  1. I fully agree with that! I am additionally an Android user since 2014, and so unfortunately I am a slave under Google's rule. I keep trying to free myself as much as I can, but it is almost impossible to do so completely. Unfortunately, all my browsers on Android are based on Chromium. There are simply no alternative browser engines.

  2. Respectfully, I beg to differ ... Google do come up with new JS drafts and are very swift to implement them into their own browser monopoly ... Adherence to well-established web standards is a lesser concern to them - they practically control themselves the W3C board, so everything "new" and "fancy" they devise will find its way into a "revised"/updated Web Standard ... TL:DR: Google aren't better at "complying" to web standards; they "own" "www" with their monopoly and can do "as they please" with web standards... As the majority of current mainstream browsers are Chromium-based, what Google do dictates what the rest are forced to do... Mozilla are funded by Google, their "current" Gecko engine aspires to be a Chromium fork; so, Firefox also adopts what Google have already implemented a while back into their browser (a policy known as "Chrome-parity") ... That leaves ALL the rest browser choices (non-Chromium/non-Firefox) lagging behind in Web Compatibility...

  3. Hello @roytam1! Even though there are members here who don't appreciate weekly updates of your browsers, I would like to thank you for your regular browser releases, the time you spend on them and your enthusiasm. You maintain so many projects with an incredible continuity that is quite impressive. New Moon 28 and Serpent are my main browsers in Windows XP. And they even work with YouTube on older computers, where 360Chrome is a total failure. Many thanks for that!

  4. IE is no longer useful for web browsing. Old intranet stuff would likely not even benefit from IE10/11. But IE10/11 do have some limited uses in non-browsing situations; the license authentication for Autodesk products may still use it (but you can spoof IE10 in Group Policy and run it anyway), and the installer for Adobe CC products has used IE since 2015 or 17. Even the authentication component of Chromium Edge requires IE11. But I suspect these applications will have moved on from IE once I have implemented all the "black box" functions and "black box" function flags to existing functions that would make these newer browsers or at least rendering engines work. Also, I think it's hypocritical of Adobe to still depend on IE when they made such a big fuss over discontinuing their Flash players and timebombing the final versions.

  5. Thank you, Mina, for your concern. Been rough to be honest and haven't been doing much. Hopefully things will improve. I hope things are going alright for everyone here, as well. Will try to catch up tomorrow. Thank you guys for posting on my threads - it helps me to read others ideas and thoughts. Sal

  8. That's out of context and not exactly what I said. I "appreciate" the weekly updates even if I don't update every week. I do download every week, update in a VirtualBox, and decide for myself if the host OS also requires the update.

  9. ... Well, those builds use a CPython 3.7.1 version "hacked"/patched to work specifically on WinXP, ONLY (whereas official CPython 3.7.x, by the PSF, requires WinVista as minimum [client] WinOS) ... The PSF EoS'ed WinXP SP3 with the CPython 3.4.x branch; this patched py3.7 compilation borrows modified "system-like" files from either Wine/ReactOS/OneCore API (not sure exactly which ) projects (files bcrypt.dll, kernelXP.dll, ntext.dll, psapi.dll, ws2_xx.dll), which specifically target NT 5.1 and aim to backport missing functions from NT 6.0 (where py3.7 runs natively ) . It's the same (type of) CPython 3.7.x "hack" that is incorporated into the latest ProxHTTPSProxy versions (maintained/released by MSFN member AstroSkipper); this nice project runs successfully ONLY under Windows XP; for Vista [and higher, though Win7 updated to EoS shouldn't need ProxHTTPSProxy ], the embedded Python has to, somehow, be switched to one of the official py3.7 releases...

  15. Slimjet Version History shows that current version 38.0.0.0 is based on Chromium 109, so of course it works on Windows 7, and there will probably be a number of 38.x revisions, which is probably all the support Windows 7 will get from Slimjet (but time will tell).

  16. That's not out of context. Did I mention you? If you think that this does not apply to you, then you should not feel addressed. You are not the only member of this forum. People who refer everything to themselves have a problem, of course.

  22. If you're seeking "best performing", then you will NOT want to update each ane every week just because a "new" release is release each and every week. I personally find that the 2018 versions of roytam's offerings are way WAY faster then anything new! BUT then you run into compatibility issues on the "modern web". This is NOT Google's fault! They do NOT come up with javascript functions, they just do better at "compliance" to web standards !!! !!! !!! These days, if you really really "must" use 'these browsers', then you also MUST come to the understanding that they will NOT be able to do "everything" on the internet. So you will become like most of us here - a DOZEN web browsers installed on your computer - one for this, one for that, another for those, still another for these.

