism)" ... Interestingly/funnily enough, Mozilla were quick to concoct their own implementation in Fx 56.0, which turned out to be problematic and had to be retracted in v57.0: ... Yes, as early as version 50 (!) of Chromium ... ... What I still don't get (being a non-coder) is why disabling JS works around it - and any answer to my uBO-related "plea-for-help", please ?1 point

Here are some .dll's to try (they of course need renamed to chrome.dll but I know you know that). These are "no-translate" versions of chrome.dll. #6 may be the most revealing - it rebases "away" from the ORIGINAL address only to rebase "back to" the ORIGINAL address. #4 is rebased to the same address as that used in rebuild 7. Please let me know how these do for you and many thanks in advance, this will prove VERY helpful. .7z (236 MB, six different .dll's to try) -- https://www.dropbox.com/s/7augkeqjb00wwkr/chrome-dll.7z?dl=11 point

The 472 driver will 99% not work! You need to create an osver.ini file (In the thread below you will find information about what it should contain) Even so, you are bound to get a BSOD or error code in the device manager anyway. The 372 driver is too old to support RTX. Perhaps version 398 modified by win32 will be able to support your graphics card after modifications, but it is unstable probably. There is no point in using anything newer than the 900 series on Windows Vista, or the 1000 series on modified drivers.1 point

Okay, one minute, I'll upload a few chrome.dll test cases. Your situation is perfect as a means to improve the overall product.1 point

I have downloaded all regular builds and they all crash1 point

Interesting. I see that you are running three instances of 360Chrome and Dr. Watson only triggered on the multiple instances. I do not have Dr. Watson has part of any of my XP installs so about all I can suspect is that this is due to rebuild 8 being rebased at a different address then rebuild 7. Which version are you using (webgl, translation, skin)? I can upload a chrome.dll that is rebased at a different address and see if that solves your Dr. Watson trigger.1 point

What's your Intel SATA driver device ID (you can find this under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers).1 point

I switched to another PC for installing Windows 2000 - This time, it's a Dell Precision T3600 with a Sandy Bridge Xeon E5-1650. Instead of using NLite I manually integrated the iaAHCI driver and I could successfully install Win2K Pro (English), Win2K Datacenter (English) and Win2K Pro (Korean). However the Extended Kernel didn't want to install on any windows other than English so I continued with the english version of Win2K Datacenter. So far, most things are working. The Realtek ALC269 isn't working, and the nVIDIA GT720 only displays screen on one of the two monitors. As I want both dual monitors functioning I temporarily installed a secondary ATi X1300 Pro. Now the GT720 and X1300 each handles one 1920x1080 monitors, and it does work (although a real solution would be nice). For the ALC269, a "wdm_r261.exe" driver did make Device Manager detect the card, but Windows doesn't detect any sound output device in the Control Panel. This works on WinXP, I guess I should try more drivers.. (Seems like the nVIDIA HD Audio device doesn't work too, but I'm not sure as I don't use a HDMI monitor - maybe it will work with a HDMI monitor with audio capability)1 point

You will not win any friends here at MSFN by posting similar topics in multiple threads. You've only joined MSFN approx 7hrs ago and all three of your posts are this one issue. It's a general rule-of-thumb to WAIT at least 24hrs (if not THREE DAYS minimum!) before BUMPING your own threads because nobody has answered yet.1 point

Ah yes! Good catch! The swiftshader files were removed originally due to FALSE INFO from the MSFN Community. I have always kept them in MY local copy due to multi-monitor setup crashes when they are removed (even with WebGL disabled via loader.ini). In my local setup, I keep the swiftshader SUB-FOLDER but I delete the two files in the ROOT FOLDER -- so I am unsure if "both" sets are required or not. My apologies, yes, MY local setup has always kept the swiftshader sub-folder -- and I had no desire to "debate" with the MSFN Community at the time those were being discussed as "not needed".1 point