  38. Well, if such an order were given, we probably wouldn't have time to wonder. There's an article on William Robert Johnston's website, The Effects of Global Thermonuclear War, which attempted to illustrate what nuclear war would have looked like in 1988 when the nuclear arsenals of America and the Soviet Union were around their peak. Nuclear submarines parked off the coast of the target country can deliver their missiles in fifteen minutes based on his storyboarding of the apocalypse. But before then our only warning of impending nuclear war might be EMP attacks. Johnston hypothesizes nuclear weapons on board satellites being the culprit, but some of the films made in the 1980's like The Day After and Threads have the Soviets detonating nukes high above North America and Europe to achieve the same effect. Either way, I'm sure that modern nuclear attack plans by any of the "nuclear club" still call for blanketing target countries in EMP. And that's something most consumer electronics are not capable of surviving. EMP will fry electronics even if they're powered off and unplugged, and the only way to protect such devices would be through storing them in something that provides EMP shielding. Now I personally have worried off and on about the potential for electromagnetic fun times from a coronal mass ejection causing a geomagnetic storms, like the Carrington Event in the 1800s. To date I really haven't found any easily procurable solutions for storing electronics in something that's EMP shielded. It's not easy as buying a fireproof/fire resistant safe, you usually wind up having to make your own solutions. Anyway, for me it may not matter if nuclear war comes. I don't think I live far enough away from potential blast zones that I would survive the initial attack. Or even if I did I'd probably die from acute radiation sickness from the fallout that would follow. I've wanted to get somewhere out of the way, but I don't have the income to support packing up and moving.

  40. *HEV suit warning beeping* "Warning, vital signs are dropping!" *In GLaDOS' voice* "Hahaha, I'm kidding." Symptoms did seem like that it could be corona, but a HAG test I took yesterday and today doesn't confirm it. So who knows. It started with my throat being all messed up, then came muscle pain in legs accompanied with being cold in one moment and being hot the next, plus slight headache. Took some pills, ATM only the throat still feels a bit weird (inflammed?). When the pandemic started, I imagined if I contract it by any chance it'll either kill me or do nothing. I discarded the first theory when my dad contracted it in late 2020 (he was 84 then) when he had to be taken to the hospital for broken hip (he fell when getting out of bed). Came in negative, came out positive, no symptoms, we were wearing masks at home for 2 weeks and that was it. Already doing it. This position is very uncomfortable for me. I had to lie that way when I was in the hospital for broken left elbow. Horrible! Do walks count? I don't game much anymore. Must have been at least 8 months since I played something. I miss it, but it often feels like a chore due to having to spend extended periods of time behind the screen at my stupid job. And weekends are often utilized to catch up on sleep. My brother doesn't even have full weekends, has to work Saturdays. Ironically, at least according to my mother, I was a computer addict back in my school years. So spending reasonable amount of time behind a computer is considered an addiction, but spending 8 hours daily at the job with hardly any leave, that's life. What a load of crap! Both my parents (retired) complained few years back "What do we have now from working all those years? Nothing." Exactly, NOTHING! NICHTS! NIŠTA! NIETZSCHE! (referencing Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche here ). Yes, you don't have to tell me. Wow, tragic. At least it was quick. My grandma died in 1998 in her sleep from a heart attack. Thanks, getting better. I'll probably skip work on Monday, just in case.

  41. Hang in there @UCyborg. Drink plenty of fluids and get lots of rest to help your body fight the infection. If your lungs become problematic, minimize sleeping on your back and stay reasonably active (gaming don't count). With a little luck you'll be feeling good in no time. Healthy as a horse is a misnomer, humanoids are incredibly fragile. A friend had an uncle who went to the doctor for routine exam. The doctor told him he was good and healthy. Well he died before leaving the office, heart attack. Make every day count :)

  42. Forgot to mention, and again I kinda rely on the neighbor for most of this info, not the news, but somebody that works IN THE FIELD - she claims that a large number of deaths that are reported as covid deaths were not in fact covid deaths. A gunshot victim or car crash victim would be counted among the covid numbers even if that gunshot or car crash was the "real" cause of death, but since "covid" was found in the lungs (my assumption here), then they were "counted" as a covid death. At any rate, I'm just tired of all of the BS and still have my fingers crossed that we return to "normal". I have no intention of wearing a USELESS mask for the next TWENTY YEARS all because "politicians" don't want to give up their "control" over rules we must follow but they don't think apply to them. Any whoo...

  43. I'm no doctor, but my neighbor is. She threatened to quit her job three/four weeks ago due to a vaccine mandate that would have required she be vaccinated (she still to this day is NOT vaccinated). She's a consultation physician and to me at least it sounds like when I do jobs as a "consultant". I am exempt from "union rules" at most of the companies that I do consultant work for. The way she tells it, the only reason she was allowed to keep her job and remain UNVACCINATED is because of a Supreme Court ruling (which I have not been following). At any rate, that aside, me and my neighbor are both of the "opinion" (we acknowledge that is is "opinion" but there is "some" studies that back it up, but just as many studies that refute it, but I cannot claim to be following these studies personally, the neighbor is however and I kinda take her word for it), where was I, oh, it is my "opinion" that the folks that have died from covid were in such a state of health that they were going to die anyway, not from covid but something much less "deadly" than covid. So in my view, all of this "crap" that the US and other countries have been doing in the "guise" of 'safety' is all just BS. Opinions vary, of course. But that's mine True.

  44. In the US, there has been 73,100,000 cases and 876,000 deaths. Divide that out and that's 0.01198. So is the mortality rate 0.01198? Or 1.198? At any rate, it's not the "90%" that our media would have had you believe a year and a half ago.

  45. Forgive me for being a bit unorthodox. But I feel that if we all went around licking each others hands and faces a year and a half ago, we would have achieved natural immunity in less than a MONTH and this thing would be over already.