Yes, I prefer the tab label fading feature rather than elipsis as well. The WebComponents improvements are not ready, which is why they are not merged into Basilisk yet. There are bugs that are still being fixed. I generally do new releases around the same time as Pale Moon releases. My original implementation was a direct backport from Firefox 53 so it is possible that the addon behaves differently between Firefox 52 and 53. I did not check the extension since I don't use it. I plan to reimplement this feature using the same method that the Pale Moon team used (this should preserve backwards compatibility with addons). It will be togglable with a pref just like the Pale Moon feature.1 point

I also wasn't able to install Office 2010 on Windows 2000, either. And this isn't the first time I tried installing Office 2010, I tried several times before to no avail. I also still prefer Office 2003 and older to this day.1 point

I'll give this a spin soon. I also want to report a possible bug with the v30 Extended Kernel and v16a Extended Core, both English. I installed the Realtek audio driver and it worked fine. I installed the aforementioned Kernel and Core and it worked fine, but when I installed USB Bluetooth audio, the Realtek audio device stops working. In the device manager, all the audio devices appear fine (no errors or anything) and the Realtek control panel applet still works. Right clicking the taskbar icon and selecting the Windows audio option causes the laptop to beep and an error message: "There are no active mixer devices available. Please install one from the add/remove hardware control panel" pops up. But, when I play the 3D audio demo from the Realtek control panel (in this case, the bee), I can hear the bee buzzing. This problem also occurs after installing the Intel Display Audio as well. I don't need the Display audio, but I would like to use my Bluetooth audio at least.1 point

We will soon be able to use OBS 28.0 beta 2 as well as PCSX2 x64 (wxWidgets version for now - Qt version has complicated Windows 10 1803 functions): The small DirectX extensions seem to be working. I want to take them further and go in the direction of newer graphics drivers, Vulkan and ultimately DX12 (it will come in some way - either with Vulkan using vkd3d or D3D12on7 with 2018/19 GPU drivers; and a tiny possibility of using WDDM 2.0 drivers, but that could be quite complicated)1 point

I have resigned myself to declaring that ntdll on Vista and up is indeed off limits. I again went to XP x64 for some inspiration and installed (Vista-compatible) Blender 2.90 on it. Several functions were missing like InitializeCriticalSectionEx. That function imports RtlInitializeCriticalSectionEx from ntdll, which also was introduced in Vista. So that requires doing the near-impossible, import table expansion. Then I looked at One-Core-API. As @Ximonite pointed out, ntext helps extend ntdll. ntext is a layer between kernel32 and ntdll, and most of ntext is imports and forwards respectively from/to ntdll. No new imports unless we make our own binaries, but forwards are indeed exports from the file. The people designing the PE format certainly had some nice tricks up their sleeves! Though I was forwarding functions to ntdll from kernel32 in Windows 2000 back in June, so my memory is going I guess. So this ntext would be a copy of ntdll with new and upgraded functions. But what about programs that call ntdll directly (which is frowned upon for win32 applications as kernel32 is what they're supposed to call as an intermediary)? A patcher that changes import table references from ntdll to ntext in a particular program is needed. Preferably, I'd like to make the file that ntoskrnl loads and is integrity-checked a decoy named ntext (which would be the original ntdll), while everything else calls a modified ntdll (so no changes to import tables are necessary). But changing the reference to ntdll I found in ntoskrnl did nothing.1 point

It should be. Each NT6 system file is applicable to all languages, with the mui files doing the hard work.1 point

The version check is very complicated. First you must tell fcwin2k/nnn4nt5/Application Verifier x86 to trick the downloaded setup executable into thinking it's on 7 SP1. But then another version block appears, references W7, 8.1 and 10 1607+. This is done by a file named SetupShim.exe. For some reason I can't get around that. So I located the install files in X:\User\AppData\Local\Temp\PdnSetup. This appears to include the files needed to run the software. You can also run the two MSIs in the folder once you go into Orca and drop the "LaunchCondition" table. It will error out at the end but don't press OK: copy the files from the Paint.NET folder in Program Files (x86) to a safe place before the Windows Installer deletes everything. However, it appears that programs running under .NET 4.8 on Vista need SetThreadGroupAffinity (which is relatively easy to implement). I haven't tried with 4.7.1 point
